So i was woundering if anyone else has this problem. Been running cm7 for bout a week now. The issue is when i write a long text. Like almost maxed out long. The person recieveing the text will see it different then i typed it. Looks like jibberosh or some kinda code with comingled letters, numbers and symboles. Could it be because when i flashed cm7 and then estored all app and data+system data? And some how it put HBS6 theme back on. I now no i shouldnt do that. Has anyone had this problem with this? Doin it just like i did or with just flashing cm7? Oh ya and it only does that with long text not short ones.

You need to download a text app (like handcent) with the option to split the message at 160. the stock ROM did this automatically... Cm7 does not

You can do this with the stock messaging app on CM7 and CM9. You have to split the messages at 160 characters or else people will get garbled messages. There is a picture below to help you.

If your using the stock Messaging app from Cm7 or Cm9, you can specify it to split messages and add counters. That should help you if you don't want to use handcent.

Yeah. The one on MIUI doesn't let you split.

I use Handcent because it's much nicer than the stock messaging app and gives me more options. PLUS IT"S FREEEEEEEE!!!!

Actually, the newest miui build has it too... Lol... But i agree. Handcent rocks

I just wanted to pass along a combination that I've found works wonderfully. I'm running the OC Kato kernel w/o the ext. I use S2E to transfer apps to my SD card. My phone is much more responsive with little to no lag.

I started experiencing lag after installing the theme chooser and applying themes. This solved my problems. :)

I just did the same thing and so far so good. I am kinda having a deja vu since I used to run S2E before all the custom kernels started replacing it.

But, it does seem to run better overall and I am sure that the Kato kernel is contributing to that. I can overclock to 900 but I usually leave it at 800. No lag and plenty fast for me.

I restored my user apps using Titanium with no ill effects so far, but I agree that downloading them from market is the safest way if you want to take the time.

I did have a slight glitch with Fancy Widgets and had to get that and the the unlocker from Market but I could restore my settings.

I had the same problem not too long ago and had to dig and dig to find an answer. The issue is caused when the ringer (usually a .ogg file) is missing a special tag in its "Metadata" called the "ANDROID_LOOP" with a set value of "yes".

All of the following was done with the app "Root Explorer", its the only file manager I trust for manipulating the internal storage. You could however hypothetically use any file manager allowing a the remount of the internal storage as "Read/Write".

1) Navigate to "/system/media/audio/ringtones"
2) Copy the the .ogg file your PC and download a program called "Audacity" and install it. Make sure its 1.3 beta or higher.
3) Open the .ogg file in Audacity and in the "File" menu choose "Open Metadata". In the "Metadata window" add the "ANDROID_LOOP" field and give it a value of "yes".
4) Save the ringtone file and close Audacity. Copy the file from your PC to the SDCARD and then using a rooted file manager copy the file back to it's original location and reboot the phone.
5) Go to your sound preferences and re-select the ringtone you fixed from the list.

I hope this helps!

For step #3 the value should be set to "true" not yes. After trying two times with yes I found a thread on the XDA Developers forums that had the correct way of fixing the ringtone issue.

I'm at school right now. I'll try to put a TUT together for you this evening when I get home. If not tonight, it'll be this weekend. Hopefully someone will get 1 to you before that.

If not, I'll be more than happy to make 1 for you. Just give me a couple of days.:)

Is it ok to use something like SD-Booster to speed up reading data through swap? My phone has lag when it's trying to load an app in the sd ext even when my sd card is a class 10. I tend to get a wait/ force close option before the app fully loads so I end up having to click on wait a lot.

Hroark included that already in the form of an init.d script. That app just increases the read ahead of the sd card. Hroark made it so you didn't need the app running in the background... Its automagic

Aww damn. So it's fully optimized already :( I guess that's the trade off for having virtual memory and taking a performance hit. Thanks for clearing that up for me LordVincent.

idk what the default read speed but in /etc/init.d/03ctmod you can edit value to 1024,2048, 4096 whatever you want. it'll be a line that say read ahead something something 179:0
just edit number

edit:
Hella just realized this was cm7 thread not ctmod haha. so it not in 03ctmod but that's how you do it wherever it is

I absolutely love Cyanogen Mod, my Prevail runs MUCH smoother & more efficiently. I'm having one (minor) issue with it though. I use SwiftKey X as my keyboard, however whenever I reboot/power off my phone it resets to the stock Android keyboard. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Thanks in advance for any help.

Tried deleting that keyboard or if you have titanium backup freeze it and then the default will switch to the other 1 or go into keyboard and have to switch to the 1 that you want

Also in the settings make sure that you added that keyboard and you can make it the default keyboard now
