Root Evo 4G problem

I have this odd problem it's running Myn warm 2.2 right now but after doing a restore with a backup the 4G radio is cycling on and off.. and my first clue was the battery was draining like really quick from 52% to 35 in under 5 min and that's when I saw in the settings the 4G was turning on and off without me pressing it.. How can I stop this? I've only saw one post on another site but no one ever responded.

try wiping dalvik cache and cache.

Ok that worked but now another issue popped up.. Titanium backup the program does not seem to want to restore.. It will just hang on 1 of 290 for a long time..

:-/

Not that I know of.. I backed up with Ti backup then I went to clockwork mod and backed up as well then when all was done I did a restore with the clockwork.. Maybe I just need to do it from titanium instead?

Looks like I'd need to wipe the phone yet again.. I can't see how I can get anything to download like right now I'm in the market trying to download titanium backup and it just hangs at starting download it's odd..

yeah i would do a full wipe and re-flash it.

Yep just did that now it's rebooting.. My contact ends in July 17th 2012 I hope some good phone is out on Sprint then.. Haven't been to happy with HTC

really?i have tried out other phones, but i find that htc does a decent job at making new phones. every phone though i have found will have issues. i have yet to find one that does not. and htc highend phones are great. i mean look at our evo. it is over a year now and it is still going strong. the sprint sales people say that i'm eligible for an upgrade in nov. but they say that they can get me to upgrade now if i want to. i told them no and that i love my evo and will wait and see what is out by nov. i have no interest right now to get a new phone, especially since the devs are putting out great roms.

maybe when I switch from the Myn warm 2.2 but it's the little stuff that annoys me with the phone.

Speaking of little stuff not that I will but Sprint allows you to upgrade early? and I use Dolphin browser and it seems like the pages are never really as fast as they should be for some reason

well crap I spoke too soon.. somehow when trying to restore with Ti it causes the phone to reboot and it just hangs at the screen saying Warm twopointtwo and says please wait while starting.. been like this for 20 min now.

i would try a new rom. mikg2.55 is a great rom to try out. it is superfast and very stable. i was on myn's 2.2 when i first rooted. but it was not until i moved on, did i notice how fast the other roms are. try mikg i think that yo will like it.

I want to try it but not at a location where I can put it on the phone..

I can't remember since it was a long time ago but do I need any android Apk's or anything like that?

I use clockwork to flash right?

clockwork mod is fine to flash the rom, but i like amon ra better as a recovery. it is more stable and wipes better then clockwork mod. plus if you have clockwork mod 3 or higher, you can't flash certain zip files. only clockwork mod 2.6 and amon ra 2.3 as well as the new TRWP recovery can you not worry about what files you can flash. if you want to switch go here:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html. there is a switching recovery section in the guide with instructions oh how to switch your recovery.

I hope one of the cables I will work for this if so I can try to do it now I've heard good stuff about the other recovery so I'm going to finally try to get it to work..

Maybe I should just wipe and replace both since now my phone is stuck on the htc evo 4G white screen right now..

Arrrghh

Oh is this MikRom 2.3?

man had to drive 10 miles home to go get the OEM cable since the other cables only seem to just charge the phone..

One thing I have the ROM downloaded but do I just transfer the ZIP or do I do like the receovery and take the .zip part off? Or do I just move everything over to the root of the SD?

Just copy everything to the root of the sd card. I would update the recovery first then the ROM. Good Luck and if you have any problems just come back here someone is always willing to take time to help

just make sure that neither say zip.zip if they do remove the last zip.

And here we go again..

I just flashed my phone to this but after wiping and flashing the ROM the phone is in a endless loop of rebooting and not doing anything else.

ok lets see if you have a card issue.

If Possible take out the card an place it in a card reader and in windows click start > Run and type cmd

in Cmd type
chkdsk x:\ /f /r
REPLACE X WITH DRIVE LETTER

if windows reports any bad spots then you need to replace the card. If not then you could have another hardware issue but lets keep it simple right now.

It is possible you got a bad download and could try to download it again. The battery getting warm could have caused a problem with your SD CARD Hopefully it didnt do any other damage.

I can't take out the card because I don't have a micro sd card reader on hand..

This is what happened I flashed the ROM but it's stuck on the rainbow color HTC background but I show the new battery meter but I have no icons and none of the menu buttons have any effect.. heck holding down the power button does nothing at all.

yep can't access it.

I don't need to wipe or clear anything after flashing a ROM right? at least not that I think I need to do that.

I have been there, done that. you are doing ok.

here is the steps. Go into recovery. In AmonRA, there is a USB toggle, that enable you to use the phone as a disk drive. You can then copy the ROM over to the phone that way.

By wiping everything, it means to check every box on the Wipe menu, EXCEPT SD card. I would do each one 2 times to be sure.

I would also re flash the newest version of the Radios. That way you know that they will get a chance to install correctly as you problems are exactly what happens when the radios are not right.

Flash the ROM FIRST, DO NOT REBOOT AFTER DONE. FLASH RADIOS, then reboot. Once the ROM loads up and you get everything set up. Titanium restores apps in revers alphabetical order. Some of the app restores take a long time if there is a lot of data with it. Be patient. Do not do anything else with the phone while it is doing it. I even put my phone in airplane mode to make sure.

hope this helps, there is nothing wrong with the EVO as a phone. It is still top dog for what it was made for.

there are dozens of tweaks that can be done to Warm 2.2. There is a battery tweak, SBC kernels, browser flashes, themes. 2.2 is about the most stable rom available.
