The larger concern here is if you have a custom recovery. If you do, it would most likely brick your phone. There are a couple rooted zv6 ROMs available already. My rooted Volt has downloaded LZ740V5_07-LZ740V6_01_update.zip. I've not installed it. Would it zap root if I install it? More interestingly, would it even let me install it since I'm rooted? Thought I'd ask before I attempt anything.

Yeah, unless they patched it. Let us know if it works or not so I can update the guide. Thanks for the response @bg4m3r. No custom recovery. Just rooted ZV5 using DP Tools. I went ahead and applied the update since I wanted the Stagefright fix which this update gave. Seems like I've lost root. SuperSu says it cannot find the binary. Guess I need to go the DP Tools route again?

I did the update with TWRP installed and it didn't brick the phone but I did lose root although the sdcard fix I applied still works which is the reason I rooted in the first place. The larger concern here is if you have a custom recovery. Thanks for posting that. Previously I had a phone where I was going to use it unactivated as media player, and I wanted to remove the carrier ID. The only way I could find to do that was to reflash the ROM via the LG flash tool. It sounds like the dial code you posted might do the trick.
I tried to follow the procedure here to flush any rom back on my phone.
The download mode never shows firmware update (do not unplug the USB connection untill this process is complete) screen. Download mode just sits in --portchange-- step (see 01.jpg) nevermind how long do i press volume up key.

I also tried to do something in Android System Recovery <3e> but see 02.jpg what happens there,

if i try to access sdcard, i also get "failed to mount /sdcard (no such file or directory)" or "(Invalid argument)", see 03.jpeg.
Can this phone be saved?

The thing is, while it's a generic image, it has all the stuff for all the carriers and once you flash it and activate, it determines what network you're on and downloads the appropriate bloat. At first most people were losing carrier identification and avoiding all that crap, but recently the phones have been realigning themselves.I just flashed zv3 per the instructions at the beginning of the thread. Shortly after rebooting, Virgin Mobile Essentials installed itself. The reason I flashed the stock ROM was to avoid all of the bloat and hopefully stop all of the glitches (i.e., music player randomly stopping). Did I do something incorrectly, or does VM Essentials install by default?
Thank you for all of the hard work you put in on this.
Good, glad you got it sorted. What did you remove that caused the issue? Thanks. It looks like I have it all sorted out now. I used Titanium Backup to remove a lot of stuff (which was listed in another thread as safe to remove).
I was sure people were still able to use DP Tools... anyway, you have root correct? You can use Flashify to install TWRP. From there you can install whatever ROM you want, or just remove kingroot and flash SuperSU through TWRP.I had my LG Volt (ZV6) Kingrooted because I couldn't find anything to root/recover with. There are a lot more security issues with ZV6 than previous builds and some of them are in place to prevent root. My biggest issue is that the ports/drivers aren't even attainable/available...even after installing the LG drivers. Wtf do I do now? I'm not really feeling too cool about Kingroot and I've had no issues with rooting any previous devices with recovery until now. Any feedback?
Yes! You have to back to Z3 stock. The procedure is located up in the #1 post.
WARNING: You will lose data in the downgrade process. Prepare your phone accordingly.
What you will need:
zv3 stock tot file (Mirror) - DL to computer
MD5 = 0D7AAAFB6742CEAB7BCAEECBAE3C1F39
LG Flash Tool 1.8, Megalock, and LS740 DLL - DL to computer
MD5= C1825BA208611B23B9B0D4aBDD0C5731
LG Universal Drivers - DL to computer
Then Follow these Instructions!!
+ Install Driver
+ Install LG Flash Tool to the ROOT drive of your PC (C:/) and wait until complete; then close out of it.
+Copy all 3 files you downloaded: "MegaLock.DLL + LS740.DLL + ZV3 Stock .TOT file" and place them into the directory you installed LG FLASH TOOL to. Should be located: C:\>LG>LG Flash Tool>
RESTART YOUR PC HERE!
+Shut off your phone. While holding down the VOLUME UP button; plug in the USB cable; This boots into DOWNLOAD MODE; Set your phone aside.
**Note: In Device Manager on your computer, find LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port (under Ports) and set it to port 41 (COM41). The same Ports as the first square is labeled on the LG FLASH TOOL!
-Mine WAS NOT correct the FIRST time I tried, resulting in no connection!
-Open the LG Flash Tool. On the config window, make it look like the picture below:
(note the DLL, S/W, and Action Mode) and hit OK.
-On the main window in LG FLASH TOOL hit the yellow arrow at the far left.
-Once it finishes, unplug the cable from the computer; and plug it back in to start the flashing process.
*If phone goes to restart, Shut it off, and hold the VOLUME UP button and Plug in the USB to Start it into download mode just like the first time.
-When the phone is done and reboots, it will boot into the MiniOS setup screen.
(You can now disconnect the phone and close the Flash Tool.
Don't worry about any fail messages from the flash tool.)
On the MiniOS screen, hold power button in and press Normal Boot.
Rebooting will take several minutes, DON'T PANIC!
If you don't have service, just use ##72786# dialer code to reactivate.
***I then have had errors from this point on sometimes. The solution is to do a FACTORY RESET from the systems settings menu. That will fix any problems from basically "dirty flashing" a stock ROM.
This is the instructions copied from above and made into a .JPG:
Sounds like your battery is shot. It's possible that the Nokia charger overloaded if it's output was too high... Or, possibly, it's too low, or broken, and not charging. Have you tried charging it with the correct charger? You should always check three output rating on a charger before using it to charge something other than what it came with.Man i rooted my lg volt before and it was working great for 3 months.
usually i uesd to charge my volt using nokia xl charger but before a week the phone was below 10% of battery and i charged it using the same charger and went to sleep, when i woke up and checked, the phone was not booting, no charger indications, cant boot into recovery nothing is happening. phone is freakin dead please help me out!

I refer you back to my last postI tried Google but no luck can you redirect me to the forum?

If you don't have the correct charger, try to find a 5V 1.2A charger.
