I concur wholeheartedly! My first doctor was Tom Baker, while traveling with Sarah. My favorite companions are the ones who can hold their own and occasionally keep the Doctor in his place. River is an excellent example, but so was Lady Romana.

I judge companions by eye candy standards. Pond has it. Wife doesn't.

That's called "characterisation". Attempting to look at least remotely like the histoical person being portrayed has a long and respected tradition on stage and screen.

Anyways what we were talking about? Ahh yes, first doctor is always your favorite is completely a lie. I think its the doctor with the least amount of screen time is your favorite. Clearly John Hurt is the best.
