Root Help Rooting LG Stylo 2

You don't need to do all of that just install minimal adb and fastboot, install the drivers for your phone, power off your device and once it's completely turned off press and hold the volume down button while plugging in the USB cable, this will bring you directly into fastboot. It works just fine for me.

Not sure about other Boost Mobile users, but on my zv4 Boost Mobile, this just takes me into download mode, not fastboot. It will not boot into adb reboot bootloader to enable bootloader unlock commands.

EDIT: This does not take me to download mode, but only takes me to the phone battery charging screen. Are you working with a Boost Mobile zv4 USA variant and achieving fastboot/bootloader?

Do you happen to have a copy of your img for your combined zv3 and zv4 to download? I didn't see it posted in the thread unless I overlooked it (which is totally possible).
 
So upon further testing, when booting into recovery and then choosing to "Apply update from ADB", I've tried sideloading both the bootable TWRP from earlier in this thread and SuperSU version 2.76. With TWRP, it immediately boots out of the sideload, with the error message:

"E : footer is wrong
E : signature verification failed
Installation aborted."

For SuperSU, it appears to run and try to sideload all the way until about 40%, at which point it boots out with the following error message:

"E : failed to verify whole-file signature
E : signature verification failed
Installation aborted."

From these error messages, it seems maybe the recovery signature might be what LG changed from other iterations of the system from previous phones? I'm not a coder, however, so I'm not sure, just a guess based on the errors. I hope this helps @ GOD. I'll tinker a bit more when I get home from work later, but hopefully soon we can get recovery working. Once that happens, we'll be able to root permanently.
 
Try This Using Adb And Or/Recovery Sideload/But specifically REcovery*and __>"Update From sd" If I remember Correctly..... I Posted The Download (Update.zip) In One Of My Earlier Post.:),It Has Lgs signature,It Should Flash,If it Doesn't I may Need To Look For a New one.(Only Zv4,And Zv3 Lg Stylo 2 Ls775 Boostmobile) Just To Keep things Safe. :thumbsupdroid:

So just a quick update:

I have side loaded this through recovery (would not allow me to side load from SD card, had to side load through adb). It seems to have flashed and replaced system files, but no joy with loading into bootloader or trying to flash the recovery image posted earlier in the thread. I will continue to noodle around with it later, but I feel we are close. On a sidenote, when I go into settings it still shows my software version as zv4. Hopefully good news later after work :).

Interesting:eek: ...,When You Got Your Phone (Zv4) For The First Time And When You First Turned It On,Did You receive Any Kind Of OTA Updates? Or Did The Phone Already Have Zv4 Installed?:confused:
 
Sorry haven't been able to test further since I got home. When I got my phone, it was on zv3, but I immediately got an update to zv4. It seemed to be an optional update when I did it, however. Maybe after LG realized zv3 could be rooted by conventional methods, they and Boost mobile began to make the update mandatory?

Theres A 50/50 Chance if You Factory Rest Your Phone You Could Obtain Zv3,well Just A Idea But You probably Already Tried This.:oops:,Well My Phone seems To have Came With no Recovery And Bootloader,And Could Not Flash Any Ota Updates Fully,So When i Tried To Download the OTA the 20th Time It Got So Close To Being downloaded But It Failed,But I Seem To Have Got A Buggy Recovery And A Bootloader.:mad: (This was When i First Got My Phone) And Yet They Where still Pushing The same Update.

I factory reset my phone yesterday, but not with the update.zip file added. I may try that later to see if it will revert to zv3. I have been attempting to follow this guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3049772 to see if by following that I might be able to achieve root as well, but no joy there either. Also attempted to sideload both the update.zip as well as the recovery image at the same time in adb sideload, but will not take the recovery.img and in fact would not allow me to go back into adb sideload when I tried to do it again from the stock recovery. Will try again later and keep you posted on what I find.

Just tried a factory reset after sideloading the update.zip file, and am still on zv4 after update, no dice there :(.

Good Find,They Updated The page This is probably A Pacth For Zv4 To Fix The bugs esc,but The Actual Code is To Help You Compile A Kernal For this Device..
