Root [CWM][ROOT][RZR] Root & Recovery AIO - UPDATED 2-19-2012

thank you for your hard work playful God and to all the testers and those who helped. my question us, how can I help. I'm a graphic designer who's in school for c# ood and Java programming. which language are you all using? C, C++ ,and Java?

if you overclock kernel how do you return to normal one , lets say if you wanted to return to store or exchange?

I understand that you are worried about messing it up, but all you have to do is make a backup right when you install a recovery and save to somewhere on you're computer. Then you can flash the kernel and if something ever arises you just do a restore then go to stock recovery and unroot :)

Quick question, can more that 1 backup be saved at a time? On the om you're backup would be overwriten if you did a new one?

Makes a new one each time. I already have 3.

you can make asmany backups as you wish, and they will not be over written but keep in mind you might forget which one is which.

Doesnt go on your phone, copy it to or redl to you pc, unzip, run the windows bat!

the scripts will do all the adb cmd's for you.

Any of the apps that have been listed will give u a menu option to reboot into recovery.

All the testers have been rooted and running the oc kernel with no issues other than the smartass governor. Many others have been rooted since the esteem got root, long as they havent updated to ZVC.

Thanks for the instructions, also, thanks for the list of applications I could use. +thanks to the both of you.

Thanks to everyone who has sacrificed time and equipment to develop solutions for the Esteem, here and elsewhere. Now for a little help

...My assumption would be is that even though it is stating you have another recovery, if you flashed the working cwm, there should be no problem aslong as you don't flash with ROM manager again.
Thanks. That would be my "guess" as well. I want to ensure that with someone who is certain.

yea if you install the esteem CWM provided here it should have overwritten the one RM installed.

I would like to point out tho, never flash a recovery from RM unless your phone is listed, not one like it, etc, etc. I've seen this all too many times here on AF n elsewhere. Then everyone blames RM when all it did was what u told it too. ;)

I'm glad I decided to join android forums before I used the market place rom apps.

nice to see another person into roms and phone modding in Georgia, playfulgod. everything I try to tell people about what you can do to an android, they look at me crazy.

Now that I have CWM and Im OC'd would it be better to use the standard or extended battery, or does it really make a difference?
Thanks again guys. I am really rock n and a roll n right now.

Agreed, it was not intentional. This is why I never booted into recovery. I just don't know why it still shows in ROM Manager. I uninstalled and reinstalled - still there. I would feel better being able to clear it.

Thanks for the confirmation. No pun intended. Well, maybe a little as an afterthought. :D

so who created clockworkmods? we owe a lot to them. never knew this could be done with phones. I've always seen people mention roms, and had no idea what it was, but now I understand it all!

lol revogo... we both need to get. the indulge was purchased for my wife at the same time I bought my esteem.

it was a horrible phone before BASIX.

but I found the esteem to be pretty snappy out of the box.

Koush Dutta is Mr. Clockworkmod. Also the dev of ROM Manager and DeskSMS.

With cwm installed and plague kernel do i need to be worried about the ota update still? Will it erase cwm?
far as I know its not a ota, but rather just thru LG Mobile Update Tools, so its optional and manually initiated solely by the user.

But yes if you take the update it will overwrite it all.

My phone is stuck loading cwm no matter what I do I factory restored wipe cache and all I cant get it to load the homescreen just this dang cwm screen any help?
