Root [GUIDE] Brick Recovery

Whenever I try to start the LG Flash Tool it pops up an error saying, "LG USB/Parallel Lock Key is not detected!!!" and then asks for a country, id, and password. What exactly am I doing wrong, here?

Edit: Nvm, I was typing this as another person solved it for me.
what did u do to solve this? im having the same issue.

You need to download the MegaLock.dll and move it to the LG File Directory...If you have megalock.dll then you should place it in C:/LG, I believe. You'll find a file with the exact same name. Just replace it with the one you downloaded and then it should be good to go

Sorry for the redundancy but I'm a coward..

So my Boost mobile LG Volt is ZV6.

I can root it using method 2 or 3 even though it's already ZV6 ?

I assume I can back up the stock rom/firmware in the process ?

After it's rooted, can I change it from a Boost mobile Volt to a Sprint Volt ?

Ringplus won't enable the tethering that's part of my plan if my phone is from Boost.

Yes

Yes

No, that's not controlled on your phone.

That sounds really weird, but you can activate tethering from your end anyway with a simple APN edit. I have tethering on Boost and don't have tethering on my plan.

Is there a guide on how I can set up Nandroid backup for volt before rooting? It seems that with some phones you just go into the bootloader screen and scroll down to recovery. I don't see that option on volt. Thanks for your help.

You just need to get a custom recovery installed, which will require rooting.
Rooting is safe, there's extremely minor risk there. It's what you do after that point that's going to warrant having a backup.
There are several apps that can backup your user data, but nothing can backup system level stuff without root.

Just a bit nervous because this a a new phone. Would you mind if ask you a couple of noob questions along the way?

1) I installed DP tools and LG drivers, which includes the LG mobile driver.
2) I have USB debugging enabled.
3) When I plug my phone in and turn on DP tools I get this screen. http://imgur.com/gaGbGcs It says "Daemon not running" where the model number should be. I haven't clicked anything yet. Is this a normal message? Thanks.

Sorry, It now sees the the phone model.

Ok, so it's rooting now. On the bottom it says "rooted" in red. However, the progress par is still at zero. It says "do not unplug the USB connection" The progress bar hasn't budged in the last 5 minutes. How long should I wait? Thanks bg4m3r for taking all these questions.

We're here to help. :)
You should've gotten a prompt on the computer to reboot the phone after just a minute or so.

We're here to help. I think you're mixing instructions from the depreciated method. Just boot the phone normally, connect it to your computer, make sure USB debugging is on, run DP Tools, and click Root Device. No need to go into download mode or anything.
I just followed what DP tools in the prompt. It said "serial port not found - turn off phone and press and hold volume up and while you're doing that connect the USB cable again"

Then it said "Phone found Com 3 Rooting Phone"

I'm on the screen that says firmware update. This is what my phone looks like now. http://androidforums.com/attachments/upload_2015-1-7_17-23-25-png.79991/ The percentage bar has been at 0% for 20 minutes now and like the picture it says rooted at the bottom. In fact, it said "rooted" almost immediately after it started.

The only difference between my phone and that picture is that my phone says CHARGER_ONS B86

Yeah, sorry, it's been a while since I've done this, I got confused. (I've actually altered my last post in this regard, too late apparently) I had to go through it again myself, lol. Nothing is going to change on the phone. You need to check the command window on the computer. Should look like this. I just added a video to the guide if anything's still not clear.

You should be fine. It did that to me too, and almost everyone else. Just unplug the phone and reboot (hold power). I think the only reason it went all the way through this time is because I was already rooted.
Root checker tells me that I'm rooted!! The only weird thing is that google play store is acting like it's the first time I used it by making me agree to its terms. And then I got a prompt to create a back up password for my phone. I already had one from before so I just ignored it and went back to the home screen. Everything else seems to work. Weird or normal for it do that? Thanks btw! Your help is really appreciated. You really didn't have to do any of this and I appreciate it!

No problem. I'm going to go and make videos for a lot of this stuff for my YouTube channel. I find it easier to show rather than explain, especially on here. As for that stuff being reset, it's because it deletes some stuff when rooting. I think you will need to reset that password.

Cool deal. It's got some gaming stuff I'll check out as well. You got yourself a sub and a small token of appreciation. Have a good one. :)
Thank you. Please comment on anything. I've been having trouble getting a schedule down due to life and still figuring out recording and editing. I just found some new software that I'm hoping will make things easier.

Sounds like your battery is shot. It's possible that the Nokia charger overloaded if it's output was too high... Or, possibly, it's too low, or broken, and not charging. Have you tried charging it with the correct charger? You should always check three output rating on a charger before using it to charge something other than what it came with.

If you don't have the correct charger, try to find a 5V 1.2A charger.

I tried it with LG g3 and g4 charger, but that doesn't worked.
i took battery out from my volt and tried switching batteries in Lg g3 (it suited) though it doesn't work. The magical part is "when i put the original battery into volt again after taking out from g3, the volt is turning on", but when screen times out it goes to dead mode. Tried it for more than 10 times. This is the result ,
Is there is any way to turn it on permanently . i tried factory reset even though it is not the solution. but after going to reboot mode, it is turning into dead one.
Please help me :/

Your battery is messed up, IMO. You need to get a new one. Even if keeping the screen on all the time allows it to work, you don't know what will happen next with the battery. It could explode or something.
