Eris to v2.x, when?

So I was in the versizon store tonight looking over the palm pre. There were 2 guys talking about 5 feet away from me. One of the guys is a sales rep for verizon, the other guy I dunno.

I overheard a few tidbits but not enough to understand what was being said exactly. When the other gentleman walked away I asked the rep what was happening. I know him because I bought my Eris there.

He asked me how I was liking the Eris, I said just fine. I asked him about the new moto coming, he didn't know. I casually said I can't wait until 2.xx comes to the Eris. He said that according to internal documents and from his conversation with the other guy (I learned later he was an area rep for verizon) that 2.xx was pushed out a few weeks. The original date was the end of January. He said that we should expect to 2.xx in the upcoming week to 10 days. That's all I got from him.

And OTD, quit starring at me. I know you like my hat.

Well we will just have to see if they were right.
 
That co-insides with what I have been hearing and the conference that is happening Feb. 12th-15th with HTC and some others. So basically they don't know if it will be Friday or Monday when it is over. I strongly believe that this is the day.
 
I would like to see both happen yesterday......but. I wanted root access so I could put 2.x on my Eris. So if 2.x comes sooner then root won't be as important to me. I can't think of anything that I would like to put on my phone than Sense with 2.x. I don't need tethering, I would like louder volume so it is a toss up. I could go on and on but I think you get my point.

No processor tweaks or apps on the SD card?
 
I have been patiently waiting for the 2.xx update since December... I was excited on Jan 22 which was the date I heard first... now that I hear it'll be within the week to 10 days I am anxious once more... I played with a pre plus today... no lag... plastic outside and a nasty UI...

The Pre blows. Was playing with it in the store. keyboard's weak, it's cute and all but meh, like my Eris better.
 
@Smacky, That is where the last part comes in. I can find positives and negatives all day. It is just going to come down to how 2.x run on the Eris. I still have no need to load A2SD even if I could. Roms that are not made by HTC are always buggy and I have already had the orgasim that rooting and changing roms brings. I just want what everyone wants and it will be a while until a rom comes that is speedy and tolerable for everyday use. You have to treat these things as mini computers because that is what they are. You need to keep things clean and organized for them to run right. If you have to many apps sure its going to run slow, so does your PC or Mac. That is why the iPhone is snappy, no more than one thing done at a time. I do not run a task manager and I keep apps in a backup file on SD card for quick load so I don't have to search the Market each time. I keep the phone free of clutter. I only have my main apps loaded and load the others when I want to use them. I laugh at people that have all this crap they hardly use on their phone and complain that it is slow. Its a 528Mhz processor for **** sake what do you expect. It is just like in any situation, the easier it is to find something the easier it will be to get a task done.
 
I know this has been done to death but, my gf is an IT support for retail stores as her core job but also supports directors and VP's that work in her building for verizon, so she hears things thru the store all the way up the ladder. VZW just had their sales kickoff recently and all they were told was first qtr for 2.xxx for Eris.....and they were not told what version it will be. The sales people pressed for and answer and I honestly dont think the people from HTC have specified yet. From what they were told 2.0 and maybe 2.0.1 is ready to go, but they are trying to get everyone running the same software, so they are trying to get 2.1 done for us so everyone on Android will have the same, at least thru VZW. If 2.1 isnt ready, they will release at the most up-to-date that is ready to go at the end of March. The only way we will get anything sooner is if 2.1 is ready to go sooner. I am not saying that store employees are lying or being dishonest, but if they are saying much more than that they have better info than the director of sales does, and I dont think anyone at the store level knows more than that. I've never posted in any forum b/f, so I hope I'm doing this correctly. Hope everyone enjoys watching my Colts beat up on the Saints tomorrow. Good evening.

Thanks for that info, Jason. It has a ring of common sense to it, especially the part about if 2.1 is not ready they'll release what they do have developed by the end of the quarter.

As far as the Super Bowl this evening; I don't live anywhere near either team, but I've been a Colts fan since their Baltimore days (I'm very, VERY old ;)) and hope they trounce the Aints for all 60 minutes of playing time.

I don't see how the Saints are the underdogs. The Colts are great, but I feel the Saints are just gonna bombard the Colts with their offense that the defense is just gonna crumble. Peyton, HOF QB, isn't enough to win. In most cases, yes, but not against the offense of the Saints.

We'll see. I feel I'm one of the few that thinks the Saints will win, but I also feel like I'm missing something important that everyone else is seeing, but me. Then again, I still feel confident in my choice. So we'll see how it ends up.

I thought one of the inherent qualities of a true meme was its inevitability as an organic process as opposed to it being willed or brought into being intentionally.

I used to pronounce it "me-me." Then I went to a lecture about memes in Wellington, N.Z. I was startled to hear the expert and everyone else there pronounce it "meem."

Me-me is cuter. Cute is cool (just ask my parakeet, Dickie). So let's go back to me-me.

With this all in mind, along with your insight about 2.1 becoming a me-me here, we can continue with new found resolution and a beer.

Me personally, I'd rather see 2.xx pushed out first. I wanna see how well HTC has optimized android with sense or sense with android. Because 1.5 with sense kinda sucks.

Rooting is all fine and stuff but I'm not really interested in possibly bricking my phone or have certain things not work correctly. Also, with rooting unless you want the plain jane version of android on your phone, you're kinda at the mercy of whomever cooks your shit. I don't cook. :)

If HTC gets it right, I'm all good in the hood. I really like sense as I'm sure most of you do too. Gimme sense w/2.xx or gimme death. LOL
