Root CM7 Nightlies

Does Navigation work properly in these ROMs? I had problems with the GPS thinking I was 50 yards or so away from my actual location when I was using the latest "stable" version of CM7 (7.0.3).

Did you/have you done a complete wipe before installing? I see that people state issues with GPS being off by quite a bit and I've never had the issue. I've run just about every nightly since the high 50s I believe and I've never had this issue.

I am running newer radios as well. I'm currently running the 5/6/11 leaked radio...

Lastly, have you tried GPS Status? If not, see the thread I just started in All Things Root.

humm i have never had a problem with the gps even when the the alpha builds were out

if it is not working try a fresh install... i am looking over the xda thread no one is having problems with the navigation

So lately I have noticed that my boot animation goes back to default CyanogenMod 7 bootani everytime I flash an update. On build 99 now btw. I seem to remember flashing earlier builds and not having to copy in my custom bootani everytime I flashed. Any help?

It should always go back to the original man. ... it gets whipped when flashing the next build which has the boot annamation built into it lol. ... sorry suck it up :p

The title says it all. How may I choose the directory where downloads go? Thanks. Sorry for the noob question.

they should go right to your sd card in the downloads folder i dont know if there is actually a way to change the download location or directory

does anyone have the problem of downloading the ROM then copying it over to the sd card, when i go to recovery and install from sd card, it is not there. it has happened to me twice. i was able to install 1 rom once, then everytime i download another nightly or another rom, it does not show up on my install from sd card list, can anyone help?

Hummm haven't herd of this. ... how are you downloading your roms from your phone or computer?
It may be an issue with your SD card what is your SD card formatted to?

I don't know if this has been asked before... If I'm on, say, nightly 90 and I flash nightly 100...will I get all the changes in Nightlies in between or just the changes in nightly 100?

It depends on whether or not those changes were kept in the ROM or if they were removed because of stability issues.

So I flashed Nightly 109 after going through my usual backup routine. After I flash I use Root Explorer to copy a custom boot animation to /system/media

When I opened Root Explorer it was not granted Superuser permissions. The toggle for R/O and R/W was not available. So I opened Superuser and to check for updates. The bottom option read that my Superuser binary was out of date. So I tapped it to update it. The Superuser app was unable to update within the app. The toast notification read that a flashable zip (su-2.3.1-bin-signed.zip) would be placed on my sdcard which I could flash in recovery. So I tried to flash this in recovery to get SU working. The zip didn't flash. So I figured I'd try it again. So I rebooted and repeated the above. Booted back into recovery to flash zip again but it failed again. The zip was (bad) according to recovery.

So for now I'm back to my nandroid of Nightly 108.

My specs: Dinc SLCD; RA Recovery 2.2.1; Incredikernel 2.6.37.6; Superuser v2.3.6.3; Su binary v2.3.2-efgh.

I'd like to be able to flash Nightly 109 and future Nightlies but I'm afraid that SU will continue to break. Gotta have SU permissions. Kinda the point of root.

BTW: Superuser app has Superuser permissions...

Thank you for your help in advance.

I noticed when I was on nightly 109 that the my apps icon in the market had been replaced with Verizon apps. Also, the phandroid app was locked in landscape. Just funky weird stuff.

I had the exact same problem as you described; I'm sure the CM dev team knows about this issue and will have it fixed in Nightly 110.

humm i am on 111 i think and haven't had any of these problems but i am no longer on cm7 a crime i know right but all the ginger sence roms are now becoming stable and i made the switch yesterday all though it is not 100% there yet i am liking it so far... i just wish CM would make a ginger sence rom and That would be the dream ROM for me lol

Hey nightlies ppl,

I have been running CM 7.0.3 for some time now and have been very happy with it.

Can someone tell me what major improvements there are within the nightlies versions?

I'm not one to start messing with something that works well, just curious.

Any idea when the next stable version will be out with all these upgrades?

Thanks!

So I'm a so-called crack flasher in that I flash every nightly as well as all other roms. That said, I've stuck with Cyanogen because of the stability of the rom. So between 7.0.3 and the latest nightly (RC 7.1) you are going to be upgrading from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4. Most of what you are missing is marginal stability and the ability to video chat (which the Dinc can't do). I flash each nightly because my phone always runs better than the last nightly I flashed. My 2cents.
