Root [GUIDE] Brick Recovery

Trying to use the One Click Root on my ZV5 Volt..
All is well until it starts "Looking for LG serial port" ... "unable to locate"
Asks me to manually enter DL mode with Vol+ and plugging in the USB cable.. Not a problem. Get to DL mode.

At this point it just continues to "Waiting for device.."
The firmware update status bar on the phone remains at 0%

I have a little experience with adjusting the port settings on the computer from attempting to root the Elite.

Any and all guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Go to Device Manager on your computer, and go to ports. in fact, just watch this,
except where he just says click okay, click advanced, and change the port to COM 41

I did, i deleted the original file, now supersu is not attached to the system anymore, and I cant add supersu from TWRP. Do I need to do that from the flash tool on my computer?

When it did this to me and I put it in dl mode and it says "waiting for device" just close the script and restart the script again and it should recognize it...well it did for Me anyways.

try the latest version of the supersu for rooting the android device for quickly.
No, just no. This is wrong. SuperSU does not root a device by itself. If that was all that was needed, we wouldn't have a need for these rooting methods. Also, there's no reason to post a link to a questionable site to download it. It can be downloaded from the developers site: http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu

Try clearing data for the apps you are having issues with and the play services. If that doesn't work, you probably need to do a factory reset.

It's not stick, it's waiting. You have to unplug and replug the phone to start the flash.

Thank you! i was stuck wondering what I was doing wrong haha..I hope downgrading can help me troubleshoot my connectivity problems. right now my volt keeps dropping signal every minute and will not connect to LTE, even though LTE is good in my area.

edit: nevermind, still no luck on getting an LTE signal. I have no clue what's wrong. Guess I'm going to the boost store tomorrow :/

Haven't read the entire conversation but have you went to system updates and updated your prl and profile?

Yes, I have tried it manually from system settings, dialer codes, and I even called boost and they forced activation over the air, all with no luck.

Try installing Candy 12.1 with the APN fix (before first boot). That fixed it for me.

Are you talking about the Candy 5 ROM or the CM12.1? I tried Candy 5, flashed Candy 5, gapps, and then the APN fix all before first boot, no luck. Even when I tried editing the APN settings in Candy, it said "settings are not available for this user" Haven't tried CM 12.1 yet, but im not keeping my fingers crossed.

I think I might have a bonk Volt. Even when I first booted on stock z4 (that it came with), it has never gotten an LTE signal. All Boost told me was to wait 24-72 hours to see if it was a problem with the towers (of course it isn't though, my friends LTE on boost has been working fine).

It really seems like there is a problem with the 4G antenna, or the phone was just not wired or programmed incorrectly.

I bought this at Kmart, and they told me I could return it as long as it was deactivated. So, I have to buy another phone, activate that, then return this Volt to Kmart. Thinking of switching to the LG Tribute since it has very similar specs but I really like the Volt and the gorilla glass screen :c

I couldn't live without 4g so I called sprint and with the right wording I was able to get them to send me a new volt don't know if I should do the right thing and return them my old volt without 4g or keep it and use it to experiment with

Use this version of candy5 https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934546729 along with apn fix. Do full wipe of system, data, cache, and dalvik. Flash both candy5 & apn fix. Reboot and let it start normally, wait for lte to connect, then boot into recovery. Restore your backup.

Did everything as you said but my volt is still only connecting to 3G, and service is cutting out every time it tries to connect to 4G. it's also saying "No SIM card-Boost Mobile" but there's definitely a SIM card in there.

Did you try both APNs? For some reason I had to select the second one even though they both appear to be the same.

APN settings aren't available in candy 1.5, at least i can't find them. And when on the candy 2.0 rom, it says "APN settings are unavailable for this user" as I have already stated.

Would appreciate some advice on what I may be doing wrong...if the pic of my pc sceen shows here ok this is as far as I can seem to get. Cant figure out where the problem is.

Did you go into DL mode? I also had to go to DL mode (on Port41), but I'm stuck at 90%.
Anyone have any clues to what I'm doing wrong? This is like the 4th time I've downgraded and tried to root zv5

EDIT: So I read some post and root isn't available on zv5 deodexed?

not sure if we are doing same thing. I am not currently rooted. On stock zv5.
Havnt been able to figure out how to change ports if thats needed. Is dl mode when u use power button and down volume key? If so have done that but once ur in there do u just reboot normally?
