Root Droid X 2.2 Overclock (Kernel Module w/Instructions)

Set my Droid X at:
1.25/65
900/48
700/38
400/27

2 Quadrant scores so far:1657,1641.
Phone looks very stable. SET CPU test found no errors.
Running on Rubix Focused 0.5.

EDIT: Phone froze out on me as I was going to save the settings!
RE-EDIT: Don't think it was from overclock, when I restarted phone, It froze again, even though it had defaulted to stock settings. Set this as my default speed. Will know more about how stable it is come tomorrow.

what is the vsels number? What does it matter if it is 60 or 68?

It corresponds to the voltage the CPU is being driven at. Lower values should improve battery life since it doesn't have to draw aw much power. Do not set this value too high either because it can fry your CPU.

After we install the overclocking method and are trying to load a different setscaling.sh.. how do we do so?

I went through the install in post on fine, but have no clue how to load the modified file that is also provided....ideas?

thanks.

Easy Way To Overclock:

Lol... to overclock to 1.1ghz (using the files provided in the zip)

Change anything that says "setscaling.sh" to "setscaling100.sh"

The file is in the .zip provided in the OP (original Post). If you can't figure out what we are talking about here, please don't do it, you will screw up your phone. If you just use the setscaling100.sh file provided you don't have to edit anything... just type the commands provided in the OP... its is stable for everyone, well most everyone. I haven't heard of anyone having errors using that file.

SetCPU only controls the CPU speed once you have injected the kernel to overclock. It will not overclock for you.

Thanks..I did all that vsel @65.. i just thought i would see te clock freq on setcpu

I am at 1,300mhz at 65

is there a way for Gscript lite to execute this

I tried
su
insmod /system/lib/modules/overclock.ko
setscaling.sh
su
su

am I missing something with this program?

I did the OTA and can't go above 1.15. My limit was the same on 2.1. Might just be by device. What are the manufacturing dates for the devices that can clock 1.3+? Are they newer? Mine is a launch day DX.

I've got a launch day X and the highest I can get is 1.2

Right now I am stable, at least as stable as I was before OC. I will probably keep tweaking it to see if I can completely eliminate reboots but here is what I have:

300000000/22
600000000/33
900000000/47
1200000000/60

*Edit:: Benchmarks:
Consistently getting 1600+ quadrant
-FPS 20-30 with spikes of about 55-60

I am having trouble with the zip file. I have tried a couple downloads and it shows up as corrupt.

Is there another location to dl it from?

that should work but if you check the needs root option you dont need to type su

I wish i could get this to work. I copy the setscaling and overclock.ko file to the appropiate folders via root explorer. I then put the chmods in through terminal emulator. What am i doing wrong?

My X was built for the original Droid X release date, can't overclock past 1.1Ghz, turtle at 1.2 even at 68 vsel. Interestingly, the phone will never crash, just turtle... Too bad, would have been happy with 1.2, 1.1 just leaves me longing for more lol.

+1. Same. I cant get mine past 1.1 either. got mine at launch as well.

are you entering the full script?

$ su
# cd /sdcard/extracted/droidx_22_oc (or wherever you extracted the files to)
# mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mcblk1p21 /system
# cp overclock.ko /system/lib/modules/overclock.ko
# cp setscaling.sh /system/xbin/setscaling.sh
# chmod 644 /system/lib/modules/overclock.ko
# chmod 755 /system/xbin/setscaling.sh

# mount -o ro,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mcblk1p21 /system

# insmod /system/lib/modules/overclock.ko
# setscaling.sh

I'm having a similar issue. I've put in all the codes except for the the optional part and then I went in an edited the setscaling.sh file up to one of the 1.1 Ghz. Saved it and set it in the terminal. However, nothing changed. I used the # cat line that was posted a page or two ago and it still shows everything at stock levels. Any idea what could be wrong?

How are you editing the /system/xbin/setscaling.sh file?
