Root DX Gingerbread 2.3.3 Update.zip released! TBH

Just general stuff that I can't easily back up. High scores in games, my Doggcatcher podcasts (doesn't seem to read current podcasts well when I switched over), preferences for all of my apps, user dictionary...

It's not impossible to set back up (minus stuff like game high scores). I just like pulling everything over as I switch from ROM to ROM. I may try to screw with it tonight and get everything back in order... unless someone has suggestions for a non-rooted way to yank all of your app data over.

ahh...yeah i hear ya on that stuff...hopefully root will come soon and Titanium will be back up and running...

im also ready to break 2000 in Quadrant after overclocking

Unfortunately, it's a little bit of a pain in the butt to switch back and forth since you have to SBF/re-root/restart/install bootstrapper/restart/restore. Could streamline it a bit if I put bootstrapper on my SD card rather than downloading it every time, could skip activation... Hmm.

totally!...im hoping root is achieved soon, because it will make the process oh so much smoother!...what i REALLY hope is that root is achieved before the official OTA is pushed out (im sure it will be)...flashing maderstcok to get the update is just much easier than going through the whole SBF process...

Thanks for the info. I actually downloaded sms backup and restore earlier. Pretty good app. I'm not worried about the limits as I use handcent as opposed to stock messenger anyway. But I also want my high scores preferences etc to carry over so I guess I'll be waiting for 2.3 to be rooted as well.

yeah, things like high scores and stuff are no go until we get root back up

No problem. Actually, it might have been a bit of an improvement. My car stereo will pair phone and media. Very frequently, when I get in my car, my DX only pairs phone until I press the play button on my stereo and then it will pair media. Not really a big deal but it does happen.

In several connections/disconnections this morning, it paired both, reliably and immediately. That almost never happens.

Do I need to wipe my phone to install this? So I'll lose my Angry Birds scores and text messages?

text messages can be backed up and restored easily...you can back up your angry birds in titanium and restore them once we get root...but until we get root you wont have your scores...

I'm liking the new cursor button on the bottom of the text input box. The old "red targetting" system was a p.i.a. to try to get to the correct spot. This is much more accurate.

ROooooot....where are youuuuuu?

OK just saw something that was really nice in a different forum. The battery tracking has been much improved in this build. If you go to Settings > Battery & Data Manager > Battery Usage you will get the screen that shows the apps using your power as before. However at the top there is a gray bar that the time the battery has been used but if you look closely it is actually a graph and the broken blue line below is another graph. If you click in the gray area it will be up a bigger graph that will show you the times where your battery was draining the most, the phone signal, when your phone was awake and when the screen was on.

I did not know this, but thought I would share. Have not been able to quit playing with the build to know if it is better or not, but we will be able to track it a lot better now if we are seeing battery drain.

dumb question I have been looking and havent found anything on it. if I flash gingerbread can I sbf back to froyo??? no one has said yes or no to this so maybe someone can say yay or nay to this

Yes you can. I will probably do it later today or maybe tomorrow, I miss root :D

quick and painless install, like everyone said running seamless......also i havent had any issues to report all of my apps came....loving the midnight blue....

Same here, all apps auto-restored from my previous 3.4.2 ROM. No issues whatsoever.

Any indications on better battery life on GB? I just installed while at work so can't speak to my own battery life.

I'm definitely getting better battery with the screen ON. In Liberty 1.5 I underclocked to about 15 vsel so I got good standby time (64 vsel at 1300mHz)

I normally get about 2-2.5 hrs of display time with Liberty. Yesterday, I unplugged at 50% and when I was down to 20% I had already the display on for 1hr 15 min. Today, I've been in class from 10am-4pm and I've gotten roughy the same battery life.

So all in all, I'm pretty happy. Standby time seems to be on par with underclocked froyo. When we get root, I'm sure battery life will increase

...must resist....waiting for root...:o

I flashed it earlier. It is a very nice upgrade to Froyo. But, I felt naked without root so I SBF'd and went back to Fission till root is established.

GB is very nice though and can't wait to go back but for now will have to wait. Just had a little taste this morning and it was very nice.:D
