If your phone is not activated, then you don't need to use the dialer code. That is only for restoring cellular service.

You didn't use board mode in the flash tool. You need to reflash, make sure you select board mode. (see the screenshot of the flash tool)

A pre-rooted version of ZV5 is nor ready yet. See this thread for info on how to remove the notification.

Hey all, I can confirm that Iroot does not work on the zV4 update.

I've just attempted iRoot on the zv5 update, no luck.

It's become clear that iRoot is useless for zv4, removed from guide. I've also removed StockWalk due to potential issues that have come up in the thread for it.

Got mine rooted, finally.

Couple of points, you may want to consider:
1. update host USB driver
2. get rid of USB hubs
3. get rid of VM, if you are using one

Thank you so much for the suggestion. The OP's process wasn't working for me multiple times when I was running Windows VM on Mac, but it finally worked when I switched an old Windows desktop. Figures...

Yeah, it's unlikely that trying to work through a vm will work for anything like this due there being an extra interface between the phone and the system.

im just waiting on somebody to push a full zv5 out rooted or not, deodexed or not, so i can start up development again. I don't want to waste time on zv4 when zv5 is here. i would have made the zip myself, but i don't have the resources nessecary.

I've also removed zv4 from the guide completely and replaced CWM with TWRP.

I believe the rooted ZV4 ROM that we currently have in this forum will only flash properly with cwm (the non-touch version).

Just wanted to post a quick update after having so much trouble with this a few weeks ago. Updated my laptop from Vista to 7 and... IT WORKS! Finally no errors with the LG Flash Tool, now hopefully I can get through Step 4 without any problems

Before I upgrade, what's the difference between the odexed and deodexed versions of zv5??

Deodexed tends to perform better... That's about all I know about the differences.
