A real contender would show up for the fight!!!![]()
Pshaw. A champion doesn't win by forfeit.
I still don't want the Bionic. Crappy Blur, all that bloatware, and crappy screen.
What a sad day to be a VZW contracted customer. It's now Prime or bust. If Prime doesn't release on Verizon, I know Sprint will have it.
This might Make you guys wanting the GS2 happy only if you can wait!!!
Exclusive: Verizon passes on GALAXY S II, but 'similar' Samsung phone launching soon
The fight is delayed. It is not won. Just because Bionic's in the ring first doesn't mean it's the champ.![]()
The article should read:
Verizon would not elaborate as to why they would not be carrying the device, but did mention that they
Yep, while you guys are playing catch-up, I have been sitting here since June with my AT&T phone with Dual Core LTE goodness.I'm pretty sure Samsung wanted an SGSII variant on Verizon 100%. I squarely put the blame on Verizon. They are probably back in bed with Motorola again, which was nice when it brought us the Droid and DX series, but the Bionic is merely catching up with what other carriers have had for at least a month - considerably more time on AT&T technology wise.
Verizon's line-up is the worst and we once AGAIN watch all the BEST equipment go elsewhere. The Bionic being the flagship is a testament to where Verizon is in the equipment game.
Wait, what? OK, let's get things straight.
I was just in the VZW store this afternoon and there are 3 different phones on display that are 4G LTE phones - Thunderbolt, Charge and something else, LG Revolution?
Let's go verify this:
Set Your Location
Bingo.
Next, let me say this: Display on Charge does seem crisper - but I am going back an asking to take phones out into the sunlight to verify that they really work the way they say they do in the sun. However, I'm not all that bumpy about good looking displays - I'll pass on a Super AMOLED in order to get more features that I want. SGSII is a badass phone - even today, more than 4 months after launch. Still, though, it's more than 4 months after launch.
Finally, let me say this: I played with the D3 extensively - and the MotoBLAH I've ranted about works well when it has processor speed and free RAM to play with. You can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be rooting an replacing MotoBLAH with LPP, but stilll....
And I don' like how Sammy phone are 'too' customized versus the stock looking Android. The D3 didn't look all that different from my D1 running CM - but hte Sammy - that was a completely different experience.
I'll pass on Sammys, tyvm.

We have all been screwed.
Looks like LTE SGS2 is coming after all, but probably not first to Verizon.
Samsung to unveil the LTE version of the Samsung Galaxy S II next week
Wow. That's the Celox, then. I figure it will come to US in Spring 2012, probably.
But they can release SGSIII and SGSIV back to back over there, as long as they release the Prime here, sometime soon!

Wow, you'll root a Motorola to get rid of blur, but you'll pass on Sammy's, despite Motorola locking their bootloaders down and Samsung doing the exact opposite??? That makes no sense. Any of Samsung's customizations can be easily removed by rooting and modding to your heart's content with whatever ROMs, themes, and kernels you want. You'll find virtually NO signs of touchwiz on MY Samsung phone, and it runs like a champ with the exceptional community ROM (with whatever color scheme and launcher I want, btw). It takes longer and is harder to get that stuff rolling in the dev community when you have a massively encrypted bootloader. Motorola locks down everything while Samsung DONATES an SGSII to a lead dev, and you sit here saying you'll pass on Sammy, despite liking the screen a little better??
In addition, you've described the Charge as a good phone, and it is a good phone, but it has the SAME CPU as my Fascinate from last year!! Verizon's newest phones that have the high speed data have medium speed CPUs to go along with them.
Again I say:

The Charge is def a great phone, no doubt. And yeah, it has last year's specs, just with this year's LTE. Those SGS2s are not going to do anything that requires internet any faster, even with HSPA+.
Verizon is awful! Every other US carrier has had their GS2 phones for almost 2 months now and verizon has yet to even release a single phone with a dual core processor. And no LTE phones either. They are so far behind everyone!

I will, sure. Locked bootloader or not, we're still going to have full root access, and should be quite easy to unlock the bootloader. LTE was always more important to me, anyway, as is release date.

I think we're all glad to see Sammy drop Cyanogenmod a few phones. But then we saw that Cyanogen himself got a job working for Sammy. Wonder if that was in his contract.
Definitely. Would be even better rooted, which gets rid of TouchWiz, crapware, and the OEM sluggish filesystem.

Why is HTC bad again? Just curious.
