I'm curious, does your girlfriend have any issues holding the phone? I find phones the size of the X and Evo to be too large for me to hold comfortably and I've been wondering if other women have the same issues.

I'm curious, does your girlfriend have any issues holding the phone? I find phones the size of the X and Evo to be too large for me to hold comfortably and I've been wondering if other women have the same issues.
so far she has not complained. She had the samsung omnia before this which was like, half the size or so. She actually likes the phone's size. I think it's due to her bad eye sight and the fact that it makes typing, selecting stuff very easy.
She's got very small hands and she hasn't complained about holding it. If I was questionable about it, I'd go try it out in a store and compare. Holding the two phones tells a lot about them. They feel drastically different. I liked the X. But I also like my incredible for different reasons.
She doesn't store it anywhere but her purse, so storage size is not an issue.
I'll be sure to update this thread if she finds it too big for her small hands. I could see where this might be problematic. I've got long fingers so it worked well for me.

This is the Incredible subforum you're in. It's of course all a matter of preference. I would go with the incredible. But they both have issues, no way around it.
My classmate just got the Droid X and I asked to see it briefly.
I have small hands and found the X uncomfortable to hold in the same manner I hold the Incredible, which is to "palm" it.
I can see someone with small hands holding the X differently, such as not palming but with an..."eagle claw" I guess you could say, where only finger tips hold the sides of the device.
I was turned off by the size of the X but impressed with how snappy it felt; TI OMAP is definitely better than the Snapdragon in my opinion.
So I just activated my Incredible today, and I think im psyching myself out that its so small. I have bigger hands, but not like giant hands. Im coming from a Blackberry Storm. I had played around with the X, but preferred the Sense UI. I hope I get use to how small the Incredible seems.

Like some have said, both are good phones. Like with any product they will have their pros and cons. Whats make the phone good for you is all that matters.

Storage isn't an issue for me either as I carry mine in a purse most of the time too.
My hands are pretty small, almost child-like small actually. I found my hands hurt when I tried out the Evo and the X and held them for a long period of time. I've seen men with larger hands hold both comfortably though, so I guess it all depends on size and what you prefer.
I find the Incredible perfect; it doesn't hurt my hands and I can hold it comfortably with no issues.
Hopefully your girlfriend doesn't run into any issues with her X! It would stink to have any with such an awesome phone!
The X and the Evo are simply amazing; I've tried both out and they're great, but I have the same issue

In fact, I sold my Inc after having the X for a while. The inc just seemed so tiny and toy-like.
Both are great phones, and of course you'll have a bias towards the inc in the inc forum

So, after 3 years of owning it I decided that I just really did not like my Storm. My company sent me the Incredible which I do like however it is not supported by our IT department (brilliant, eh?). I have now ordered the Droid X, and the only real major complaint or con listed is the size. Is the X really that bulky? The Inc seems to me to be a smallish phone and fits well in my hand. I always use holsters so I wouldn't worry about putting a phone in my pocket. So far the only thing I've been able to 'customize' is a ringtone that I downloaded, I can't seem to change the notification alerts to anything other than what is pre-loaded on the phone. The construction does not seem that sturdy either. The call quality seemed okay however this phone only gets one, maybe two bars where my BB always had full bars. Just looking for some input...

Unless you have Burger King dude small hands, you'll be fine
I'm not so sure there's a belt clip for the phone. You may want to ask the questions in the X forum, you'll probably get some better responses.

i was ordering the droid x, but was put off by the size...i have been reading up on the X and incredible for a month now, and had thought, like many, the X was the superior device, yet after reading about the froyo upgrade, it seems the major features of the X are coming to the incredible anyway...so besides a slightly better processor, and the larger screen, what improvement over the incredible does the X offer?

I played with an X today. Aside from the issues with the piss poor performing UI it comes with (what were they thinking), the size is just uncomfortable. The Dinc sits balanced perfectly in my hand. I liked how thin it was, but it was just ridiculously large.
I played with the X last week. I had the same exact thoughts. I'm not sure I'd say it's ridiculously large, I probably COULD make it work for me (it's still a good device, and if I never had/seen the DrInc I'd be pretty happy with it. Ok, I'd be furious about the eFuse on principle, but I'd be happy with it). But it's uncomfortable, and unnecessary, compared to the DrInc.
And AMOLED > LCD, even with the stupid Pentile submatrix.

I have read all the posts in this topic and i wanted to add my two cents.
First let me start by saying sorry for my spelling I'm a terrible speller. I preordered the Dinc on day one, and for the first two days i was happy. Then i started noticing little things
1: call quality wasn't that good, some times it sounded like i was talking to a robot with words dropping in and out of the conversation.
2: Terrible battery life, i mean horrible. If i didn't turn my phone off to charge it at night and just did a regular charge, i would be at 70 percent batter life after a 15 min blue tooth call.
3: I couldn't dock the phone in a car dock. The screen wouldn't work unless i was touching the phone, this was extremely annoying.
4: when using my phone's blue tooth to stream music it would cut in and out atleast once some times twice a song like a cd skipping, I thought maybe this was just the quality of blue tooth music streaming.
After dealing with Verizon and they couldn't provide me with a phone that had
A: good call quality and
B: could be put in a car adapter and have the touch screen work they offered me a X
At first i didn't want to do it because i liked my Dinc even with its flaws but after a week or so of thinking about i thought what the heck i got nothing to lose.
Let me tell you i couldn't be happier i traded. Is the droid X perfect... no but it is much better than what i had in many ways. Call quality is great blue tooth streaming is like listening to cd's no skipping. Battery life is so much better. I can now dock my phone and use the touch screen. The graphics processor seams a lot better. Scoring 47 on neocore where my dinc scored 26. Heck my friends g1 and my work scored a 21.
Are there things i don't like yes the moto ui is pretty bad. I use launcher pro now and its smooth as butter except the lock screen. I also like the contact list of the dinc better than the droid x.
with this being said i would like to also point out a few other reasons i switched.
1: The screen looks just as good to me as the Dinc
2: Its really not that much bigger than the Dinc it has much less wasted space it doesn't have quarter of a inch of nothing below and above the screen instead the whole phone is screen giving you the larger screen with out a HUGE increase in size. its larger but not by a ton.
3: No dock for the DINC... are you kidding a phone like that they cant even make a dock that works with it. Makes me scared that they will drop it sooner than later.

Have to say I was a bit afraid I'd really like and want the Droid X ... I am a longtime Moto fan and the phone just seemed perfect ... boy was I wrong. (Warning: personal opinion ahead...) There is no comparison between these two phones. The Droid X is GIGANTIC in comparison to the DInc, for starters. Build quality (which I expected to be better than HTC) was the same or worse. The physical buttons on the bottom turned me off (can you say grunge collector?). The deal breaker for me though was actually USING the phone. HTC Sense is SO FAR AHEAD of Blur or whatever Moto calls their UI, it's pathetic. The Droid X was not nearly as responsive to my swipes, and the screen paled in comparison to the DInc. For _me_, hands down, the DInc is the better phone.
Was also hilarious listening to a VZW sales rep push the X over the DInc. Are the DIncs still out of stock? That would explain it. He basically raved about the X and was less enthusiastic about the DInc ... but when they asked him what he was using ... it was a DInc.

I would worry less about bars and more about practical reception/data speeds.
The trouble is that bars are an almost arbitrary representation of signal strength. It's up to the manufacturer to determine what constitutes a strong signal or a weak signal.
See Apple's recent software update where they claimed that their antenna problem was actually a result of the software displaying more bars than it should have. A number of "reception problem" updates across manufacturers aren't actually fixing anything but the number of bars displayed.
That's not to say that your BB couldn't have had a substantially better radio in it. It certainly could have. However, the difference between full bars and 1 bar is so substantial that the truth is probably partly a better radio, but partly a different scale for the bars.
They're both great phones. I prefer the call quality on my X (remember I gave my Dinc back after 59 days and I was one of those waiting here for it since February in that massive incredible thread). Call quality is vastly important to me as I run my business through the cellphone.
Also, the screen size is important for me as I'm older. Having said that, I still loved the Dinc. You can't go wrong with it. I hear Froyo will improve in-call quality.
The best thing about my X is that it is ROOTED! That's the first time in my life I've done so. Very happy with it.
Oh yeah, and Beautiful Widgets makes it look as if it's Sense UI. I loved Sense. Some don't, I did. Didn't like the blur widgets, but I do like the resizing thing.

The X is larger but its not GIGANTIC it looks much larger but has no wasted space on top or bottom of the phone its pretty much ALL screen.

No, by those numbers the Incredible is 869 times as big. It's the length of a football field goalpost to goalpost.

I agree Steven, the Dinc is a good phone but call quality and signal strength is hands down better on the X. Htc sense is better than blur so i use launcherpro.
I tried Launcher Pro Plus, but it made my screen too laggy. After froyo comes Froyo and now that I'm rooted, I'm going to use it then. (after froyo as I hear it stabilizes things).
