Root [CWM][ROOT][RZR] Root & Recovery AIO - UPDATED 2-19-2012

Suuee-weet, so lemme get it straight, Im pressing both volume up and down and home and when the logo pops up let go of everything then press home 3 times? I tried quick boot but it just gave me what looks like stock recovery icon blinking and that was it
 
Bless you PG and everyone who worked on this... I know you all worked on this so hard for the last month or more, and it was a very nice Christmas present for us all.

Hold both volume bottons (just in the middle) and hold the power till it vibrates then let go of only the power. It will take you to the stock factory reset then let go of the volume keys then press the power 2 or 3 times to confirm (dont worry it doesnt wipe anything) then it will reboot into CWR or the RZ recovery

Yeah I installed the cwm one and quick boot worked fine, thanx
 
I didnt catch it in the op (if it is my apologies) but in case any ones wondering you select an option with the search soft key (magnifying glass looking one)

or use the volume keys to scroll and and the power button to select. But the keys work too. (I use the power and volume because I kept forgeting which key did what with the soft keys Ahaha ;) )
 
It seems I'm confused again... perhaps?... "USB Mass Storage doesn't work" means that, if I connect to my PC via microUSB, I'll have no way to transfer files, music, etc. to/from my external SD? (i.e.- drag & drop)

help please. I want to install the overclock kernel. and when i'm on CWM i go to install zip from sd ( i think thats what it says) and i get a message saying "cannot mount sd card"....... im new at this, maybe im doing something wrong. thanks
 
Do you have an sd card in the phone? If not you should be able to go down to "choose zip from internal sd" and then select it.
 
I used clockwork..was rooted and still am. A very easy process for sure! Once the recovery is installed used Quickboot to go into recovery and flashed the overclocked kernel . AMAZING!
 
hey guys. I'm confused. this is my first time loving a phone so much that I'd want to use cwm. is there a newbie guide on what all of these terms are?

also, the point of cwm is to provide a way to recover my stock rom, correct?

so I install cwm, reboot my phone, back up my stock rom, then boot into recovery mode? I'm a bit confused on what I do and why, after I back up my rom.
 
first install the recovery then boot in to recovery backup your phone its like a system restore point for computers so if you mess up your phone you can restore it back to its current state. Also with cwm you can flash roms to your phone but theres none currently for are phone but there working on it.
 
thank you blaxican. what factors are saved when I back up my rom? let's say I have go launcher set up with themes and customized to my liking. would those configurations be saved , or does this backup mainly deal with necessary functions?

Everything saved. All settings revert to the way you had them when you backed up. Widgets and icons in the same place. All of it.
 
okay I've done the cwm installer. how do I know if it was successful? in the command prompt it says* installing cwm...* followed by more stuff, then it says* cleaning up* *rebooting...* should I see a confirmation, or is that it?



edit: I reconnected the USB and it completed.
 
This. is. AWESOME!

I will admit I was very pessimistic about CWM/ROMs ever being done for this phone but I stand corrected, very fine work guys. Merry Christmas and after I pay all of my bills for the month I will be sending a donation for your efforts.
 
How do I know that the recovery was installed? I did all steps then when got in to LG Reset screen and pressed power three times my phone never went in to recovery and wiped all my data.

edit: Did all steps again and got recovery, backup all data and installed OC Kernel.
