best way to improve is to flash CM6/7, but not everyone wants to venture that far away from stock. In that case you can install ClockworkMod recovery (CWM) and flash my PlayfulMod over your 2.2 update. Advantages? Rooted, all bloatware apps in system apps will be gone and the rest can be removed by usinf root explorer to delete the app dir in the /cust/metropcs dir. It is also deodex'd which makes it easier to theme. Also has DT's apps2sd installed which will allow you to move all apps to the sdcard and free up internal storage/memory. And I change out the bootanimation and sound to a custom one which you can change to something more to your liking if you so wishHey guys and girls...ive been spending a week or so in the forums while at work. and stumbled upon a forum just for ppl like me with e huawei ascend, pretty cool. so i have the 2.2 upgrade and have minimal experience so far. you all sound like a pretty seasoned bunch so im here to ask for any tips/pointers on improving my android experience i love the android tech. and would def love to delve further into its greatness! thanks for taking your time to point a NooB in the right direction.

+1 thats the easiest way of getting it n installing it, just tap on flash CWM twice in rom manager to ensure it installs. Once its installed it should list it as such and version number. After that just follow one of the detail guides in the Ultimate guide thread. You can get CWM through ROM Manager, which you can get from the Market.
So which came first, the chicken or the egg?also if you install cm7, rom manager is built in the build already.
I find em on my own n put em where they gowhats a good app to download boot animations?
I find em on my own n put em where they go
all the bootsanimiations I have used have came from xda If they're not made for the resolution of my phone (the ascend in this case) I open em up in winrar, dbl click on the desc.txt (will open up in notepad by default) and edit the resolution (first 2 sets of #'s) to 320 480. then click save in notepad, then winrar will prompt asking if I want to replace the file in the archive, click yes, and whala the resolution will fit the ascends screen. then place the bootanimation.zip in the system/media dir on the phone n reboot to see your new bootanimation.Nice lol, but where do i find awesome ones? can i have one of your boots?
Ok so i got the 3D Digital Weather Clock Gadget (Unpaid Version). However for some reason the time is not staying updated with my system time. If i don't use my phone for lets say 3hrs, and i go and unlock it, the time on the gadget is 3hrs behind.
I am running the stock 2.1 rom, rooted, with all the junkware removed. I am using SetCPU, and SD Increase as well as VM Heap. Other than that i am not using any task killers other than Cachemate which i would not really call a task killer.
Any suggestions. I have tried updating to most recent release, as well as going back to older versions, and still the same problem is happening.
