Yes, the speaker is MUCH better now! I never had much of a problem with mine before but it's definitely louder :)

I have lost quite a bit of my hearing so for me to turn down notification volume and still be able to hear it good is awesome. Also I use my phone to play slacker while doing housework so the extra volume is really nice.

I definitely understand! I'd rather have a phone where I need to turn it down a little than never be happy with the volume.

When I heard that there was going to be an update to fix the volume issue, I wasn't too confident in it since I thought that was more of a hardware thing...but they proved me wrong, which is good :D

I am a new owner of the Droid X....meaning I have payed for it, just don't have it yet! Damn backorder! Hopefully I'll be able to share some jealous iPhone user stories soon!

Welcome to the forums, and Congrats on picking the worlds best phone.

And yes, it is fun to make iPhone 4 users jealous!

Haha thanks. The only problem is that I orderd the phone in store and I can't seem to figure out what my order number is to keep tabs on the status of it. Oh well...

If nothing else, maybe you could call the store to ask them?

Welcome to the forums, BTW! The phone will definitely be worth the wait. I honestly am happier with this phone than any other I've ever had :D

I thought about doing that about 30 minutes too late haha. They closed at 6 so I will have to wait until tomorrow. The guy at verizon said he was going to have to start giving customers my number to tell them about the droid x because I know more about it than he does haha. If nothing else I will go by there just to play around on the stores dx :D I am just ready to get rid of this dinosaur blackberry and get off of tmobiles network!

Hello all.

Names Jay and i will soon be a new Droid X user myself. (ordered 8/17 says will ship 8/31)

ive been looking around on the forums at all the htings i can do (i.e: apps, themes, root.. etc)

and now i am stuck on the choice whether or not i will ROOT my DX or not. Ive tried searching google and other forums on pros and cons but it seems alot of the stuff posted (at least on the first few pages) are dated back to july and even older.

Can any1 help? Link possibly to getting started for ROOT users?

Take a look in the all things root section of the Droid x forum. Basically all you are going to do is add functionality to your phone. You can add themes when they are made available, but if you don't want to you still add more functionality. Plus now it is really easy with a 1 click root app.

By rooting you can get apps that will allow free wireless tether, take screen shots, etc. You also can remove bloatware you don't want (but do so with caution and read the stickied post about what is safe to remove). Also mybackup pro works a lot better with root to backup everything on your phone (apps and data). I removed all the preinstalled ringtones because they just got in the way when setting ringtones. Rooting itself is so safe and easy there is no reason nit to do it, just make sure you know what you are doing if you start deleting system files.

ye i have been reading up. as far as removing apps ill just rename them and still back everything up just in case.

whats a good 1-2-3 step root app if i may ask?
im pretty tech savvy but ide rather just use the ease of a app if it wud deliver same results. and after rooting how cud i speed up the phone?

Instructions to root are there, that is his I did it. Or search the all things root section for the universal 1 click root app, or if you want i can pm you the apk later.

its really just a 1 step root app. There are two floating around. EasyRoot, and Universalandroot. Google search is your friend. There really is no draw back to rooting. Now tinkering around after you root? thats where alot of people get into trouble. I would suggest obtaining a copy of the .sbf thats out there so you can flash back to stock if you get into trouble.

Yep, unirversalandroot is the one I have read alot or good things about. And there are a few people here that can pm a link to the sbf, including myself, if you want to keep a copy.

just checking in to say Hi. it looks like it's been hopping in here, of late. Carry on. ;)

The wait must be killing you, I remember waiting for launch day having mine on pre order for over 2 weeks at best buy. I was like a kid waiting for Christmas morning.:D

Really how long is it going to take manufacturers to realize people buy these things as soon as they are launched. EVO, Incredible, Droid X how many have to have shortages before a great phone launches with a decent supply??

Still waiting on my phone to come in. Classes started back today so with that and work it should help keep my mind of the X a little bit. I was sitting in class today thinking i could be be on the internet with it though ahah

Awesome news!! FINALLY got my invite for app inventor, I've been waiting since the day they started taking requests. I'm going to start building apps tonight. I am looking forward to seeing what app inventor can do. My first app is going to be to track wins/losses while gambling (poker, table games, and sports). Anyone have any requests for an app after I get done with that? I have plenty of free time to make apps. Might take me a while to learn everything cause I am going to make good apps, not quick worthless ones, I have too much pride for that.
