Doctor Who

Sorry, Madame Vastra, Jenny, and Strax were introduced in The Battle of Demons Run. That's prior to Clara, during the Amy and Rory phase.

I think everyone uses series and season interchangeably so it's easy to get confused.

We traditionally referred to "series" here in the UK, but teh interwebz have closed that particular language gap. ;)

Re Vastra, Jenny and Strax: I'm sure their first appearance was in "A Good Man Goes To War", although their story begins before that. Probably for that reason I find them amongst the most compelling recurring characters; they have gradually 'fleshed out' and developed over time.

Just been reading through this thread. Hulu, Netflix, Cable? When I watched Doctor Who, it was on BBC 1. Now I have to find other sources...aaarrh.

Those of us in the USA can only get BBC America (has the Doctor) and only on cable or satellite - hence the importance of other sources.

Cable or satellite? Thar don't know thar's born.... when I was a lad we only had three channels, all analogue, and only one was in colour. We only got to watch it after working a 26hr day down t'mine AND walking 10miles there and back.... all uphill!

:D

Colour...luxury!!! We had teh make our own tv ou' tah ol' corn flakes boxes and sticky backed plastic.

I got loads of cable channels now though, non of them show Doctor Who.

*writes letter "Dear China Central Television....."*

Rabbit ears covered in tin foil! Four channels, but luckily one was PBS showing things like Masterpiece Theatre and....Doctor Who! How else would a kid in Texas in the '70's know anything at all about Daleks? ;)

I grew up watching Tom Baker on pbs in podunk New Mexico. We had the luxury of 4 channels on a clear night.

Well I remember when my mum and dad would say "what's on the other side?" because there used to be 2 channels - BBC and ITV.

Now children! Stop that bickering this instant! Don't make me turn this thread right around and head back home! :D

Besides, there's no point in saying one Doctor is better than another. Everyone knows which Doctor is the best. All of them. Every one of them is The Doctor, and that's what really matters.

FIFY ;) :)

Watching the Eccelston season on Netflix now (3 down).

I've actually watched most episodes out of order :p... (I think I've seen 99% of Tennant's and Smith's seasons).

It's kind of funny to get those "aha!" moments sprinkled around when I finally connect the dots to a previous reference :).

I finally got a frame for one of my Christmas presents from my wife.
It was this tardis poster :)

There are many others (Star Wars, Game of Thrones, etc) but they really piqued my interest...
