All you need to do is flash Beta5 in CWM and be sure to format your card accordingly with 1gig(1024) being the highest recommended with 0 swap . Personally , I use 512mb because for some reason my phone responds better . Just see what works best for you .

Try b5 and ull get something more like this:

Got it, Thanks

Ive been running cm7 ver5 for a couple of days now and I started customizing it with theme chooser themes after I put theme chooser back on. Ive been noticing alot of lagging when starting and shutting down apps. Then I just tried to go into mass storage and it was moving slow then it reset to the cyanogen splash screen then loaded up my home screen and I noticed all my downloaded apps were gone. So, I rebooted and then my apps were there...So, I tried to go into mass storage mode again and it reset again...this time the onbly thing that was different was adw had to be reset...So,I re installed cm7 ver5 and everything looked ok so I tried mass storage again and it reset again?
I cant figure out why its lagging some and it resets like that

@wetbiker7
How did you change the Notification Bar?

The theme chooser does that for you . Either use Theme Chooser Themes or just do a search in the Market for CM7 themes . Please keep in mind that not all themes will work on your phone and that you need to install Theme manager from the zip I provided below . Download themes and apply using the theme chooser . I'll provide a link for a few that I like and use .

If you do not have the theme manager on Bete5 yet , I made a zip that will install it using CWM . This zip also contains CMWallpaper . Here ya go .

ThemesInstaller.zip

I also use ADW Ex . The theme that I posted is a combination of Antique CM from ADW Ex (dock and icons) and the GlaSSMiX CM7 theme (status bar) .

Please forgive the newbie question. I'm running CM7 on my Nook Color and love it.

I am considering buying the Prevail and signing up for service with Boost. My brother-in-law has this phone with the stock os and told me that he found it to be slow/laggy at times. Does having CM7 improve the phone's performance?

Absolutely . A Prevail running CM7 is much faster than a stock Prevail. You have many more customization options also .

My psu exploded (well, maybe just popped but I like exploded better) on my PC. I'll be back to try to help once I get my new one in. That is, assuming it didn't wipe out my internal parts with when it failed as often happens when psu's explode

Does anybody know of a fix to get the phone to ring more than once on incoming call?
It rings only once and thats it.

I had the same problem not too long ago and had to dig and dig to find an answer. The issue is caused when the ringer (usually a .ogg file) is missing a special tag in its "Metadata" called the "ANDROID_LOOP" with a set value of "yes".

All of the following was done with the app "Root Explorer", its the only file manager I trust for manipulating the internal storage. You could however hypothetically use any file manager allowing a the remount of the internal storage as "Read/Write".

1) Navigate to "/system/media/audio/ringtones"
2) Copy the the .ogg file your PC and download a program called "Audacity" and install it. Make sure its 1.3 beta or higher.
3) Open the .ogg file in Audacity and in the "File" menu choose "Open Metadata". In the "Metadata window" add the "ANDROID_LOOP" field and give it a value of "yes".
4) Save the ringtone file and close Audacity. Copy the file from your PC to the SDCARD and then using a rooted file manager copy the file back to it's original location and reboot the phone.
5) Go to your sound preferences and re-select the ringtone you fixed from the list.

I hope this helps!

Thanks, it does loop now but now there is a different ring before my ringtone sounds. Like, it rings once as a diff ringtone(dont know which one, sounds like a basic ring) and then ringtone i picked starts...weird.
Ill try reflashing

Usually after I make a change to anything regarding the internal storage and it yields either strange or undesirable effects I first clear the Dalvik Cache before taking any other drastic measure such as re-flashing.

Also, please be advised that from what I've been reading some of the ringtones that come with official CM7 releases have been lacking the "ANDROID_LOOP" tag in its Metadata. So if this build of CM7 has been synced with the main repository it too may bare ringtones that are missing that tag. After carefully examining the 4th beta released for the Prevail I found that the "Ring_Digital" ringtone is missing this tag inherently, but I have yet to look at the other ringtones included in that release.

I hope this helps.

i had the notification bar freeze (accidentally 'tossed' a text msg to the left, lol)
Rebooted by holding power and selecting reboot. It vibrated slightly longer than usual (but still just once) during the bootani. And when i unlocked the screen it said 'safe mode' in the lower left corner. I (panicked, lol... And) shut it down fully, rebooted and all is well... Anyone else have this? Sry no screen shot, as i said i panicked and rebooted lol.

Oh, also it showed

where the battery icon goes, briefly.

lol... Thats happened to me before too and I did the SAME EXACT THING... I even pulled the battery and prayed for a minute...LMAO.... Then I turned it back on and haven't seen it since...

Hey guys , I don't know if you have been to the Prevail Homescreen thread or not but if you have , you'll notice that I am continually changing my theme and phone setup . One thing that I've noticed is that certain themes will effect the overall responsiveness of my phone . If you are running the ThemeManager/ThemeChooser and have experienced lag issues or low benchmark scores , try changing your theme . I've found that a lot of the themes available for our phones are not Prevail friendly .

One of the themes I've found that does not affect my phone that much is the Mixer Theme . I use everything that comes with the theme including the screen lock zip . I you decide to try this theme , please note that you will need to download the MDPI version and you will also need MetaMorph to change the lock screen . ;)

I'll proved the direct link to the site for the theme .

This is an ongoing issue and has been reported in older post . Sometimes I can even totally throw the notification completely off the screen  . I've just learned to be careful when touching the drop down notification screen . :D

EDIT . The only way I've found to reset the screen is to reboot .

Hey Guys, I am using Hks beta4 hf3 and I had the Notification issue Twice and I rebooted the first time but the second time "I just slid up the notification screen and went to the particular frozen message and opened it and that clears the frozen notification, without Rebooting. Give that a try and if it works for you, it will save the time of Rebooting.

Still trying to learn how to post in the proper place so bare with me if this is out of place. lol :D

I knew about the notification freeze. I just have not heard of anyone else having it reboot into safe mode. Was wondering if it somehow had to do with using the reboot option as opposed to the power off option... Or if it was just me

Hey when I first ran cm7 on the prevail I found that the wifi mac address was not the same as the stock rom mac address, Can anyone check that, you should have the stock address on the ctrom so a backup of that would still work and be easier to go into.

If you find that the wifi mac address is different I just read about a fix for it.

from the stock/ or ctrom pull /system/bin/wlan_loader
And then put that in to cm7 after you reboot your mac address will be the stock mac address.

I flashed googlemaps.zip from first post and it still forcecloses. So does youtube, no matter which version i try. Are those problems due to the mod and are they fixable?

Maps is fc-ing for me too. Not on opening, but it lags to death and asks to fc or wait. (waiting does nothing), but navigation works fine  (and uses maps to do it?!)
