Root CyanogenMod 6.0.0-RC1

yeah the rom rocks even with this minor issue. market worked fine on jrummy's source 2.2 but oh well. hopefully this will be resolved soon.

Jrummy prolly set it up so his rom is reported as a 2.1 ROM. In that case you lose access to Flash on the Market (and other 2.2 apps), which are accessible from the CM6 ROM...you may need to clear cache/data in Applications>manage if Flash doesn't show up on CM6.

Well I have never tried a CM ROM before and can't say it's going well. I was getting so many redraws with LP that I thought maybe a different ROM would help. I will continue to work through it to see if I can't get it stable but my kernels are not working well with setcpu. Oh well, so goes the life of a flasher LoL.

Bad idea for me to flash this ROM, major problems so having to restore BBV0.4 it took me over 45 mins to get my nandroid backup restored. :(

SetCPU 2.2.2 in the CM ROM (and may be appearing in other ROMs as well) has a problem allowing SetCPU to set CPU speed on boot...some folks have been using setCPU 2.1 instead. I don't reboot very often, so I just go into SetCPU after a reboot and set the feq again. Thread on it here: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/2523-superuserroot-problems-with-rc1/

Problems flashing a new ROM are almost always due to a problem with some conflict in data, if you want to try again for fun (:)) try wiping data and cache.

This is definitely a YMMV situation - I get great benchmarks/performance and stability on CM6, others may have better luck with other ROMs...

This ROM is running great for me, but is anyone else having weird contrast issues? It makes some pics look better while making others look worse.

I think you mean the problem is with SU 2.2.2, which has a problem allowing SetCPU and other apps (like Titanium Backup) get root access at boot time.
So people (myself included) have flashed back to SU 2.1.
Note: SU stands for Super User

Awww, what happened to the 10% increments for the battery? That was my favorite thing from CM with 2.1.

Perhaps coming back once officially released? I hope so. Otherwise, smooth so far.

I think that's pretty much what I said...we're in violent agreement. :) And I've flashed back to 2.1 as well...

Okay, now I'm absolutely loving this rom. But I had days of frustration because everytime I opened an app I would get an Android system fc. I tried differnt kernals, different settings and it kept happening non stop. Additionally adw was taking forever to load once these fc's happened. Well I read on a different forum that if you max out the VM Heap under the CyanogenMod Settings this will fix fc's. Now this ROM is running like butta, what I had come to expext on a CM rom. YES!!!

Ok, ROM flashed. Waiting for apps to finish re-installing. :) Should I fix the SU issue first do you think?

Welcome back to Cyanogen! :)

I fixed it by flashing the 2.1 SU at the same time I was in recovery to flash the ROM (also put on my favorite jdlfg kernel)...

But you can boot back to recovery to flash SU 2.1 after your apps reinstall...

I also used the info here to edit build.prop so I could get an app that wasn't showing in the market (ultimate juice). (http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...ected-app-market-fix-tutorial-build-prop.html)

I would go ahead and fix the SU...things are easier w/it working right.

Also...check out the settings under Settings>Cyanogen...lots of cool stuff, including the option to set the color of the status bar, and you can see the color change via a long-press on the left corner of the status bar, as well as all of the notification text, etc.

Also VM Heap in the performance settings...set it to 32MB, seems to provide better performance...

Enjoy!

i had a issue with SU after flash to cm6 all i did to fix it was to open su app and then uncheck and recheck the programs and no problems since.

Never had FCs before or after changing the VM Heap size, but agree, it does run smooth.

I'm on the latest nightly, can't help myself upgrading every evening (they come out around 6PM each night). :)

Worth a try - but have you rebooted since you tried your fix? If it works after a reboot that would be the difference.

Ok, there is one issue I'm having...my lil DDRROOIIDD!! is gone (I can't make this up: as soon as I type that, my substitute notification tone goes off...incredible). I'm sure I can just DL it somewhere, but I don't know why it just vanished.

That's what I said in an earlier post. the DROID sound is the DROID. I can't imagine a Droid without the sound.

It's my message sound :)
