i am running chevy's ulv 1000mhz and i just scored a 1290 something. amazing how different each phone acts.

Definitely. My friends' phones that I've rooted for them all run great on his LV kernels, too. Mine won't. I have to use his standard voltage or it boot loops. Really odd that it's that much different.

I downloaded and installed this today and am now trying to install sapphire or BB v.04 but I cannot install from the ROM Manager, it asks me if I want to back up and if I want to wipe, I say yes, but it just relaunches into this ROM. I cannot manually enter via the power and x button, the start up
goes until the "M" appears, stays on for a while, then the screen goes blank for a second, then the "M" re-appears and the process repeats until I give up and release the x button. At that point the phone continues to boot into this current rom.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried flashing SPR in rom manager then flashing back to Clockwork? This is a known issue, if you flash to a different recovery then back to the original it should work.

I installed this just now.. I was planning on keeping it around for a few days to do a ROM review. Can't do it. 933 Quadrant score with Chevy's 1100. Way too slow for me.

Did you try changing the settings to what is suggested in post #77 of this thread? CM wasn't very fast for me either until I did that. After I applied those settings and rebooted, its been running great! I was expecting to be back to BB a while ago but CM has been treating me well since RC1.

+1 for the changes you posted in #77. This made a TON of difference in speed for me as well, plus, I have had NO screen redraws since, and everything is much smoother.

I noticed something though... I am unable to play any video streams (such as a news clip). I have flash installed, but not having flash never stopped me from playing videos I cannot play now with CM6.0.0 RC2. Anyone else experiencing this? :(

I played several videos today (non-flash) w/out issue...not a ROM issue, per se, as far as I can tell.

Even with using wifi, I still can't play streaming video... couldn't even play a movie trailier on YouTube without video instantly freezing although audio seemed to play okay. On 3G, there's no video at all and audio is choppy when streaming FoxNews thru the FoxNews app (it did play last night, though, on a baseband that gave me a worse 3G signal).

I don't play videos that much anyway, but it's a pain to not be able to when I'm showing people how great my Droid is and I can't even play a friggin video!!

Decided to take this one for a test drive and everything was looking pretty good until I went to launch Wordwise and got fc every time I tried to get into the game. I uninstalled and reinstalled and tried clearing data and nothing would work. I was very disappointed. Other than that it looked like a great ROM.

did you run the fix permissions in rom manager? that normally takes care of any FC problems.

Is that game working on other froyo roms. It could very well be that it is not working on froyo.

Try setting VM Heap Size to 32 (in CM Settings under Performance) - might help.

Not being able to play video over wifi sounds like something is messed up...you might try wiping data if you're enough concerned about it.

ROM REVIEW - CM6 RC2

Installation & Set up
Installation was very fast. The first boot took 2 minutes. Apps synced in about 11 minutes and download all but 2 apps, Pure Calendar and Ultimate Juice. The weird thing was, when I searched for Pure Calendar in the market, I could not find it. (I did not perform the market fix)I restored a version from Titanium Backup. I also restored my app data using TiBU. I tested the usual suspects, maps, Bluetooth voice dialing, and paid market apps. All seem to be working, and for some reason my maps is accurate again! Yesterday it was showing me what end of my apartment I was on. My maps location had been off by about a block for months. I used Launcher Pro to restore my screens and it was fast and easy, just replaced the widgets.

Speed and Performance with Stock Kernel
Running the stock 800mhz kernel for about a day, I felt it was very capable and fairly battery friendly. I did have to make some setting adjustments in order to achieve optimal performance, those changes are posted here. I also suggest flashing Superuser 2.1, it seems to play nicer with CM, and faster. Find it here. I did minus a half of a point due to the necessity of the tweaks and the fact that they are not explained in the OP for the rom. I was happy with the performance of the stock kernel, but admittedly I do not run 800mhz kernels. I need at least a 1ghz to keep me happy :D

Rom Speed with Chevy’s 1.2ULV Kernel
Chevy’s 1.2 ULV is my kernel of choice. I use it for speed and to save battery. CM definitely flew with Chevy’s kernel! I have almost no redraw when going to a home screen unless I’m doing something obviously memory intensive. The transitions between apps and screens flows very well. While I am happy with the speed, I am not quite so happy with the battery life. I use Battery Left to estimate my battery life, but I only use it as a comparative tool. I do not take the estimates literally, I simply use the data given and compare it with other rom/kernel combinations. By my estimations, and using Chevy’s 1.2ulv as a constant, I get about 28% less battery life with CM as compared to BB V0.4. CM loses a point for this.

Features
Most of you are aware of the many CM features but I’ll cover some of them briefly. REBOOT is an option when holding the on/off button. CM now comes with its own SETTINGS MENU allowing you do things like change all the colors in the notification bar, increase performance, move to next music track or previous by holding up or down on the volume buttons, move apps to SD card, MUSIC CONTROL ON THE LOCKSCREEN (I love this!), tweaks to haptic feedback, and 360 degree screen rotation. There also options in the CALL SETTINGS to do things like vibrate when call has begun and ended, and turn the phone over to silence ringer. There has also been a change to the power control. Look at the photo below and you will see that you can now control your 3G connection.

I have not tested for battery savings but it does have potential. There are certainly more additions I have not covered, CM comes packed with great features!

Themes
There are some great themes including 928Droid’s 2.2 Black Glass theme. I am in love with this theme, if you haven’t seen it, check it out. It looks way better on the phone than in the photos. As of right now, themes are being ported slowly RC2, probably because this is a Release Candidate (RC) and is subject to change any day. For convenience, if a new RC does come out, you will be notified of the update via Rom Manager and can easily update it.

Conclusion
CM6 RC2 has grown into one of my favorite roms, right next to BB and Kangerade. The features that CM incorporates makes it uniquely stand out. It did lose 1.5 points for battery and required tweaking, but since we can’t give a 3.5, I have to give it a 4. It is too rich and stable to be considered a 3 but is not ready to be elite. I have no doubt that the final version of CM6 will be spectacular, but in the mean time this is a great rom to have on your Droid.

OVERALL RATING: 4/5

Is that game working on other froyo roms. It could very well be that it is not working on froyo.

Worked under BB4 with no issues. The permissions fix didnt correct it. I'll try the heap size setting and see what happens.

Hello,

I have RC2 now, but I am unable to flash any themes, or flash any other mods, all I get is error messages. I am able to restore previous backups but even within them an unable to flash any rom or theme, just get errors during reboot.

Any help would be fantastic! :)

I gave it three. I have tried all the different kernels only chevys lv 1000 works for me. Also wifi tether is not working( reinstalled through market no go) also psx4droid does not run either , both are working on the nightly build i'm running now.

what are the errors you are getting?

off-topic, but what problems are you having with psx4droid? I have it installed but haven't gotten around to putting roms on my sdcard yet.

wifi-tether hasn't given me issues either (jdlfg kernel)

Note on battery life: I had similar experience as SoDroid with kernels and battery life. However, jdlfg's 1100mhz kernel, my battery life has steadily been getting better. In fact, yesterday I pulled the phone off of the charger in the morning used it lightly throughout the day, and at night I went on Airplane mode. I also keep the 3G turned off at home as I have wifi.

That being said, this morning after 24 hours of being on, I had 50% left on my battery! This has never happened before, not since getting my phone in November. Tomorrow I might try to time it officially instead of just plugging it in to charger to see if I get similar results.

Wow...

jdlfg's 1200mhz kernel has been running great - battery life @ 1000mhz is better than what I was getting from the stock kernel @ 800mhz. My phone doesn't seem to like any ULV kernels and I couldn't finish a benchmark with chevy's LV or ULV.

1491 quadrant @ 1200mhz w/ jdlfg.

I know the DROOOIID sound has been posted but I can't find it right now. You can try out this attachment. Its not the Droid sound but I think its from the same family :D
