You're right. Unfortunately. I find myself getting them confused in my head, because they're so frequent. One night I went to bed with the news of the mass shooting in El Paso. In the morning, the news was talking about the mass shooting--in Ohio. I thought, "I'm SURE they said El Paso last night...but I guess it was really Dayton..." I was stunned to find they were two separate events, hours apart.

Okay, I'll stop here because this isn't the right place. I may break my personal rule and venture over to P&CA...or not.

I'm very saddened by the death of a woman I admired very much, Cokie Roberts. She died at 75 from complications of breast cancer.

Ms Roberts was a trailblazer in many ways in the journalism world, which was very male dominated when she started.

Her inquisitive mind and pointed questions, along with her constant professionalism, will be sorely missed.

Just saw updates that the body of Alana Cutland was found nearly two weeks after she jumped from a plane in Madagascar. I had mentioned her death back on page 16; it was thought that they might never find her body. Results of the autopsy were not publicized, at least I could not find them, but the news articles keep mentioning the antimalarial drug she was taking. An article on Sep. 11 focuses on the reports that many people have reported suicidal ideation while taking the drug: two out of three specifically mentioned, had actually committed suicide. People were pushing for label warnings about suicidal thoughts for the antibiotic, sometimes used for treatment of acne. Name of drug: doxycycline. Medicine I would make certain to stay away from.
 
From what I got out of the article mentioning the deaths, there have been quite a few reports of this potentially fatal side effect. I am quite surprised that there isn't already a black box warning, but then, one thinks, big pharma. Somebody has been making money on this drug for years. At least in the US, government moves slowly when there is business money involved.
