Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

I am 37, married (hubby is a pastor), I am a preschool director. We have three kids (11, 10, & 7) and a dog. And I am STILL waiting on Fed Ex to bring my GNex!! But we are having a blizzard. We ahve about 4-5 inches of snow blowing all over, and more falling all the time. Even though phone was put on the "truck for delivery" this morning, I don't think it's going to make it today. :( I am so sad!! We are on Christmas vacation, and I want to play with my Christmas present!!!! :)

I am 37...THIRTY-SEVEN??? When did that happen? That sounds OLD!!!

apparently google wallet not working wasnt due to 4.0.3 but due to me actually wiping the device :(

oh and for age im 22(keep saying 21, i forget my birthday was last week) and I work as a verizon wireless sales rep, and "resident geek" as my employees and customers call me. I also do PC repairs on the side for dirt cheap (only basic stuff, hardware installs software, virus fixes, etc... since it's my weekend hobby).

and +1 to trying to put an age to people from their posts. maybe we should start a forum game, guess the age of the person above you.

51, married 28 years, 3 children, engineer at a local manufacturing plant. I work with the computer systems and processors that operate the plant. Fun job.

Happy Birthday a little late!

Dropbox and Minus are the ones to use in my opinion. I personally use both -- one for my personal stuff and one for sharing files to friends and family. Trying to condense down to one service though.
If your friends/family also have Dropbox, you could just make a shared folder that they can all access.

Moving files between phone and PC. Music is on my phone so don't need to stream. Say I want to take a screenshot and post it here. I have a photobucket account is that the same as dropbox?
Just saw this - if you want to take a screenshot and post it, I find that Imgur is the fastest and easiest way. Take the screenshot, then open the Imgur site on your mobile browser - it'll let you upload the screenshot right from your phone's gallery. It then gives you a very short URL that's easy to post.

P.S. - Who needs an RSS feeder when we have RazorSharp! Thanks for all the news updates Razor.
+1 for Razor. I shall now call the daily list our RSRSS.
Aww, I'm blushin. :o:D I was vaguely considering a name, something like "Razor's Daily Link Digest," but I figured that once the GNex coverage on all the blogs starts to die down, I'll have less things to post. I like RSRSS though. :D

Here's a chuckle for anyone who needs it - I get to my car and grab the charger. I'm trying to get it plugged into the phone and can't figure out why I'm having so much trouble......yeah, was trying to plug it in to the area where the dinc's charger went. :o :)
Maybe one day I'll remember Nyxie charges at the bottom, not the side.

hey guys and gals! stupid question but...i've unlocked, rooted, and "perma-installed" cwm and i've just made a backup. i thought for some reason it would backup to my computer but i see that it just made a backup to my sdcard. is there a way on the galaxy nexus to backup the backup onto a pc? i googled it and people said that (with other phones) you just copy the files but doesn't the galaxy nexus only operate on MTP? do people usually backup on the pc as well or only on the sdcard?

thanks!

CWM stores all your backup files you have ran on the sdcard partition under clockworkmod then backup. So /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/ and in that backup folder you should see the backups you have done to date. So with it plugged in on MTP you should be able to goto the Galaxy Nexus drive created and navigate into clockworkmod and then backup and just copy the dated or named backup folder you want to archive on to your computer.

How do I know if this worked?

reboot into fastboot by turning the phone off, then hold down both volume keys and hold power down and it will boot into fastboot, then use the volume rocker to move the top box to say recovery, press power. if it goes to clockworkmod, you were successful. once there, just click on reboot device and youre good to go

OK, guess it is my turn but you will be so disappointed as you are all so brilliant. I am 53 (54 next month) and single. No kids unless you count my dog who is pretty much all the family I have. Her name is not kokiangel just in case you were wondering!
I am a banker, more specifically, I reconcile internet banking checks (we call them bill payment checks) and serve as a customer service rep for the official checks department. I have been with the official checks department in one capacity or another for 27 years now.

So I've been trying to "calibrate" my battery and let it die. I had to make a quick call and booted the phone then plugged in the charger. Boot was done and in a minute I had 28% charge.

Wtf. Something with the battery or the way the phone is displaying the amount left. It obviously turns off at 0% but there must be more juice than the phone is reporting.

Still having this problem transitioning from my Tmobile G2.

Okay. Cool. Many thanks to You, HanSolo and Woodstorm! :)

And my apologies to everyone else who had to read through all my questions :o

Completely unrelated:

Just now watching the season finale of Dexter....(almost over. oh wow!)

I just received and email from Verizon telling me it is my last chance to order an Galaxy Nexus before the holidays. They still haven't sent out the email saying it is now available.

OK, here's my info. 28m, wife and two kids. Wife's an MD. I've got a PhD in biomedical engineering. I have a startup company that does heart simulation ( CardioSolv | Personalized Cardiac Simulation ) based on my work in grad school. I also have another company under which I do high performance computing and Linux consulting as well as make blue canary night lights ( Anfani LLC , Blue Canary Night Light ). I sell a few Android apps I wrote now and then. They're nothing special, and getting long in the tooth. For more info, Brock M. Tice, PhD . I knew I maintained all those domains for something!

EDIT: And yes, that's my phone number, and you can call me if you really want to. If Google Voice is working properly you won't ring me on the wrong phone / at the wrong time. :)

Well I guess I'll jump in :-)

22yo Married Male. Seeking ..... o wait wrong forum lol j/k

But yeah I'm married and 22. I own a my home in lakeland Florida and work as a Quality Control Rep at GEICO Insurance. I've got a baby on the way (yay 7/14/12) I'm a devoted technophobe and I love all things android.

:-)

Soooo I'm rethinking the encryption thing. I am really torn between having my phone encrypted, and being able to quickly use the camera, use face unlock, and most importantly, properly use nandroid backups and clockwork mod. Any thoughts?

Han,

Curious. What do you think of 4.0.3? I was thinking of holding off because it seems as if I'm running through a rom per day on this thing. If it's significant I'll do it now.

Lemme know.
Steven

i keep trying to find the unlock button on the top of the phone, as that is where it was on my OG droid and thunderbolt. at least the volume rocker is on the opposite side of the lock button on the GNex though. my rent-a-razr had them both on the same side and i was constantly locking the screen while trying to adjust volume.

Just saw the ending of Dexter.

Spoiler

HOLY SHIT BALLS!!

I always new she would be the one to find out.

I have a polaroid pogo printer. It's a bluetooth printer. You pair it like you would your headset. The paper is tiny though (2"x3") and is actually a sticker. It's more just for fun than anything else.

I use printer share (from the market), it lets you connect to your WiFi printer or any printer connected to your computer and with google cloud printer.

iirc you can still copy from the phone to the computer like always, but its more tricky going from computer to phone. dont hold me to it, im learning like you haha but i think thats what i read
