Funny you ask. I just flashed 4.4 this morning. I was on 3.1 before that. I kept 3.1 because it worked flawless on my phone. But 4.4 is incredible. ADW settings and other various goodies are built in the system menu, its stable, fast and looks good. Does LWP very well too. No JIT, but I don't really miss it because it's so smooth. OH! One more bonus, previous roms have crashed my phone at anything over 710mhz. I cranked it up to 767 with no issues today.

There are a lot of great roms out there, but WW just fits my needs and feels right to me. All the buttons and features are coherent and it's not just some stripped out rom. It's been thought through really well.

Nice report. I'll flash that sometime today and see how it compares to xtr 2.1.1 and Senseable 3.0.
 
I really dug the speed of WW 4.4, the only problem I had was that my phone was running hot as hell with it flashed. I had it oc'd to 710, and without doing anything else with the phone I was running 106 degrees and slowly rising.

I'm gonna give it another shot today cause it is pretty smooth, I just don't want my phone blowing up.

Yipe.. I'd rethink flashing software that over heated my device, amigo.

Again, we're seeing varying reports of how some ROMs run great on some devices and exhibit problems of all sorts on others.

Yeah, actually makes a little "sense" if you know what I mean...(sorry, couldn't help the 1-millionth "Sense" pun posted so far on AF (do I get a cookie or anything for that?)).

Clearly, some ROMs do other "stuff" that probably keeps the device from idling as much due to extra / different features.

I would bet that this non-idling aspect is what keeps the phone at a higher temperature for longer periods of time (and certainly the user's propensity for playing with all of the custom rooted ROMs features keeps the phone more active). I, myself, am a casual user and not a "power" user, so my phone's temp stays at a nice level (and only clocked at 710 helps too).

I did like xtr quite a bit. I used it for a day or two while I waited for links to WW. I still regard WW as my fav.

It must be a setting issue. I use my phone VERY heavily during the work week...clocked at 767, I RARELY get above 100 degrees. Make sure you use the profiles in setcpu, and you shouldn't have anything to worry about. If you still run hot, there is probably another non-rom related issue.

Well each device is gonna be different. With a variety of software and roms and extra packages, it's hard to say WHAT is different.

And again, if you use the profiles in setcpu, the failsafe will prevent you from killing your Eris with fire.

Yeah...setcpu has a failsafe profile that will clock the cpu down if a certain temp is reached.

Just making sure, was a full system and dalvik wipe done?

I could see using some old Dalvik cache that had bits from old roms causing the cpu to go nuts.

OK all the WW stuff I'm hearing, I don't think I've seen an actual screenshot of it yet.
 
I have to admit that I've done it twice now.. once with Evil Eris on my second ROM, and just yesterday with Aloysius: did not wipe.

The result of the Evil Eris flash was fine, I think because I had Senseable flashed and they are quite the same in many important areas.

But the Aloysius came to my phone with xtrROM established and the result was a big frozen mess on first boot and I remember seeing remnants of Senseable during boot up toward the end before it froze up.

I bet you won't do it again. I did the same type thing , I had Ic3ROM running then flashed to Ivans.......... and kabloowie. Haven't forgotten since. :D

Ditto it's a great ROM - I get about 3-4 days between needing to charge on this ROM. Makes me really happy with the Eris - a golden ROM.

1) I don't bother with dealing with the %50 w/o signal.
2) I disable networks and GPS when not needed. Widgets on the home page.
3) I use profiles in OC to have the CPU lower when in standby.
4) I am not a heavy caller or network user.

+1 -- "golden ROM" indeed! (quick, Ivan, you should use this moniker for version 1.1, lol).
 
White Widow 4.4 and Senseable 3 are my two favorites hands down!
If anyone has any suggestions for ROMs that are like Senseable but have apps2sd and better overclocking please let me know. On white widow, i have my eris at 806Mhz!
 
I must admit, I love Aloysius V12, but i went back to CELB, got 2.7 and the google apps .zip, and I am liking it pretty well. Its not as smooth as AV12, but I love the vanilla experience.
