Feedback guys :D

I just got here a lots of threads about Liberty so how is that ROM running??

How using it how is that working vs the old rom...like fission or apex etc.

Give us all the info plz so we might try it :p

I've been running it for the day. It's very smooth, very stable and very configurable. I like it a lot. I've added it right up with the other top roms. I like it a lot and recommend it to newbies and olbies alike. I tend to look after newbies, because I used to be one. So, they look to me for advice. This is a very newbie friendly rom. DX'ers rejoice.

now i hope i dont get a comment like get google voice again, lol will this rom have visual voicemail? i have the .apk from fabs apex, will that work?

Gummy/Liberty both have Exchange email issues that prevent me from using them (unless I want to enter a 9 char strong password when I wake my phone). I didn't notice any huge speed difference between either of them over Apex or Fission.

Still playing a bit with Fission, but suspect I'll end back to Apex.

Reading about your exchange issues the other day, that's the big hold up for me. I don't want to have to enter a pw everytime I wake up my phone.

I'm happy with my phone right now and love to tweak but Exchange is a must for me.

Friendly enough to make it my first ROM??...I know we discussed this the other day and had decided on ApeX...but all the talk and hype surrounding this ROM has had me thinking....

Couple quick questions...there are a few things I like about the stock ROM...namely the camera and the messaging apps...

Is it possible to install them after flashing this ROM and using them over the existing apps??

I had to enter my PW about a dozen times in about an hour while checking out Liberty today. I suspect I could set my timeout time to 5 minutes, but would still be annoying. Even once per day takes the fun out of it. To make matters worse, except for the new themes, I didn't notice any dramatic speed increase over any of the roms I've tried.

Metfanant, did you get your boot issues resolved?
I am all about being blurless, Liberty actually gives you some blur options plus the Toolbox is a must have and is very nice. Toolbox gives you A whole lot of resources and things to tweak and play with, in the menu/phone settings/Liberty settings also has many options to do many things But this is advise coming from a guy who has only had gummy and this is a tweaked out gummy. I'm loving it.

Liberty is my favorite so far. I've used both ApeX and Fission for over a month each and liked both, but Liberty looks to be the most full featured, stable, and fastest ROM I've tried. There is a noticeable improvement in overall system speed compared to ApeX and Fission.

Apex and Liberty are by far my favorites
Liberty has a slight lead cause of all the awesome options it has built right in, Someone get Fab, Jrummy and Kjar together for a rom....actually I think if those three got together the bootloader would fall from sheer AWESOMENESS

This is the only issue holding me back from flashing this rom. I really need my blur email app.

I guess I really shouldn't complain. After all, there are two awesome roms (ApeX and TranQ) that corporate sync and blur email works fine with. ApeX is the one I'm running now and I do love it.

Still, it would be nice to try something different every now and then. Maybe in a future build? I can dream, right?

My first ROM was ApeX, but then i decided to test out Gummy. It ran a lot faster than ApeX but seemed very buggy so i went back to ApeX. Apex is pretty brilliant, and has just the right amount of Blur and is VERY stable.

However i couldn't get over how much quicker the phone was with Gummy and how much i really didn't need blur and that everything i used was already in android.

So i gave Fission a shot. Very quick rom, easy to customize and keep updated with the fission manager, plus lots of add ons. I got my phone set up perfectly with only one minor bug (batter manager FC) but that has ended up fixing itself.

I decided to give Tranquility a shot but that just about bricked my phone and ran like crap so i went back to Fission.

Downloaded Liberty to see what all the fuss was about. Before installing i cleared data 3 times, and then factory reset as soon as it installed to try and avoid any bugs.
Liberty is definitely a nice ROM and has a tonne of customization features which are very nice. However, i got some bugs right away. I was unable to open the liberty settings until i downloaded the market app liberty toolbox. Also i kept getting FC's throughout the settings menu.
I thought about sticking with it, however I decided that while there where a lot of nice customization features, i wasn't really going to use them. I'm the type of person to just get my phone how i like it, and keep it that way. So i ended up just returning to my Fission backup and sticking with that.

I feel like Liberty is absolutely perfect for those who are constantly modding and tweaking things on their phone. But for those who like to get things set and then leave it be, Fission seems to be better just because of how stable it is, and well put together it seems. I know that now i have everything set how i like i can just leave it be without any problems.

I'm gonna keep an eye on Liberty and see if they add anything new, if they do i may just SBF my phone and try flashing Liberty from a completely stock phone and see how it does.

Yes, I love Fission... I really don't want to try a new ROM for 2 reason. I hate to download everything again and setup everything again the way I like it... second.. I don't want to deal with bugs. Fission 2.5.7 has no issues and its fast.. no reboots, and everything works fine.

I like Apex, but have been running fission for about a week. It's nice to have a different choice of themes.

I'm not sure why anyone would have had to download the liberty toolbox. it was included in my rom
I have not had any FC's with this rom either.
it's fast and works great.
HDMI doesn't work I don't think
and the dialer leaves a bit to be desired. but for the most part, very fast, very stable and very awesome!

now i hope i dont get a comment like get google voice again, lol will this rom have visual voicemail? i have the .apk from fabs apex, will that work?

I saw in another thread that apparently the Verizon visual voicemail app in the market will work on Liberty.

I am loving Liberty. I have used Apex, TranQ, and a few others. Liberty is head and shoulders better on my phone. No issues at all. I used to use Tranq because of the toolbox, but the Liberty toolbox is so much better. The bar has been raised for the others. I can't wait to see what come next.

I've liked just about every ROM I've tried to date (except Rubix... for some reason that one made my phone run slower than stock). Apex, GummyJAR, Liberty, Fission... you can't go wrong with any of them. They all have a few different characteristics, but to be honest I find that there isn't anything monumentally different that sets any of them apart from the other one.

Sure Gummy may or may not run a bit faster than Apex (depends on your device), Apex might have a better mixture of blur than Fission (if you like blur), and Fission may have more options than Apex or Gummy... but they are still all very similar, and better than stock forsure. With the bootloader being locked it's hard to create something that's a complete departure from what we get out of the box. The customization is very limited. That's not to say the devs haven't done a fantastic job in giving us custom ROMs, they have... it's just that they had to do it with one arm behnd their back and their shoelaces tied together.

That being said, my previous fav was Gummy due to the fact that it was stripped down as much as possible and ran faster than any other ROM, save Ultimate Droid. So when Liberty came out with the toolbox and what not I fully expected to try it out and run right back to GJ just like I had with all the other ROMs I tried after GummyJAR. I figured the options would load it down and make it run slower. This wasn't the case however. It in fact seems to run just as fast as Gummy and has all those options to boot. The thing is the options aren't actually built into the ROM, so they don't slow it down. You pull up the toolbox and when you want to make an adjustment, change the theme or whatever, you click on it and it downloads it off of the internet. Fantastic way to keep the speed of GummyJAR with all the customization possibilities any of the other ROMs offered (IMO).

So Liberty is my new everyday ROM. And heck this is 1.0 so I can only imagine where it's going to go from here. I'm sure (I hope anyways) they will find a solution for Exchange. And any and all bugs that may be in it (I've found very few so far) should get worked out over time. It's about as good as we're probably going to get for the DX if you ask me. With all the new devices coming out I'm sure we'll see less and less support for it as the devs tackle bigger and better challenges. I'm stilll holding out for them to find a way to crack the bootloader. If the Bionic comes with the exact same encription I'm thinking that will give the hacker community a second wind to get it cracked which would bennefit us and the D2 owners as well. That's my dream anyhow.

If it doesn't come out with the same type of lock, then it may be a hopeless quest for us. Since it won't matter as much anymore I don't see any big push to crack it coming. And without it cracked I'd say they've gone about as far as they can go with what the devs have to work with. This doesn't mean we won't see any new ROMs in the future, but they won't be exponentially better than what we already have. Just some further tweaking would be my guess.

So grab one of these ROMs (or all of them) and figure out which of them gives you the best Android experience. No one ROM is an 'every mans' ROM. There are certainly some that are more popular than others. But none of them are for EVERYONE. Which is why having the choice to try out anything that's out there is such an awesome part of the Android experience.

For me anyway.

I would love to look into the Exchange issue.. Problem is, I don't have an exchange account that I can use :(

Well I do, but the our LAN admin has it locked down. The only way I can get exchange email is to use Touch Down.

If you are able to provide me with an exchange account the exhibits the problem I would be happy to help out.
