Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Really? U used to have 20,000 post here?

I don't remember the number off hand, either. Most likely exaggerated. Probably more like 10,000 :p

But some guy I helped put away (for hacking into law enforcement agencies) threatened (and tried) to hack all of my info online; bank accounts, blog memberships, forums, etc.

So I deleted a bunch of accounts all over the place. Was probably an overreaction on my part, but oh well.

What I was most proud of, though, were my "thanked" stats. :(

Han, you had at least 3500 posts in the epic thread and *a lot more* thanks that that - just in that one thread.

And that's just a quick eyeballing, so yeah, you have some big numbers here.

(EM sulks away, muttering about Da Rules, not even wanting to see the big number jokes to come.)

Ouch man that Sucks, t-m sorry to hear that.

I have been on here for 4 years to and i'm nowhere near you guys .

You're just not obsessed enough like some people. ;):)

In the process of clearing out the fridge to make dinner since we're leaving town in a few days. Don't know what to make but I think bacon, eggs, tortillas, misc. salsas will dominate dinner. Oh, and I had some more buttermilk so make some more biscuits for good measure.

I agree.

Posting is kinda like talking back and forth with members.

Yes, especially with all the watering holes we have here.

I Recently found that old one before my time here with 80,000 Post on it. Too bad it was closed! Maybe we can get 100,000 post on this one?

That thread made 88k posts in something like 4 months. This thread is 2+ years old. No thread will, no matter how many posts, will top that thread. And no, I wasn't a part of it. I came on the scene after that.

I watched my first episode of Parks and Recreation last week. In the past week I've watched every episode.

That thread was one word:

Magic.

Right EarlyMon? :) We had a nice partnership going there, didn't we? The last thank you post with the rolling credits? Remember?

Absolutely, I actually reread the last few today for fun while checking on Han's history. :)

And btw - I still remember a number of these -

"Hey everyone, I'm just letting you know that pretty soon I'll be posting!"

Wow, how does a thread become so successful like that?

Anticipation can be quite a motivator. It can bring out the best and worst in members. I can't remember how many times that thread was closed for post cleaning. There's 88k posts that stayed + many more that were deleted. Rob and Phases had to come in on occasion because of how that thread was trending.

Phases was in because he was planning to and then got a GNex - he was genuinely interested, not because he runs the joint.

The thread was huge in large part because Steven was THE source for insider information (from the Love Tunnel) about Verizon plans and the release date. Steven would feed Rob and the Phandroid gang news via Skype, which they often argued with he and I about (I think only two tips out of over 80 turned out false), so I don't really remember Rob being in the thread. If he was, it was shake hands and kiss babies.

Another reason it was huge was because it was LATE to release. It was late worldwide and it was even later in the US.

It was the largest thread anywhere in Android history because people were excited about ICS, a phone with an HD display, and they were hungry for information.

And the thread was huge because it was THE Android event for the year and you never knew when info would hit - but it hit there first. Then Phandroid and then the rest of the blogosphere. Others besides Steven added in a lot of solid info as well. And while waiting for information, everyone just shot the breeze, which was more fun than just refreshing the browser page.

In that climate, Han became the much-loved spokesman for a demanding public.

Steven privately mentioned some of the flame wars he was having to deal with, so I came in as the enforcer and said so right off. I was popular around the forums before (truth) but that roll made me *really* popular (sarcasm). Within a day or two, OfTheDamned joined the party and then it was a matter of work for all mods (whom we're all still very grateful to for the hard work).

The thread was huge because it was interesting, not interesting because it was huge.
