Root [CWM][ROOT][RZR] Root & Recovery AIO - UPDATED 2-19-2012

Turn the phone off. Hold the volume keys and hold the power until it vibrates then continue to hold the volume keys ask the phone turns on. Then it will take you to the reset screen.

OR
Download and install Quick Boot (Reboot) and you can just open the app and press "Recovery" and it will reboot the phone into recovery

Thanx Shiny. Got it working. Maybe the first time I did something wrong. Installed again and now I have a wonderful esteem OC'ed at 1.7 Ghz.

Im a little hesitant as i am not getting a new phone any time soon (2-3 years) how would you go about removing this if you wanted to return the phone or is the recovery permanent, currently i am only rooted.

nevertheless, you guys did an amazing job, Thank you to everyone who contributed. Sorry if i sound pessimistic I'm just cautious. i don't want to do something that's irreversible. :):):):):):):)

you can always put the defualt recovery back on it, by renaming the original mmcblk0p14.image to cwmrecovery.img and drag it in the cwm folder.

I am also a little hesitant but will probably do it later today :D so if if I install and make a backup of the system, it backs it up my entire current config and all app installs of the phone, correct?

and then if I install the OC kernal, doing a recovery will put it back to a pre OC kernal in case there is a problem?

or if I install a new custom ROM (which I know there is none currently) will also put it back to when i made my recovery image, am i getting this right?

and what about if I backup then install something that changes the battery icons with metamorph/ninjasumthinorother in taskbar, I can fix a problem with the recovery???

thanks!

I found myself using my phone a lot yesterday for browsing the web which I never did before. My phone is now as fast as my tablet and overclocked @1.7 I haven't noticed any battery drain compared to running @1.0.

Not sure but I can tell you no exploit on the earth will root it at the moment. Hopefully LG didn't lock to bootloader.

Yeah I've tried everything I could find. Well once cwm is 100 percent and a ROM is available, ill just downgrade back to zvb. And go from there unless there's a solution out soon.

Working lovely, got into recovery with anreboot app and backed up my phone in cwm. Thank you for giving me the ability to tinker >:D

Thank you very much!!!!

As a simple advise, could you please put something like "UPDATE 1, 2, 3, etc.." to the tittle of the thread whenever it's updated so we can keep up?

If I unzip and then put CWM.zip into my phone, do I just access it with anreboot or do I do anything with ADB. Also, is rooting/overclocking dangerous at this time?

yea thats right. You can use quickboot, rom manager, anereboot, almost any launch to recovery. It's basically a shortcut to booting into the recovery image.

Doesnt go on your phone, copy it to or redl to you pc, unzip, run the windows bat!

the scripts will do all the adb cmd's for you.

Any of the apps that have been listed will give u a menu option to reboot into recovery.

All the testers have been rooted and running the oc kernel with no issues other than the smartass governor. Many others have been rooted since the esteem got root, long as they havent updated to ZVC.

You could use the method of flashing zvb to zvc to see if it works. However I hear the downgrade fails it's original intention so no promises there. otherwise I haven't heard of any real effective methods yet... oh, If u did a backup before flashing this kernel, restore it and u should be back to the original kernel. (Theoretically speaking, haven't tried it yet)
