Root Gb miui

yeah it is definitely not for everyone. i'm am a sense guy, but with all the new gingerbread aosp roms coming out, i'm starting to swing in that direction. will definitely give this a try at some point.

I like Sense, too. I really want to make this work, but the lack of voicemail kinda kills it for me. I even installed Sprint's visual voicemail app and it's basically useless. :(

I use launcher pro on every rom....so the ui doesn't bother me ......its the performance that has me hooked

Ovrrdrve I had to stay on the sense rom for a while 20 mins or so for it to regather sat links. You may also try fast fix in the market along with GPS status

hey guys, dev for miui-evo here :)
i'm sure it was an honest mistake, but please direct the link to [MIUI Evo] Gingerbread is here :) 1.3.18 official download [English and Chinese]
instead of the xda thread, as it's our actual forums. xda also redirects there as well >_<

thanks for the support, i'll stop by here as often as possible :D
feel free to follow my twitter @stiffspliff for the quickest updates hehe

Welcome to androidforums stiffspliff. I have to admit, miui is a great rom. Thanks for all fo the hard work on it. I'm really digging it.

That did it. I waited until I had 10 satts locked in and went back to miui and it's working. Thanks.

Man now I'm back on my old rom and I'm kinda missing MIUI. What are you guys using for maps and navigation? I need those, and I'd like to have visual voicemail as well.

Having it for 4 years and now having to go back to old school voicemail is laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame.

Google maps and Google navigation... They're the best out there in my opinion and they work great on miui. I haven't tried vvm yet to see if it works.

Thanks man, you're helping me solve all my problems, haha. One *hopefully* last question, I've wiped cache, dalvik, data, and even done a factory reset at least 5 times, yet the 3G and signal bars are still themed from my old rom. I've even reflashed MIUI.

Any ideas on how to get rid of that? It's annoying to have those two things green while everything else is white.

if you are talking about the gingerbread icons, they are stock since miui is now in gingerbread ^^;;

i'm not sure what the orignial devs' plans are, but i'm sure they have a nice surprise for us in the near future

ha! I guess I am. I saw pictures in another MIUI thread and the 3G/signal bars were white and looked different. But after looking at the official MIUI thread over at XDA, I have the same icons. My bad. :o

Is there a way to just hide apps instead of uninstalling them? Like Latitude and Places. And other stuff I don't use.

Thanks, man. And for anyone else having voicemail issues, I'm still setting it up, but google voice looks like it will be a nice fix to get visual voicemail back.

No one calls me so I never get voicemail. :)

You can also hide apps by going into the apps folder with root explorer and changing their extension to something other than .apk.

My solution to this was to dump every icon I never use into a folder I created called "Apps." Then I put that folder on my dock. It basically simulates the app drawer of typical ROMs. I also sort the folder by most used, so whatever icons I use the most in there migrate to the top.

As for your VM, a while ago when switching between Sense and AOSP ROMs, I got sick of losing my voicemail. So I started using Google Voice's voicemail. I figured since I already use gmail and a bunch of other Google cloud apps, I'd keep VM there. Now I have all my messages for each ROM. Never had issues with Google Voice not working for a given ROM, etc. and it's free on the Market.

^^ this, i'm very happy w/CM7, might try MUI again, i don't want to do the GPS fix again, if I did it for CM7 you guys think i'll have to do it again?

I love MIUI but have been using WarmZ recently due to issues with battery life and gps. Going to wait for this Fri's build before I try MIUI GB, this is the 1st build and it'll take a few revs to get everything ironed out.

Hmm, having a problem with handcent. It ends up keeping my screen on, even after double checking all the settings and rebooting the phone. As soon as I uninstalled handcent, the screen turns off normally.

Is it possible to get the default sms app to turn on the screen with a popup like handcent does? It's kind of annoying to hear my sms ringtone and just see a black screen.
