"Gay Androids" at Pride Parade Chicago

But that's the way it has to be right now! There are to many ppl that don't accept gay ppl right now. We've already heard story's of what others have experienced. Now take those story's and give all the ppl in them guns that they can reach at any moment and its a recipe for disaster.

African Americans' inclusion with whites in the military was a breeze.

It's a little different and besides, I'm sure it was not as easy as u are describing. We don't want to get into a racial debate so I hope that this is where it ends.

I was being sarcastic. lol It was very, very difficult and so many people were against it... but it was still done regardless. Women's right to vote was done even when the majority of the US was against it.. yet, it was done. [Insert other examples here]

Ok, but no one is telling gay people they can't be in the military. They are just saying, don't ask, don't tell..

Hehe, but before you start Apple-baiting, remember Apple have a pretty strong record on supporting gay rights. They even donated a big wad of cash to oppose the anti-marriage campaign in California.

According to Stephen Fry, there is an App on the iPhone for geo-locating other gays in your vicinity (though how this works is beyond me!).

I don't understand how people could possibly find Robin Williams funny, but I've learnt to accept they do :D.

I think the point is that gay people don't actually have choice about who they fancy any more than you or I. It's nice to know that they do choose Android though.

Dude, Robin Williams is hilarious. Especially is stand up.

And Don't ask don't tell is simply genius. Why should sexual orientation even be involved in the military? It shouldn't. Period. Leave it at home. Just like at the work place.

I'm afraid that if someone did out themselves I'm the military their treatment would be just about as bad as what gomer pile got it that movie.. its not fact, only my opinion.

Oh yes, Full Metal Jacket is my all-time favorite movie.

While that does make sense, if no one asks, and no one tells, but it is still found out, you shouldn't get a dishonorable discharge from the military. That disgusts me.

Don't ask, don't tell should be implemented to straight people also. If they reveal their preference, they should be discharged. Why should it only affect homosexuals? I'm sure those straight men in the military don't talk about women on an everyday basis and that the higher ranks are telling them to leave it at home. Talk about double standard!

Exactly. You can even be discharged on the basis of suspicion.

I think the whole world should be "Don't Ask, Don't Tell but if anyone finds out Oh Well." Shut up about it, whether you're gay or straight. Let's lock up those who are into children or animals because they can't consent.

I support the shut up about it because unless it is entertainment, you know that kind of entertainment... I don't want to know. I am certain that no one wants to know what my decrepit body is doing and I ask that others do the same for me (well, unless, you know that whole entertainment part...)

I probably would have gone to the parade because:

I like parades.
I like rainbows (what? they're pretty)

The pictures are cool because they're of parades and rainbows with android thrown in for extra awesome.

Edit: *kick in the junk to someone for getting the Gay Rights thread locked, I was going to put this there to keep this more on topic*

Google's HR policies are stupid. Should childless couples get paid more because people with children and homes get tax breaks? Really.

If a company wants to do something for people who are gay:

Don't make it any harder for them to work for you. That means if coworkers are harrassing their gay peers, don't overlook it. Apply your policies evenly. Harrassment is just wrong for whatever reason.

If a gay employee needs to take care of a sick family member, support them unless you throw cohabitating couples under the bus, too. Then you aren't really doing anything for your employees but atleast you're failing everyone equally.

Just do right by people and don't disrespect them. It really isn't that hard but many people just don't get it.

I agree, and meant it like that.

Exactly!!! I will most definitely not tell anyone that I am bisexual if they don't ask. But, by some fluke, should the Air Force find out, I shouldn't get kicked out, because I did my best to abide by the rule and tried to hide it.

I didn't know it was that serious. I don't think u should be discharged for it..

Oh yes, it is that serious. Bisexual or gay, if found out, you will get either an 'other than honorable discharge', or a 'dishonorable discharge'.

Well, I have to honestly say I can see both sides of the argument, and both sides have valid concerns. It's these kind of situations that are the hardest to fix, and need the most time....

Since 1993, when the bill went onto place, over 13,000 PATRIOTS who volunteered their lives to serve their country honorably were kicked out due to their sexuality.

"73 percent: The portion of service members who served in Afghanistan and Iraq that are comfortable in the presence of gay men and lesbians, according to a survey of 545. Only 5 percent of the approximately 20 percent who said that they were uncomfortable are “very uncomfortable,” while 15 percent are “somewhat uncomfortable.”"

Why should homosexuals be prohibited from serving their country in the most selfless way possible i.e. putting their lives on the line for others, though? To me this is institutional discrimination at its very worst, tantamount to dismissing them as not good enough. If we're discussing rights, surely its a fundamental right of every citizen to be allowed to defend the country they love?

Fear. It is irrational, it is illogical, but it is still there none-the-less, and it's not something that's ever going to go away. It's human nature.

I find homophobia to be no different than racism. The government made sch a push to allow blacks to serve equally in the military, but they're not even going to let gays serve?

After making it through boot camp, and all my tech schools, if I get kicked out because of my hidden bisexuality, it will be very hard to maintain the current patriotism that I have now.

No, this is wrong. Completely wrong.

People are hardwired to revolt in disgust when they see homosexual action, that's just the way it is. This is not the case with Racism, as this is taught behaviors. But we are now being taught "tolerance" etc.

The real reason Men come against Gays and not Lesbians is... We don't mind looking at women. Be it 2,3, or 4 women, we don't care. Because it's all women. However looking at Gay men, well, turns men's stomachs. It is very true, and physical reactions aren't something you can argue with. I know from personal experience seeing two men even kiss turns my stomach. But I'm not going to hate them for it, no.., I just put my attention else ware. This is called tolerance, not acceptance. Homosexuality, due to it's anti-natural nature, may never be truly accepted, only tolerated to a point it may be unnoticeable. We are hardwired to attract to the opposite sex, and just because homosexual hardwiring is misfiring, defective, wrong, or just different, doesn't mean it's the right way, and in fact nature would disagree with you, as the meaning of life is procreation of the species, and homosexuality does not provide for this. If we were meant to be homosexual, then we would be hermaphrodites, as a few species on the planet are.

Homophobia is a legit condition, Racism is not.

I was trying to avoid this as much as possible, but it was time for my to be blatantly truthful.

Homosexuality is not normal, is not natural, and something is definitely wrong with that person, be it emotional, biological, abuse, something we don't know about yet, or a combination of all of the above. That's just the way evolution built us.

I guess you're right about homophobia. But back in earlier times, didn't people get treated just as badly for being black as they did for being gay?

And about the hermaphrodites - that is an incredibly good point and I can't really argue it.

But the bottom line is most gay people are born gay, so why not let them serve their country if they wanted to?

I agree with you on serving the country 100%. But I'm just saying, I'm obviously the minority here, and I see both sides of the argument. Anyone who wants to serve this fine country, (barring the mentally ill of course) so be it, and I root them on.

I do see what you're saying about homophobia. Maybe I was a bit too quick to throw that and racism into the same pot. I guess I never thought of being a homophobe as something that the person couldn't help, mainly because I don't have it. But I can definitely understand the road you're coming from.
