Ok, makes since now! :D

Good read, this guy is awesome.

I thought so too. He does a good job of explaining pretty technical stuff. And its nice to see that this is practically the same as a custom kernel. I saw verification that it will have all standard cm7 features also. So we aren't getting some watered down version. I have a feeling this is going to be awesome.

Yeah anyone can understand it they way he has it put, and yep, we are getting full out CM.

Now just imagine if we could run custom kernals with it on our DX.... perhaps one day. :D

The way he puts it kind of makes it seem like this is the same thing as a custom kernel. We just don't load it separately. Are there really any other advantages we miss out on? I know they do things with overclocking and undervolting in other phones but we already have those features.

Just some other tweaks to make it run better I suppose.. nothing we can't live without of course. :D

I guess we'll have to wait and see how awesome a rom can run on the dx without that blur skin underneath it. I know I'll download the beta asa.

Slightly buggy AOSP is a hella lot better than non buggy Blur amirite?

No, but slightly buggy AOSP from the development community is a hell of a lot more likely to get patches/updates to fix it in short order...

Lol definitely, future updates and having the dx's fate out of moto's hands is the best part of this whole thing. Someone asked him if they should be working or waiting and he said working for now. So maybe the alpha testers found some more bugs or something. Oh well. He has all the major stuff working. I still think its looking like a beta comes out today or tomorrow.

The 3rd dawn of the OGX is upon us. I do not see the enthusiasm I thought I would

Honestly, I think a lot of people like the new GB and Blur. If I had to leave my phone as it is (.596 rooted stock), I could live with it until my next upgrade. I am using the all of the Blur widgets now. I never even touched them on FroYo. They aren't perfect, but they are good enough.

I loved the new GB and blur.. until I flashed ApeX, and forgot about everything else.

It is just so smooth, and the battery life is great. I imagine CM will be even better.

i'm very taken back by the lack of attention this is getting. not only here but on other forums that i'm lurking on for info. yes, the new gingerblur is nice, but this is a huge development. this is essentialy unlocking the bootloader. we still have to use moto's kernel, but it sounds like thats just a technicality. this pretty much turns it into a blank canvas for a dev to do whatever he wants with.
