I first saw her in the series “Our House,” which our family all enjoyed. Her reputation in Hollywood was of being difficult to work with, though she mellowed some as she got older and after her cancer and I always thought she was a good actress.

Like I said yesterday, was reading The Shining's sequal, also loved her in the Fairy Tales saga when I was younger, but we have it on dvd box set.
 
Abdul "Duke" Fakir, the last surviving original member of The Four Tops, has died at 88.

Most here probably will not remember The Four Tops, and while they predated my adolescence a bit, I definitely knew the group and listened to them all the time. Reading an obit about Duke listed several of their songs and I could hear all of them in my head.

When the forum was having bouts of indigestion, I read that terrific actress Gena Rowlands passed away on Wednesday at the age of 94. She’d been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s a few years back.

^^^ I popped in just to mention that. He was a visionary and launched the whole concept of daytime talk shows…for better or worse. He was gracious and courteous to his guests and whenever I saw the show I enjoyed it.
The obit I read said that he died peacefully after a long illness surrounded by family, including his wife of 44 years, actress Marlo Thomas. Quite a legacy.

Former Olympic cyclist Daniela Larreal Chirinos was found dead in her Las Vegas apartment on August 16 after being reported missing four days prior. (Aside: One would think that authorities would check “home” before waiting a few days.)
Initial reports suggest that she died from choking on food.
She competed in five Olympics representing her native country of Venezuela.
She was just 50.

I just learned that actress and comedian Mitzi McCall died on August 8 at 93, apparently from natural causes.
