Root [GUIDE] Brick Recovery

I finally was able to use a computer that had Windows XP Pro on it and I tried using ADB and I also tried using the LG Flash tool to try to flash my phone but neither would work. All I can say is when I use root checker pro is that it says sure binary is installed and so is busybox but my superSU program is not configured correctly. I'm grateful that my phone works but I am frustrated that it isn't rooted anymore.

Can't say for sure as I did not use this method myself. Double check that your ports, paths, and syntax are all correct. This would be better asked in that thread, or even better on the post on XDA.
If you mean this guide (worked on both my Tribute and my Volt): http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3049772
Double click the ports.bat file you extracted from the LG Root Tools download, and look for the com port with "DIAG" in the device name, that is the port you will use.

Note: if you opened the notification when Windows was installing the drivers, you would have seen which port it was installed to when it finished.

I was flashing a miui rom onto my LG volt and didn't notice it was for a different phone and not my volt just stays at a black screen no recovery mode and no download mode and when I plug it in without the battery it shows the missing battery sing on the scream and when I plug it into the computer it loads up but only a image file and a different one show up I need help really missing my volt

Hello, friends. Does anyone have the live wallpaper picker? I deleted a few months ago but would now like to use an app called minima pro. I'm running stock deodexed ROM Z5 thanks!

hEllo I need the link to the radio and is this process UNLOCK THE PHONE? NEED TO UNLOCK THE PHONE
All the files needed are linked in the guide, which is largely unnecessary at this point since all versions have a direct rooting method. The guide is just there in case those methods don't work for someone for some reason.
Want to make use of another carrier? How do i unlock the LG VOLT LS740 VIRGIN MOBIL IMEI 99
In order to take your phone to another carrier, it must be activated on its original carrier for at least one year. There is no unlocking, and we don't discuss that here.

Why are you downgrading? Just use the new method. Like I said, the guide is just a backup method at this point.

I did not know someone came up with a stock root method for zv5. The guide was very easy to follow and I was able to root my volt.

Ok, so I have two Volts, one is running v3, rooted with towelroot and I'm leaving it that way. The screen broke on the first so I bought another one that came stock with v4. I'm trying the process to downgrade the second one to v3 but when I try to go to download mode using volume + and plugging in the USB it never gets to the download screen, it stays on the "keep holding the button down until the download screen loads" message.. am I missing something that makes it change to the download screen?

On another note, I'm having the same problem with the new method, everything goes ok until I have to manually go into download mode and it won't get to that screen it just stays in the one that duds to hold down the volume button.

Just to reiterate, you don't need to use the downgrade method, just the method listed at the top with each zv version. I don't know why you're not able to boot into DL mode, unless you're not actually holding the Vol+ or something is wrong with the phone. It should boot into DL mode within about 15 sec. I would take to back to wherever you got it and tell them it won't boot into download mode and get a replacement.

I understand, the problem with the script method is that it has me manually boot into DL mode and when I do that it says "loading...." and to hold down the volume button but it never gets to the firmware update screen, I was just wondering if anyone else had heard of that and if there's something that could be done. Otherwise, I think I'll just have to deal with it, I got the phone on Amazon quite a few months ago, switched carriers and then switched back so I doubt I can send it back for replacement although I might email the seller and see what they say.. I thought maybe it might have been something to do with a driver or something that won't let it get to the firmware update screen.

No, nothing on the computer has to do with whether or not you can not into download mode, just what you can simplify once you get there. You might try doing a factory reset in the stock recovery. I don't know if it will help, but I have no idea why it's not going for you. Do you have the phone in a case? It could be preventing you from holding the button correctly.

Yeah, I've tried it with and without a case, factory reset a few times.. I guess I'll probably just try it again every once in awhile unless another method arises which is unlikely since this one works so well, or a comparable/better phone gets built lol. It's still a pretty good device without root.

Am downgrading it because am not able to root the V5, "Waiting for connection" that is what the software says every time
What's going wrong with the zv5 method?

I would double check your port configuration and such. Are you using the cable that came with the phone? Not all micro USB cables are created equal.
