Coolest Feature,Tip,Trick or App you have found For the Note 2

Old news, bro! No need to use Airdroid anymore. Just use this:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsInBsLnNvbGlkZXhwbG9yZXIiXQ..

I honestly forgot who posted it (in another thread), but not only can you use a password protected ftp, but plug that url into Windows File Explorer and drag and drop to your hearts content!!

I see why it got all the downloads and 5 star reviews. Just discovered yesterday. Probably going to uninstall Airdroid now.

I can't get it to work. I enter the ftp address in the address bar on my PC, but it asks for a user name. Anonymous doesn't work. What am I doing wrong?

One of my favourite features of the note 2 is how I can take my pictures. I came from the fruit phone and I really liked the fact that I could tap the volume button on the side of the phone for a snap button. Well on the note 2 the volume rocker acts as a zoom in and zoom out feature PLUS there's a setting in the camera that you can enable voice commands and simply SAY:

"capture" or "shoot" or "smile" or "cheese" and it will automatically take the picture. I LOVE this PHONE!!!!!!

Not sure if anyone post this yet, but the screen shot swype is kinda hard for me for some reason, so I was playing around and I pressed the home and power button and held and it took a screen shot.

Regarding the Solid Explorer app, I discovered that on your PC, the log in is: Admin
The password is what ever you chose on the phone.

This. Having a private FTP assigned to transfer via windows explorer is just awesome. This makes things so easy to just drag and drop files quickly without needing to connect the phone.

Airdroid was good, but definitely not as good as this.

Guys,

1) Why can't I get the space in the S Pen draw to text work. I have tried drawing a vertical and horizontal line several times but each time it shows | or -.
There should be an automated spacing for writing words using the pen.

2) "when the phone is asleep if you hold your finger over the camera and sensors on front the phone will display if you have any texts/missed calls and the battery %."
This doesn't work on my phone. Any ideas? Thanks,

1. Don't draw anything for space, just put a gap between your words. Don't pause first, just be natural. Works for me. If you're not mid sentence a _ will work though.

2. First make sure it's enabled.. settings -> motion -> quick glace. Then when screen is off wave your hand over the top of half of the device, or just kinda hover over the sensor about an inch away, for about a second.

Kinda iffy for me a lot of the time.

:)

I can answer #2.

This is a motion, it needs to be activated in the settings.

Settings > System > Motion > Quick Glance

There will be a whole host of other motion options there too. :)

Good luck!

Yeah, I used to wave my hand over it. But his method actually works better, I just tested it. Next time you do it, literally put your finger over the camera area for a sec and it'll pop up damn near instantly.

Sorry, but FTP is not a searchable term in this forum. I'm trying to take videos on N2 and transfer them to my home network to be seen on a laptop and the TV. Evernote looks - well, exhausting for my IQ level.

Does anyone know of a good link or thread that addresses some of the easiest ways to accomplish this?

Thanks

No need to look for a thread. There are several ways you can do this. If you go with the method that I mentioned (and had been previously mentioned by another person), here's what you'd need:

1) Download this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsInBsLnNvbGlkZXhwbG9yZXIiXQ..

2) After downloading the app, Open the app and click on Menu>File Sharing

3) After you do that, you'll see FTP Server (at the top of the page that opens)

4) Cick on the box with the "..." next to the "/storage" indicator.

5) Navigate to wherever you have your camera pics/vids stored (either you have them directed to your internal storage or microSD (e.g. external storage) DCIM folder would be the folder for pics/vids taken with the camera

6) Once you've found the folder and it's indicated in the Shared Directory box, click "OK"

7) Enter a password in the password box

8) Press Start button at the bottom of the screen

9) Open Windows File Explorer on your PC

10) Click the top drop down window and type in the ftp Server Address listed on the Solid Explorer app (this will be below the Shared Directory/Password area) and press Enter

11) After pressing "Enter", you should be prompted to indicate Username and Password. Username will be Admin, Password will be whatever you selected.

After performing all those steps (It's really quicker than the 11 steps I gave, but tried to break it down step by step, so that you wouldn't miss anything), your phone storage should show up on Windows File Explorer on your PC. From there, you can just transfer files as needed (e.g. copy and paste or cut and paste).

OR

For non-wireless transfer
Plug your phone into a PC using the provided microUSB>USB plug. Wait for the prompts to identify the phone's storage and make sure that it's identifying the storage on your phone. Open File Explorer and transfer files as needed.

Thanks. So, I have been messing around with the S Pen and got it to work. You are right, the trick is to draw/scribe naturally.

Re quick glance, I have it activated. Do I need to have an actual message pending before it works? maybe it's not working because I have nothing pending right now.

I just tried it and you dont need anything new. Its just like doing the screen capture with your palm ( without touching the screen ), or being like Luke Skywalker and waving your hand over the screen ( as if your telling it that it wasnt the droid that it was looking for at the same time asking for the time ), or like Bruce Lee and karate chopping the air above the phone ( making sure you atleast go over the face facing camera lens ) either method should work immdiatly after setting the setting ( that sounded funny ) ( hehehe ).

Its a quick glow on the top portion of the phone, but you should see it if it happens.

No, it should work. Move hand over top of phone about an inch away for about one second, then away.. Then wait.. It takes a few seconds to kick in and if you try again before it does it might bug it out. Although, for me it just doesn't until my last try, then it does.

So you should be seeing it.

Oh, is the phone laying flat on a table etc? It doesn't work for me unless it is laying flat, I can't do it holding it at anything but the slightest angle.

Anybody ever use the app My Backup Pro? I bought it when they had the app sale recently (.99) and just wondering how much of the data for System Settings and Android Home it actually saves?

I like the wireless connection with video player pressing the smart tv connect button anx wat hing it on my big screen vizio..the bomb. Also the device sync using xbox on you tube is great. What. Nice way to bring tech together.... total tech high

I use an alternative method - Dropbox. There is an option that allows you to automatically upload photos and videos whenever you phone and the laptop are on the same network. Of course, for a video it will take longer than direct USB connection.
Also, you can try Airdroid, the best replacement for Kies (which never works).
