Root Froyo Development

Its pretty ridiculous that the only way I get a response on this forum is if something comes out wrong, and people get there panties in a bunch, I have posted on this thread asking for someone to show me something so I can help, but noone would ever reply to me, and had u guys gotten your head out of u know where, u could have seen that I had explained myself, drell said that soon the gingerbread would be out there, and he would put his focuz on that, it has been such a while since someone has posted anything on this thread, and all u guys are worried about is that someone isn't "asking for more" its called asking questions, and this is the first time ANYONE has replied to ANY of my questions, so please, before u start to bash, keep reading and see if maybe the guy apologized first

The dev to this is very busy working on it - but tries his best to get to questions and problems. The key reason this is so hard is because he has had to quite literally custom build our kernel to even run Froyo. YOu said your asking questions to help - Iv yet yo see you help. This rom isnt for casual phone use. Its a test rom, in development for a phone that needs extra love from developers.

In my thread you spammed the crap out of it, and your lucky a MOD didnt get on to you about it - all of your questions are either answered on the same page you have asked, or you didnt make it seem like a question!

The point of this whole thread is: Froyo development
Now, that being said. This is not SUPPOSED to be a finished product in anyway. It wont be for a while. Getting your hopes up that it will be finished next week are in vain. The Developer of this Rom spends his daily life working on this particular Rom when he is either A.) Able to, or B.) Wants to...
Yes, this thread is intended to help HIM ( and others who are associated with aiding him) to at some point create a finished product. Until then, please stop treating this thread as a "why isnt this done yet, fixed yet, what are you doing in your spare time, Dev?" thread. Silly squandering like this gives me indigestion. All in favor of being mature and just trying to support the development of this please like this post. I love the fact that these guys here spend their beloved extra time to go out of their way to benefit us too. He could just as easily develop just for himself and not have to deal with anyone else. Please show some respect in this forum and lighten up. There's no need for begging, ball bashing, or anything other than support to the dev...

Exactly. Lol.

I think that one thing to remember - and it's important - is that without the independent devs supporting everyone they can, the entire Android experience would just be so much ... less! ... for all of us.

They're essentially doing for free or peanuts what you pay dearly extra for from value-added phones - and the overall user experience is typically far superior to stock phones.

Here in this thread we have requests asking the user community for critical feedback. I find that that's not at all too much to ask - especially when the mainline vendors rarely do anything of the sort.

That said - there's no further need of bandwidth use voting over what the thread is for - it's already clear what the thread is for.

This isn't the wild west - this is a specialized thread.

Support your local dev community and use this thread as intended - otherwise, just lurk, that's ok too.

THANK YOU!

OK here is a newer build. Aosp30

More updated gapps here I made. Its unsigned. gapps-hdpi-20101229-unsigned.zip If you want to use newer market 2.2.6 (not included) works if you 1st setup/signin orig market and then power off and flash 2.2.6 via recovery. Market 2.2.7 does not seem to work on aosp roms currently.

Changes:
New kernel
Added smarta$$ governor.
Updated Interactive gov.
Now using BFQ I/O & CFS
GPU FPS up ~ 3fps as tested in neocore
Fixed vold at kernel lvl and removed userspace hack.
Updated .32 kernel low mem killer backport.

Changed webcore engine from v8 back to javascript with jit.
MTD's are now mounted noatime to hopefully speed up I/O.
All binaries are compiler tuned to processor.

I'm sure I forgot a few changes :(

I'm sorry to ask but... what items are still not working in the most current AOSP? I'm thinking of trying it again to help with testing. I just would like to know what to expect. Thanks!

What's the difference with the smartass gov? Nice name btw :p

Was there any change in the signal reporting/roaming issues with the newest build? I really want to try this, but where I am, any lower signal for me is bad.

It is better, I can confirm that, whether it's good enough for your area is another question

Give it a shot, you can always flash back to whatever you were running previously.

With that being said, this is a HUGE step above the last AOSP release, well done drell.

Good point...maybe i'll actually take the plunge tonight and see what happens...guessing its the usual right? wipe data, cache, dalvik cache, sd ext and flash? then flash gapps zip before rebooting?

You sir are correct.

Only if you're using the older gapps though, the new one is unsigned and isn't flashable.

I'm guessing you just put them where they belong in the system files then? haven't done anything like this that wasn't flashing a zip file...i'll probably use the older gapps anyway, but i am very curious, almost to a fault! lol

I flashed them no problem. Just turn off signature verification before flashing.

Edit. Didn't see GRZLA and others beat me to it :p

My keyboard and front button backlights only work for the first fifteen minutes or so after I flash the rom. It has done this for every aosp build, is there a fix for this?
