Just an update so everyone can learn from my experience.
As I posted earlier, after a new device Google Wallet wouldn't except my Citicard. As several of you mentioned (and were correct) I had not "deactivated" the Wallet on the old phone. I actually didn't even know you needed to do that. I just hard reset the phone and sent it on it's way. Anyway, a call to Google Wallet was quite pleasant (and interesting).
The sales rep took COMPLETE ownership of my issue (even though he couldn't resolve it). He was extremely friendly and asked me "where did you get the Google Wallet from". I immediately thought, oh here we go...and I honestly told him I found it on the forums. He said "Oh OK, we have an official APK to support the Samsung Galaxy Nexus...I just wanted to make sure you were using the right APK". Huh, go figure. They do support our phone.Anyway, nothing he could do but give the Citi number.
I called Citi and got an immediate sales rep, no hold time. She told me that each Citi card can only be associated with one wallet. (Which on a side note sucks if my wife would have a Nexus...both our card numbers are the same...so one of us couldn't use wallet). Anyway, she went into her system...cleared the old phone's info and it immediately worked when I tried to associate the new phone with my card. Problem solved.
So lesson learned. And for everyone else...deactivate wallet before switching phones or you'll have to call Citi (which isn't that painful...since both companies offered a great customer service experience.)
Thanks for the tip. I linked my GW to my Citi MC and it works fine. My wife also has a GN but I did not add GW to her phone yet. Good thing I did not link the same card to her phone. Interesting dilemma. That kind of sucks if only one phone can have a card associated with it.
Anyway, nothing he could do but give the Citi number.
I guess I have no room to talk, I was beaming after the cleaning lady at work asked if I had a magic phone.
