Help DROID Incredible random restart/reboot problem

Random reboots when changing scenes. I get random reboots, but only when changing scenes. It doesn't happen everytime I change scenes, but it happens much of the time. Has anyone else had this problem?

Mine rebooted while charging and listening to I heart radio. When it rebooted it would not see my sd card or apps/music on the card. I had to pull the card and reinstall. Only 1 reboot since the 29th. AZ

I shot two quick videos for some more detail about my reboot issues. May not be related, but definitely a lemon. Sorry about the orientation.

Wow....mine does that a few times a day but I live in the mountains sort of in a bowl with higher mountains surrounding us. It usually happens when I am in parts of our house where I know the signal is lower. I would freak out if my phone did it as often as yours!! Do you have historically have weak signal strength where you are?

I had a random reboot yesterday. I was in the country (spotty reception, but usually no dropped calls on that route) using Google Maps navigator. I had been driving the route for several miles, didn't even touch the phone and it just rebooted. Purely random. Nothing to do with what I was doing with the phone at the time (like changing scenes or doing something with the SD card). Battery charge was fine at the time.

Just relaying my experience.

Got my DI on 4/29, only one random reboot since then...was on the charger and entering an address into search in Google Maps. It hung for a second, then rebooted.

mine reboots at my moms -92dBm. at my house -70dBm works fine. called verizon today and they know nothing about the reboot issue. they told me to go to my moms and call back. i will go during the week and call them. (mom is 25 minutes away).

Verizon has an official technical bulletin on this specific issue. The Verizon rep you spoke with is a moron. They read the bulletin to me on the phone. They are aware of the problem and are working to fix it. Don't waste you time calling them back at your Mom's house - they can not fix this over the phone. Call back when you have a chance and ask them to search their bulletins for the issue and then ask to file a trouble ticket because it is happening in your area and not just the south.

So I switched the network setting to HOME instead of automatic, what exactly is the effect of this? What exactly is "Automatic" switching too, is it just for roaming or am I know going to get crappy service because I am on home only?

Just had another reboot while trying to send a text. My phone is having a really tough time sending a text today. My brothers was doing this saturday. He could not send text or make a call for a few hours. then it started working about. He stayed within a mile radius.

VERY IMPORTANT

Verizon called me back on my trouble ticket. He said I am the only one in NY to report the random reboot problem. He said the issue in the South has been resolved. He also said that Verizon does not read the forums. He went on to say that anyone who is having the random reboot problem MUST call verizon and insist on creating a Trouble Ticket. Without trouble tickets they will not fix the problem.

OK, this happened again twice.

(1) Last Friday when arriving at home from work. 6:11 PM. Phone was idle and locked and sitting face up on my center console.
(2) This morning at 7:46 AM when leaving the house. Phone was idle and locked and stored in holster on my belt.

I'm starting to wonder if it has something to do with it trying to connect/disconnect from the wpa-psk WIFI connection at home??

BS in bold. Gotta love customer support.

Thanks for the update.

My phone has only rebooted twice. Both times were when I was at work with Home Only network selected. I work right on the Canadian border, so the phone kept hitting a Rogers tower. Since I had set it to home only, it wasn't able to connect, and was restarting. Sort of makes sense to what the tech said. I turned "Automatic network" back on (and am roaming) and haven't had a single restart since doing that..

I know what you are talking about, but I see no such settings on the HTC Droid incredible's WiFi settings app. :(

I know the topic has been discussed ad-nauseam.

But i have had about 5 reboots in the last few hours here in seattle.

I did notice it rebooting a few times a day in the last few days.

Its not too big of a deal, since the phone boots up pretty fast compared to my other phones..

Especially my Crapberry Storm.. which took about 2 minutes to fully boot up.

Still loving the sh1t out of my DI...

;)

btw.. not to thread jack my own thread..

But i was looking over one of my downloads, Droid Blocker.

I looked at the app in the settings / application area.

Droid blocker free basically allows viewing of my...

sms
text messaging
email
gps
Contacts

and more..

Holy sh1t.. so basically if you download a free program they can data mine the hell out of all your contacts and emails and phone number..

Keep this in mind, the next time you download a free or paid program.

its more likely a bad app then a service issue.

A while back some people were saying the same thing about their driod and thought they were secret updates coming through. Although it is extremely unlikely that you wouldn't know about an update, I suppose it is possible. Maybe tweet @verizonsupport or call a local store. They will probably tell you its an app issue, and it probably is.

What have you downloaded recently, or been using more often?
