Root Droid X sbf File Released....Now you can unbrick

they are zipped up in the gift if you got that from somewhere.
you can install then by going into device manager and right clicking on your device and choosing update then let me pick, browse etc

going from 2.2 back to 2.1...do I need to pull my SD card before starting this process or at any time during the process?
I do not want to lose the data on the removable card.

no you won't lose anything on your sdcard

Man, pulling together the "run as administrator" and "oh by the way don't forget the patch for RSD 4.7" had me pulling hair out.

Looks like I can warranty return it after all!

Oh for fun, in my excitement of finally getting RSD to work, I accidentally hit install update.zip rather than factory reset. There really should just be a do over button. Life would be simpler. ;)

So i forgot to move su to xbin or whatever and now I dont have root since updating to 2.2.. Im on Mac and have not found a way to sbf that I was able to do. Does anyone know of a way on Mac? Also if I tried to use the universal android root app would it mess up my phone? Thanks

I don't have the link because im on my phone right now but I believe the D2 root method will work for the x on 2.2

are you reading the post. You don't have to flash back to 2.1 to root your phone. You can root it on 2.2 using the D2 root method. follow droider13's link to XDA

Tried that method but for some reason I get -bash command not found when trying to push superuser.apk to the sdcard. I winder if there is a conflict because the apk is already there from a previous root?

Motorola says leaked Droid X Android 2.2 build won't be updated to the official release -- Engadget

Looks like people with the leaked Droid X Froyo update will not be able to upgrade to the official 2.2...

I did the SBF flash and the phone works perfectly back to stock. However, I have something that is bothering me...

I went to the Verizon Store to look at the Droid X they have there, and their system version is 1.13.516.MB810. The phone says that it is the most recent update (516).

After reflashing the SBF, my phone System Version is 1.13.604.MB810. I am not sure if everyone else has my version, but the phone in the Verizon Store is version 516...

Anyone can comment on this? I don't want my phone to be not upgradeable to the official Droid X Froyo update when it is released.

The .604 update was the OTA we got like a week in. The store phones probably just haven't been updated.

Edit: you are okay. It was an official update

Hello,
I am spinning here trying to make heads o tails of all this.

OK I originally rooted with easy root.
Then I updated to 2.2 the leak.

Now is it true that they can stop our devices from seeing or receiving the update?
That said do I revert back to 2.1 first or only?
Do I have to un-root?
And what order would I do this all in?

If I must uin-root, I will miss some of the neat rooted app's that I have grown to enjoy.

Thanks
