Root CyanogenMod 7 Unofficial Beta 5 02/20/12

that is a waste of time to revert to stock


the rom formats the 3 partions, and loads a kernel

the only thing it does not over write is the baseband and recovery partition


so dont revert to stock


i used wireless tether for root users and it seems fine


what root apps are you having issues with, so i can try for myself

okay. so then ill try re flashing 4b over my current 4b insallation. as for the apps, i try to install busybox from busybox installer and i get a su error. i tried applying adaway to get rid of adds but im getting a read/write errror when applying. and when i try to update binary in superuser, it fails

it is easy to de-odex and zip align apk files, but I dont know how to re-odex an apk, so you guys have that option

newer versions of titanium backup have the option to re-odex the system partiton. i don't know how to do it manually, however.

sorry to alarm you hroark. looks like it was a one time install error. i reinstalled and looks good so far. thanks for the tip though, it saved some time

your are not having problems with apps that use su superuser or root functions

you are trying to replace the the root binaries on the system

you are trying to make modifications to the ROMs root functions

your doing all this to get rid of ads right?

CM7 has busy box, it has su and superuser

I had problems with busyboy installer and it is mentioned on the top of post 2, maybe it is looking for the su binary in the wrong location

did you check to see if the app supports CyanogenMod7

you dont need to install adaway to fix the problem with adds

it is one file called hosts in the /system/etc folder

just flash this and it is done

I just installed the beta 4 and so far everthing is looking good. This my first time on cm7 so sorry if this was asked already or answered some where that I didn't find.

I tried to install darktremors a2sd script. The official one not the one from here and I get an error when I open up the gui saying either I'm not rooted, I don't have the script or I don't have an ext partition. I was running the previal version on a ctmod before without problems. I also tried the previal version and got the same errors.

Any Ideas what I could be doing wrong?

Use s2e, its available on the market (if you're using cm7) it is a2sd designed for cm7.
1. Format sd-ext in cwm
2. Install and open s2e
3. Menu>settings- check 'advanced mode' and 'mount ext4'
4. Reboot
5. Open s2e and check boxes of choice
I select all but the middle one (/data/data) because that choice lowers my quadrant by almost 500 points...

Just installed new release. Love it so far. No problems at all with the install. Slowly getting back to how I had it before.

the only thing that really got fixed good in this release is the wifi config and wpa supplicant


if I were to wait until everything is fixed before i release anything , it would take a long time

plus i need you guys to test this

the MMS over wifi is not really related to the wif driver/config, it is more to do with how traffic is handled, and or routed

maybe some Linux network experts can help out

I am not even sure how it works in the stock rom, I need to figure that out
 
Installed the new beta and have been playing with it for a few hours..... Love it ! Hroark your the man ! Thanks to everyone involved ! Ill post any issues I may have but so far..... NONE !
 
hroark i just installed ee14 and cm7 2d and netflix works perfect audio and video synced no green bar. installed cm7 4b netflix starts for a second then goes back to menu. i love your cm7 i would go back to 2d but it has some major problems for me i wish netflix could work on your new cm7 rom. :(
