Froyo 2.2 OTA is just around the corner

I'm asking for the 2nd time in this thread, please do not post personal insults towards another member and/or bickering comments in here. This is not the place for that. If you have an issue with another member, PM them with your concern, but do not bring that argument onto here.

And now back to 2.2 discussion..
 
I am getting tired of all the bickering that seems to happen in this community. I come from PPC Geeks and never had to read so much arguing or name calling. What is this? The first grade? This is suppose to be a community of help one another make these devices better.
 
I saw on another forum that Verizon announced it was coming out starting 9/22. Looking for confirmation.
 
I just noticed that my post was taken off all together... hmmm and i didn't even think it was offensive hmmmmm :rolleyes:

Anyways as to the topic there i am glad you phone doesn't self destruct after checking for update so many times i think i would be crying if it did:D

I agree, and I ALSO apologize for my part. It's just upsetting when I put up 2 posts, not insulting ANYONE, yet, the same person finds reason to attack both posts and add a personal insult when I'm just trying to share information. I think he was put on timeout and I'm glad the comments were removed. Funny thing is, more and more blogs are saying the same information today that I posted yesterday. Also, the 2.2 improves performance enough to get a little excited. Can't wait, but I have to!

If you live in Cleveland like me you only get summer and winter. Usually Spring and Fall don't exist.
 
Was there anything in writing in my contract when I purchased my DX about when it would get froyo? No. But that doesn't mean I didn't expect it a long time ago. The 'X' was THE 'it' phone of the summer... Verizon's version of the EVO. It was hyped a whole lot more than the Incredible or Droid 2, yet they both have 2.2 and we're still waiting... ok so maybe I'm not technically supposed to be disappointed, but I am.

I was somewhat surprised when the X wasn't shipped with 2.2, but I was confident the update would hit within a few weeks so I didn't sweat it. Two months later and there is still no word on when or even IF it's coming. Now I'm not just another eager beaver who wants his froyo just because, I have my reasons. I'm a photographer, and I bought the DX specifically because it has the largest screen available on the Verizon network, and because I thought it would be getting 2.2 much sooner than now. I can't pull up my website to show customers samples of our work because our website is flash based. That is an invaluable marketing advantage, being able to impress customers at trade shows, or in airports, or down at the mall or where ever else I may run into a prospective customer... with images from our website right there on my big screen cell phone. Soooo much more convenient than lugging my laptop everywhere with me.

But I'm still waiting on that advantage because the DX still doesn't have 2.2... is that Verizon's fault? I guess not, but it baffles me why it's taking so long for the X to get it. It came out before the D2, and by all accounts it's just as good if not better than the D2, so why does the D2 have it and the X doesn't? Had I known that I wouldn't have had the capability to show my website on my phone before October rolled around I just might have terminated my contract with Verizon and hitched my wagon up to Sprints horse with the Evo 4G.

Not because I consider either superior to what I have, but I could have really used that advantage in signing seniors to appointments before school started... by now most have made their choice on which photographer to go with, so the upgrade is almost moot at this point. Would have been really nice to have had it back in August. :(
 
does a factory reset take off root?


I downloaded some program that all I had to do is click.. "Root Me" On my phone..

It gave me superuser.. I pressed unroot me and tried to type in SU in the terminal prgram and it said permission denied.. does that mean i'm good?

Funny how its been a lot cooler this summer than it has been, global cooling in action. Actually we've been in global cooling for 3 years now, now that the ice caps aren't gonna melt I guess the media will start saying were gonna have another ice age like they did 35 years ago during the last global cooling.

I Dont Know man.... its been the hottest summer in maryland history... OoOo Nooozzzzz were all gonna die!! lol... ug :rolleyes:
