Root CM7 Random Issue Thread

Been having an issue for the last few days where my phone will just start rebooting repeatedly over and over........no clue why.

Also keeps telling me sd-ext doesnt exists

drop your oc setting down one notch and also didyou format you sd card in recovery?
 
So my phone started doing that, when installing an app reboot thing again. Even my nandroid back up did it. And I tried to debug the issue for over an hour again With no luck. I deleted every app I downloaded in the past 48 hours, I deleted every file that one of the apps I deleted made,I googled the problem (Which theres quite alot of people that have this issue not all are on CM7 or have an ascend.) I followed everyone of there debugging opinions, I ran fix permissions in RM,changed VM and compcache settings, I rebooted into recovery and wiped my dalvik, then went back and wiped cache partition, then went back and wiped my dalvik, cache and ran fix permissions all at the same time in CWR. And None of it worked. I ended up wipe literally everything including the sd, reformatted the SD and EXT again and Reflashed and everything is running fine again. I cant figure out why the hell it keeps doing that. But lucky Ive become super quick at reflashing and getting everything back to the way I had it with all my apps. 23 minutes isnt that bad! Ahaha Most of that I was waiting on apps to install.
 
I just flashed the newest version of CM7 and my wifi likes to turn on and off by itself. It will stay consistant for a few minutes then shut off which makes downloading a pain. Has anyone else had the problem? Or know how to fix it?

You sure it's not the router? When it looses a signal, it will drop the icon.
Go to Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks > Wi-Fi settings and just watch. Is the WiFi shutting down, or is it losing a signal first? (If you can catch it, that is.)

BTW, you're not using an app that has a location manager on it, are you?
 
Nope I'm not using any apps with location managers. And I'm checking right now to see if the signal just drops or what happens.
EDIT:
Well I watched and the wifi just disconnects out of nowhere then data enables itself for a few moments then wifi comes back on.

Reflash and wipe all data cache davik and format boot system data cache and sd-ext. (Do not format sd card just sd ext) I had a similar issue my wifi.

Tried that, didn't help... Even after wiping EVERYTHING & reflashing.

I had that problem. I read somewhere to uninstall TiBu and you wont get that anymore. I uninstalled it and havent had that issue since. I actually ditched TiBu all together and havent used it since my very first flash.

Tried that, now it's worse... First, I tried to uninstall from "Manage Applications", that didn't work. It said "The application Package installer (process com.android.packageinstaller) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. [Force Close]"

So I went in to the market and unistalled it from there. UPDATE: That didn't work either. Once it stopped rebooting, TiBU was still in my App Drawer

After that was done, I returned to the market and tried to update some apps... Now it will dl the app, start to install, and then gets stuck in a bootloop...

So, I went to the TiBU wiki and it says it may be something in the android 'secure' folder blocking apps from being installed... Still trying to get this fixed... Any tips would be much appreciated.

I deleted it with no problems.

When you download an app it downloads and starts to install and then freezes and reboots its self while installing? You figure that problem out TELL ME!! Ive ran into that issue about 4 times now. It will happen out of no where. I would go to download an app and as soon as it starts to install it freezes and then reboots its self. I have tried almost everything I can think of and probably everything I could find on the web and had no success and would have to end up reflash. Evidently theres a lot of people that have that issue happen to them on all types of phones with all types of roms and I havent been able to find one solution to the problem

I think PG suggested uninstalling Titanium Backup.

I did. I havent reinstalled it since. I used it once when right before I made the jump from 2.2 stock to CM7. Even with TiBu not on my phone it will just happen out of the blue with a random app I try to download.

Yes, that has been suggested by several people... However, that is where I ran into a whole other problem. I CAN'T UNINSTALL TiBU! Read my last post... :rolleyes:

UPDATE: I ran "Fix Permissions" and was finally able to install a few apps, but then it started again...
 
I was running 05282011, and I went through rom manager to install the newest version, my phone has been stuck in the boot screen for about 30 min... I took out the battery and when I tried to boot into CWM it says Firmware update Step 1/2 and underneath that it says update failed... does anyone know what is going on here????

So, the only solution I've found is to run "fix permissions" and reboot every time I install a new app... still no idea what's causing it though. Very frustrating... :confused:
 
i instald this on my phone whit rom menneger
BUT when i try to boot my phone it doesn't load ferther then the screen of my carier :(
after 10 min it reboots but still the same problem

Does anyone have problems with the keyboard on the Ascend, sometimes when I type it inserts letters from the otherside of the keyboard, trying to figure out if its my touch screen...

Im rooted running CM7

That happens to me occasionally, and I've heard others have as well. I think it's just the stock keyboard... I didn't have that problem when I was using Swiftkey X, it was the best keyboard by far. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get it back after reflashing because it was a "free app of the day" on the Amazon Appstore, which I don't want to install again after what I've learned about it. I'll probably end up forking out some $ to get it from the Market though.
 
Hello all. I've been reading these forums for weeks and finally got the nerve to flash to CM7. Anywho, I've seen somewhere in this Palace of Wisdom called a forum where the issue of duplicate SMS messages was addressed and resolved. Could someone point me in the right direction? Running Handcent on CM7 (7/28).

I've heard some say that Anti SMS Bomber from market works for them but I've been using it and I still get duplicates... even hours later... sometimes I receive the same message 5-8 times... sucks but I've been living with it
 
hey, first off i would like to say sorry if this thread has been posted already.
i am on cm7.2, metro pcs.
i was just wondering if anyone found out how to make the signal bars actually show signal. ever since i been on cm7 it never shows how many bars i have but i actually do have signal because i can surf web and call and all that. i am just kind of annoyed by it, if there is a fix plz tell!
