Hey Guys, Just signed up to the forums to ask you guys this question. Wirefly has the Evo for $169 with a 2 year service agreement. Does this apply to ANY Sprint line? For instance, I have only had my Palm Pre for 1 year and only get a $75 discount on the Evo through Sprint. Could I just renew through WireFly and get the Evo for $169 today?

Nope you have to be eligible for a full upgrade to get the wirefly pricing...Are you sure you are eligible for $75? Are you a premier customer?

I am on a family plan with 3 other people. Total of four lines. They only give the Premier benefits to one of the lines. Thanks for the information.

How attached are you to your phone number? You can add a line to the acct and cancel your other line and pay a prorated eft

Well I went to Radio Shack yesterday with that $25 off coupon and they did have the Evo for $150 upgrade. What I did not know was that Radio Shack charged me $175 total. I thought....WTF? Then they said they charged me about 50 bucks for taxes. Basically, they taxed me for $500 and not $150, then they added the $25 discount. I thought I was walking into a deal then felt ripped off. I decided to take it just to play with the phone but my guts tell me Sprint or some other vendor is going to lower the upgrade to 99 bucks eventually. Why? Because CES 2011 is just around the corner and new devices will come out. I figure if I catch a cheaper price I will just return before the 30 days and buy it again. Oh well. Also, this gives me time to see what phones hp/palm comes out with on WebOs!

Looking to purchase an EVO this weekend but I wondering if the price will drop when the "shift" comes out in early January.

sprint does not drop their prices often. EVO is still very popular.
My guess this price will be strong for another 6 months.

Their marketing plan is better contract price.. so that dont have lots of room for phone specials.

Verizon is much more expensive for their plans and can afford to do the 2-for-1 deals. They just get their money back over time and then some.

Now.. if you can purchase online... you can find deals at amazon and wirefly... etc...

A co-worker of mine said that he went to Radio Shack (in New York) today and bought his Evo for $156.00 with a 2 year contract. So you can probably shop around and get a deal.

I finally picked up an EVO tonight at BestBuy (for a Radio Shack pricematch sale valid thru 12/18 of $149.99 see here ). They still called the RS to confirm sale price.

I went with BB over RS because they have no restocking fee vs RS 15% in case some Tegra2 handsets arrive soon or CES unveils other goodness.:D

I thought I was going to be in & out but when I played with the Nexus S it was way better than I expected. The EVO felt like a brick compared to NS but they both still feel good in my hands. I went with the EVO mainly because I would likely utilize it more for impromptu presentations where the 4.3" vs 4", significantly louder speaker & kickstand would come in handy:cool: (plus sharper FF cam for group videocapture).

If some Tegra2 1080p camcorder handsets arrive soon though I may have to return EVO. When I only had the EVO in my hand I started to fall back in want with it but those deep blacks, saturated colors, curved display, feel & 2.3GB of NS were more than I imagined. EVO still won out tonight for aforementioned reasons but it was not an easy call..

Just wanted to report back that RS & any BB $149.99 pricematch is only listed as thru 12/18 & maybe it will save someone here $50. I could have bought it for $50 less online at Amazon etc but did not want to be subject to an additional $250-300 ETF. I'm going to try to resist turning it on tonight because I would get zero sleep..;)

Battery is fully charged now so will not leave it plugged in all night to see how much charge it keeps. Hope I made the right decision but I have 30, now 29 days to evaluate. Must resist..that power button now..

I was at Radio Shack today and the salesman told me that starting tomorrow the EVO was going on sale for $99.99 for upgrades and new customers.

Good deal but I think it comes out about the same as the Wirefly deal was at $119.00 total shipped.

The Radio Shack deal is charging 10.00 shipping and maybe taxes.

The only way you are going to avoid a contract and ETF is if you buy it from a private party or Ebay.

If you are new to Sprint, there is no way to avoid a contract with ETF even if you own the hardware without a Sprint subsidy, unlike Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile. I hope Sprint changes this uncompetitive policy asap but that's what Sprint representatives told me. Personally that delayed my EVO purchase & made me less enthusiastic about doing business with Sprint.

My point regarding additional ETFs is in addition to the $200 Sprint ETF, sub $100 online deals carry another $250-$300 ETF if you cancel service within 181 days (totaling $450-500). Instead of listing this beneath the price it's linked under Terms of Purchase so it's not as conspicuous.

Since I want the freedom to go to another carrier's device without additional ETFs I chose to pay an extra $50 to get it at BestBuy (who price matched a Radio Shack deal) but was even prepared to pay the standard BestBuy price to avoid the additional ETF. BestBuy also not charge restocking fees (vs Radio Shack 15%) if I return it during the initial 30 day satisfaction period (I don't work for BB & would go to any authorized dealer that would offer me the best deal).

Wrong, here are the final charges (plus the Bluetooth Headset is free)

The 99 dollar sale even beats the wirefly friends and family site which is 139.99 for an upgrade...excellent price for an upgrade

The key to this is the fact the Renew/Upgrade price is $99.99. Wirefly Renew/Upgrade price is $169 (and no free bluetooth headset).

C'mon

You are missing my point. When I bought the phone through WIrefly at the beginning of of Dec it was $119 shipped, I was just comparing the deal. Now my wife wants one so the Radio Shack deal may work.

I don't see the $139.99 price you are speaking of on the WireFly site anywhere.

The $169.99 price in my post is from the WireFly Friends and Family site.

Maybe it is regional...my wirefly friends and family is 139.99 for upgrades..

Ugh. Seriously? Pictures so big we ave to scroll side to side?

Anyway, $99 is a great deal. But for only a $10 difference, I will keep the phone I got two weeks ago.
