Droid X Vs. Incredible

give me a super amoled dinc with 4 or 4.3" screen, front facing camera and dual core processor...and extra memory and that will be the perfect phone

I want a 32nm phone with a 5-inch screen (yes, I know that's big, I have big pockets. Don't judge me.) 16GB of DDR3-2000 and a 5GHz quad-core, 1920x1152 resolution, Super AMOLED, 1080p video recording on a 25MP camera, Android 5.0, and a kickstand.

Here are my personal observations and preferences:

Incredible Pros:
Smaller
Has trackpad (makes editing and selecting SO much easier)
Sense UI (+its features ie copy/paste in browser/messages)
More fluid
The ones with AMOLED display are definitely nicer
Rooted with ROMs available
WiFi connection more stable

Incredible Cons:
Switch from AMOLED to LCD
OK call quality (could do better)

Droid X Pros:
Bigger screen
Very nice call quality
Sturdy built
Really good battery life

Droid X Cons:
A tad too big (I think a perfect size would have been 4 inch screen)
Lags at times
Locked bootloader
Missing copy/paste in browser/messages (this is a big one for me)
Camera focus sucks (it unfocuses right before you snap the picture)

Both get really good reception - Tie
Both are on backorder now until August 3rd. - Tie here as well

I bought another Incredible and it should be here within a few days...I will run side by side comparisons...but at this point, I am very unsure. X is just too big. :)

The X has copy/paste. It doesn't function the same way as Sense's copy/paste, but it does do it. What do you mean by "camera focus" sucks? I've taken so many photos with it and it does a fine job. I had to wait on my Incredible to focus or refocus. With the X, it's hold down halfway to focus, and then all the way down to snap... like how regular cameras function.

sorry guys but I had too do it I just received my 3rd phone yesterday, from Amazon and it already had bunch of lint and dirt between the screens:mad: so I called amazon and told them I done with exchanging my phone for new ones so I got them to agree that when they get one of the incredible back, I have 2 right now, they will let me exchange it and order a droid-x, I`m not hard person to please, but when you pay for a phone and get brand new ones and they have issues what happen to quality control? they were brand new not refurbs so we shall see but I do love my Incredible :D

One less wolverine fan......

I still think this tops the bill as the most pointless and vapid example ever- test a device in empty pants- got it!

It's fine in my jeans. I don't wear skinny jeans though. I don't wear baggy jeans either. Just simple bootcut jeans. I don't keep anything else in the phone pocket.

The X has copy/paste. It doesn't function the same way as Sense's copy/paste, but it does do it. What do you mean by "camera focus" sucks? I've taken so many photos with it and it does a fine job. It does....but its sporadic. I can never select properly. Incredible has an awesome text selection feature. As far as camera, i have tried that but mine still loses focus. I have taken many awesome pictures with Incredible without any issues. :(

This is something whereSense devices reign supreme over all other Android devices.

Dang good point, the X can't hope to have anywhere near the copy-paste ability we have.

i agree! the funny thing it should be a given on all devices but its not ironically enough!

the c&p on the Dinc has saved me so much I cant begin to explain. it literally means the difference between bringing my laptop or not around and with the DINC I dont need my laptop :) to do my work!

I have Incredible, wife just got DX yesterday. She was willing to trade. However, after having worked on the DX for a few hours, I can honestly say that I prefer the Inc. Reasons; I think Inc. screen looks better, Sense UI is better then Moto UI, physical home/menu keys feel cheap, etc. I do however like the build, and screen size of the DX. Both good phones, but if given the option, I'd say there isn't enough to jump to the DX.

I think the Inc screen looks better with colors. When I loaded google up on both screens, the Inc looked off-white in comparison. The X has a better screen for true whites from what I saw of them sided by side (yes, both phones i had brightness at 100%).

I agree the lack of any kind of touchball and a good copy/paste on the X are negatives. The copy/paste issue could be remedied via update tho I would think.

Also, if the X has a crappy external speaker, that is also a big negative for me. I didn't get the chance to test the loudness of the speaker on the X yesterday. Will try to go back tomorrow and test it then.

From the pictures I've seen the X and Inc take similar quality pics. Inc seems sharper, but more washed out. X seems to have better/more true colors, but not as sharp. Both still take nice pics for a phone though IMHO.

Sense ui on the Inc is a BIG plus for me, but I haven't tried launcher pro to determine if that would much worse when used on the X versus Sense. The stock blur ui on the X sucked tho I can say that.

Another plus for me with the X is the better GPU. I am really stoked for the upcoming PSX emulator which will hopefully be released soon. The X will definitely handle 3d gaming better than the Inc.

Also, it sucks that the Inc bluetooth is shit. I would already be using my Wii remote if the Inc would only let me....... should be no problem on the X though.

I was somewhat expecting this with all the hype surrounding it. Sucks for people who left the Inc for it.

Nope, no regrets here. AMOLED has a "tint" to it, and once you compare, you notice it all the time :D

I'll just say that I had both side by side for a while, and the X won in my book.

I'm surprised that you all are hating on the X. It's simply the big brother to the inc.

The form factor isn't much bigger and it's the new breed of super-smart-phones. Even the arstechnica article go over everything in detail and leaves the web-blogger-pro-iphone-crap out of it all.

They are two different phones for two different markets of users IMHO. Shouldn't y'all be directing that hate to that flagship-att-phone-that-has-hardware-issues?

(I'm mocking fanbois by over-hyphenating-words-that-shouldn't-be :D)

for any of you testing picture quality on the X make sure the camera is set to 8MP because it's set to 6 as default...

That is correct, 6MP is the X default. Most true tests are outdoors with plenty of light.

Low light/indoors without flash is VERY VARIABLE from camera to camera and phone to phone depending on what the sensor "thinks" is the proper exposure area.

I haven't really tested the X outdoors, but the INC gave me some EXCEPTIONAL quality pictures outdoors!!!!

I am not expressing hatred at all. I posted my experiences with both. I still like theX but being a girl, its too big for me. That's all i was implying. If it was like a 3.9-4.0 inches screen, i would not complain as other things i mentioned can all be fixed with a software update.

Now that I've played with the X for 20 minutes, I agree they are both great phones. Love my Inc, but I've got big hands/fingers so the bigger screen would be helpful. I use Sywpe, but there are times I peck in a word or two as all swype users know. I always type in portrait, so the bigger X screen is a very important advantage for big handed people like myself.

I also agree that the Inc screen def has a "tint" to it. Don't notice it until you put it side by side with the X, which was much "brighter" with the whites in comparison. Sunlight viewing on the Dinc sucks....

I can also attest to the Incredible having a tint. I'm looking at then both side by side and there's a noticeable slight hue on it that isn't on the X. The whites on the X are definitely white. The black on the Incredible is definitely black though.

I can't really understand how people can say that the screen on the X is bad compared to the Incredible. It shows color fidelity that can't be found on the Incredible. Sure the colors pop more but that's to make it appear better. The only plus i see is the superb contrast ratio.

When i go to the same website on both devices and then compare them to the same website on my notebook, the X looks closer to the website in terms of color fidelity. The Inc looks oversaturated.

I wont get into the pentile matrix issue.

Are you talking about the pink tint? I have had 3 Incredibles and only one had the pink tint...and the other 2 had absolutely gorgeous screens and displayed normal. I compared them to my mac :p

Why is this stupid thread still going??? Shouldn't the x guys be in the x forum? Dammit, I bumped it to the top again.
