Root [GUIDE] Brick Recovery

I am stumped and I need your help in making my phone usable again. So, I decided the root my LG Volt, it was zv5. I ran option three and installed the LG drivers, rooted perfectly. I installed Flashify and had SU already installed. In the SU settings, I checked a box that says it will grant permissions even if the phone is in recovery or SOMETHING of the sort.

Anyway, I downloaded the twrp rocovery.img and i made the mistake of using Flashify to boot it instead of recovery. I quickly pushed the back button and didnt think much of it. I then ran the recovery option and then it asked me to reboot the phone. Well I did and now the phone is stuck in TWRP recovery. I tried to reboot to system, back to twrp, reboot to recovery...obviously twrp. I turn off the phone and it turns on by itself and loads into TWRP.

I tried enabling MTP on the mount option but the drivers never successfully install and my computer does not find my phone. I wanted to download any ROM just to be able to load something but I am unable to do so because my phone wont mount with my computer.

Any ideas? (BTW, i didnt wipe anything or backup yet.)

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you've installed TWRP as recovery and boot. You'll need to get the zv5 ROM (or any ROM) on your SD card and install it from recovery.

If you don't have an SD card, or can't get anything on it, you'll have to go through the first part of the guide and get zv3 installed, let it update back to zv5, and reroot.

There's no reason to set any extra options in SuperSU. That didn't have anything to do with this, just saying.

How do I get my factory settings back? I can't get virgin mobiles boot animation (Not that I like it or anything) or even some of the apps that were installed when i got the phone. The APN fixes the LG carrier showing up but I can't find some apps that I used to have and the Virgin boot logo no longer exists after flashing the stock ROM like it used to. Is there a way to fix this?

You can restore the boot animation by going to /system/media/ and renaming the appropriate file to boot animation.zip.

As for the apps, which ones are you concerned about? There is no way to restore the stock bloat as that is installed upon activation of the carriers ROM, which you no longer have.

Why didn't you use one of the direct root methods? Did they not work?

Does anybody know any way to update zv4 to zv5 on PagePlus? PagePlus doesn't support version updates, and they don't accept flashed phones anymore either.

I managed to do this by:

1. Restoring to zv3
2. Booted up to install TWRP
3. Used in-phone factory reset
4. Factory reset via TWRP
5. Installed carrier fix
6. Boot and install updates (will overwrite TWRP)

After that, I got my Boost config back. I am not saying that this will work however, simply that it worked for me.

Its beacuse the app itself is rooted so your phone wont get any thing twords its system so when somthing needs root permisions the app will act as if your your the one with root but its the app and you can only uninstall king root and the wierd word one as long as you dont uninstall king user you should be fine because there is a feature in king user that allows you to allow the app that requires root permisions so the king root app in my opinion is perfectly safe but im not just saying that to be fake because i did it myself and im texting this from it right now but there is a glitch that i do know and i do know how to solve it

If what i just said is dangerous plaese tell me bg4m3r
It's certainly suspicious, especially being from China. You're putting the entire security of your phone in the hands of an app that you can't even read the text of. This is a very strange way to go about rooting, and there's no reason to do it that way. You don't know if it's logging your passwords, allowing other malicious software onto the phone, or what.

ill keep an eye on the app and tell you if anything suspicious happens
Seriously, how would you know? It literally has permission to anything it wants without asking. It could easily embed a virus in another app that you installed and you'd never know. Heck the ' weird word one' could be a virus.
Bottom line, we have other safer options, so why risk it?

You might be right the wierd one is supposed to be a storage cleaner
Riiight... Why would a rooting app need that?
Also, I've been looking around trying to find info on it and KingoRoot and Vroot (similar Chinese rooting apps) have both been banned from XDA for sending phone data, particularly your IMEI, to China.

I wouldn't be able to do anything with it. I'm not a developer. Just uninstall it and reroot with one of the methods in the guide.

Hello everyone. I have a VM volt. At one time I was rooted when I was on V3. my phone updated, I lost root, and then it updated again. so yeah, I have V5. I'm finally getting around to flashing down to V3 so I can root again. Only it's not going so good for me. Any help will be appreciated greatly!

I have installed the drivers, the only drivers I can find are 3.14. I can get the phone into FW update mode, set the port to
41, configure window is filled in properly in Board dl. I do have the files in the folder with the flash tool.

when I click the large yellow arrow I get "failed previous load".

Please tell me what I am doing wrong... pretty please!

thanks!

First off, this is not necessary. You can directly root zv5. Check the top of the first post.

I'm not in rooting but would it be possible to find the v3 update and install it in boot loader? Then root with towel root
