Droid X Vs. Incredible

Not sure why people keep arguing over the screens. PcMag did a scientific test actually measuring the color gamut of several phones and the Droid X was on top because it produced the most accurate color:

It isn't even up for debate, it is fact. So if you like the amoled's over saturation of the Inc great, but that doesn't mean the colors you are seeing are an accurate representation of reality, because they aren't.

so youve found that the X is faster surfing the web? most reviews show or say that the incredible is faster. and what technological advancements does the X have that the DINC does not? (besides 720p, and HDMI out)

Support for DLNA out of the box and onboard hardware level power optimization.

I really like the swype keyboard option that comes the X. You can add it to the Inc. with an app download though.

The DLNA support is nice as well. I Use it a lot to stream to xbox and ps3.

I think one of the greatest deciding factors for choosing which phone is keep was the build quality. Considering that both phones retail for $500+, HTC should be ashamed of the materials that they used on the Incredible. Even though both phones consists of primarily plastic materials (Droid X uses some metal parts), the plastic backing on the Incredible is thinner than my toilet paper. I guess its all preference, and some people like to keep their phones light, but the phone just doesn't feel like a high-end Android device.

Other than that they are both equally top-notch phones, I just wish HTC could of used better materials than they did.

Huh... its as high end as any.

Sorry dude the back on the X is way higher quality than the back on the Incredible. The back cover creaked all the time on my DINC and the HTC letters were falling off (after only 2 months). My X is SOLID. You all can say what you want about anything else but the X wins hands down in the build quality dept...

I am back to my Incredible and happy again. :)

I don't blame you. Coming off of the Dinc to the DX is difficult because of the Sense UI alone. At least it was for me. I loved my Dinc. The two issues for me were call quality and the size of the screen. The DX clearly has the advantage in those two key areas, which is why I got it.

All in all, I am very, very happy with the DX. I believe it is a great phone. I use the word "great" meaning it. It's one of the greatest phones, if not the greatest in the world.

I completely agree with you... I switched because of sense features and size. For me Incredible is more comfortable to hold...but feature wise they both shine each in its own way. They truly are the best devices to have.;)

Sense is great for what it is, but at the end of the day this is still a phone. Poor call quality and battery life is probably the majority factor in deciding which device to choose.

There both good phones...I had the inc for a few months and loved it..even tho the colors are to bright and almost unreal looking.... just like pics you look at them on the phone and wow... put them on the pc and go ohhh lol....at first i wasent sure what phone to keep.. x is better, way better after you have it...X is just simply stunning... watching movies on it w rock player oh my....thing of freeking beauty...oh ya i just hit 38 hours of battery also

New Prizefight involving Droid Incredible

Motorola Droid X vs. HTC Droid Incredible - CNET Prizefight - CNET.com

Got some points knocked off due to not having mobile hotspot, HDMI, 4.3 inch screen and weak battery. We will be getting the 1st, HDMI, eh, I will never ever use that feature personally, 4.3 inch screen... TOO BIG! Weak battery, agree, but I have TP2 1500mAh battery, MUCH BETTER. But still the fastest phone available!

Ya they all said that the 4.3 in screen was too big then they gave the X the advantage in web browsing and multimedia BECAUSE of the 4.3 in screen. Thats bad reviewing.

thanks for giving the link to this! i tried to get to it off of twitter and couldn't. i haven't played around with the x yet. what they said about the mobile hotspot makes me wish the update would come for the inc. i guess there will always be people who like the bigger screen, but i still think the overall size of the incredible is perfect

I have the X and personally I think its too big and buggy, lock screen lags as does swiping screens from time to time.. I prefer the incredible..Phone also freezes on me at least once daily..

Ok. Now put your name at the top and remove Bonnie, Nicole, and Brian. Run through the survey and answer the questions yourself. Now, you'll get the only rating that counts.

I have both. Just got the X today. So far, the UI on the incredible is better. But the voice/call quality of the X is way better, to be expected i guess from motorola. Also the clarity/brightness of the screen on the X is better.

I am on my second replacement with the INC. Each one they send me back has a new set of issues. Here are all my issues to date with the incredible:

dropped calls like crazy indoors, choppy/breaking voice audio, headphone jack issues, busted speaker and speaker volume, oh and ofcourse battery life. It started out bad, but after 3months the battery is useless, needs to be replaced. Too many charge/discharge cycles.

I have been told though that all of these issues will be fixed by the OTA release in August. Will try out this X till then see if i can get over the monstrosity that it is:)

Yes washed out always looks better the popping unrealistic.

Actually the inc colors are oversaturated and washed out. This statement coming from a photographer that uses studio equipment all the time.

I'd say the X has better reproduction of colors and looks less washed out. This coming from an owner of both.

I can't go back to the inc anymore, that screen is just way too tiny now :D

As said above, voice quality on the X is incredible.

The incredible voice quality, I was constantly going "say again, I didn't hear that", even in quiet environments. The X wins by 100 fold in call quality over the inc.

I have zero problems with any calls. and as far as colors. pleeasse... were not talking a plasma vs lcd.. its a 4" screen and ill take eye popping colors anyday.

I saw the X at Best Buy today and picked it up and played with it. The thing is freaking huge. Even with the case on my DInc (which adds to it's size obviously) the naked X is still way bigger. (Also, Naked X would make a great name for a band.) I can't imagine carrying something that big around.

My girlfriend just picked up the droid x. I have the incredible. And, unlike most people on this forum who are so lost in the smugness of the pride of their phone, I like to judge things a little more objectively.

As far as "bigger" goes, yes, it's wider and it's longer than the incredible. But at it's best, it's the same thickness, if not thinner than the incredible. The incredible has all those steps that make you think it's thinner than it really is and the X does not. There's something to be said about a phone that has a (mostly) uniform cross section. It slides very easily in and out of my pocket compared to the incredible. And when I had a case on my inc, forget about it- it caught on my pocket lining ever time leading to many drops.

As far as size goes, unless you wear super tight hipster jeans, the X does just fine.

Hardware wise, I found the X to be supierior in every category. Size, screen quality, industrial design, material it's made out of, etc. It had a good weight to it, it feels superior as far as it's mechanical material goes (fees very sturdy compared to the plasticy incredible), and the screen was superior. Especially in the sun, which is very nice. Being a mechanical engineer, I appreciate the hardware side of it. The battery removal is slick and snappy, it all "clicks" together well because the clips are metallic and well designed with good snap ratios, etc. It definitely will take a drop better than the incredible just because of the material's yield strength... aluminum is exponentially better than PC/ABS and will keep energy from transfering to the glass infront of the screen. This is a very good thing for my girlfriend.

Software? That's where the incredible shined. Sense is nice. Motoblur was not up to my taste, but I'm sure with time it'd be ok. I got used to my incredible so there's a comfort factor there. I changed a bunch of the X's settings to get it "incredible like" but my girlfriend quickly scrubbed that out with her own thing on the phone. From what I could tell, the widgets on motoblur were very clunky. The social networking ones were pretty nice. But the contact widgets were pretty clunky and gaudy. And the contact list doesn't "centralize" like sense's. My contacts keeps a small neat list that I use for calling people. My girlfriend's X threw every single facebook friend of hers on her contact list and (her being a facebooker crazy girl) about had a heart attack as she's having a hard time filtering the ones she actually cares about.

Phone quality seemed the same. Call quality, sound reproduction, etc. The X seemed to have a slightly better sound reproduction. But that's about it.

Reception wise the incredible had the X hands down. She was sitting next to me on my couch, and my apartment is kind of a no-man zone for verizon. It's like the only place on earth verizon doesn't reach lol. I had to put her on my wifi network in order to get her started up on downloading apps via the market. She had good enough reception for facebook (barely) but no enough for downloading. My incredible was throttling downloads. I was getting 3g. She was getting 1x.

The X battery (out of the box) beats my stock 1350mha battery pretty bad. After I put a 1500 htc battery in it, I haven't had any issues making it through the day before hitting 40% on heavy-moderate usage. As far as how much she uses it and how long she can go without charging, it's still up in the air. But she has been making it through the day in a similar manner to my new battery. So the X has the incredible there (if the incredible is stock). But the 1500mha battery fixes this quite well for low dollar.

A lot of this is opinion, much like all the other ones on here, so take it for what you will. But a lot of this was just mere observation, too.
