Help Hero Maintenance Release

I am also loving the update. I have had no issues thus far. No lag for calling anymore at all which is AWESOME! Its what the phone is supposed to do. Too bad we didnt have this update a year ago when it came out.
 
Can anyone confirm whether or not this update fixes the keyboard lag when typing in the SenseUI's "Messages" SMS app?

I did a one-click root last week before the update came out and have not received any messages about the update, at least not since I installed a custom ROM on the evening of September 23. That said, I'm not sure if my wife has received any messages about it either, and she's got a stock Hero. I'm in Minneapolis, in case that makes a difference.
 
If you are rooted I do not think you will see the update, but your wife will soon if she has not yet, you can check manually the HTC software and see if it shows up, how do you like your phone since you have rooted, any issue yet ??, and if you rooted there is no reason for you to want this update anyways

I'll add my experience..after downloading update had no more problems with the lag in placing calls..Hero works like a charm.FINALLY!

I updated to the new software (2.31.651.7) on 09.24.10. It has improved the dialers speed for sure. It is much more responsive. I never had the lag some members on here complained about. To bad this update wasn't out a while back as I am eligible for a new phone this Friday. I am going to get the EVO, hope a I can find one. The Hero has been a good phone IMO, never rooted.

In any case, I have it now and it looks like a slight improvement in dialer lag. There is now slightly less of a lag between key presses...and it seems to connect a call a little bit more quickly.

Not super impressed, and still much laggier than other modern smartphones, including the HTC Incredible my friend has. Probably worth the update, I guess.

I'd agree. seems a tad better, but still no incredible....I guess the extra processor power gives it the punch it needs... I haven't seen any improvement in keyboard lag though....
 
I feel like I'm the only one seeing problems...

Although the dialer lag is not even a problem anymore, I noticed that most multitouch things don't work anymore. I can't pinch my homescreen, I can't pinch zoom my pictures anymore, my battery drains a little faster now. It also added more lag to my keyboard where I had none before (and that's in portrait view, so imagine how horrible landscape view is.)

I'm not sure what I should do to fix this, but it's really stressing me out. Any advice?
 
I have no other smart phone to compare my Hero to, but since I did the update, the thing smokes. My biggest complaint always has been the dialer, and now it works like a phone should work. I make a lot of calls and now the lag will no longer be a problem for me. I don't know if you can see, but I am jumping for joy.
I also have not found any problems with anything else, just seems the whole thing works faster, and better.

I keep forgeting to test the Bluetooth to see if it is any better, phone seems snappier, it is an improvment for sure but this is a 3G/4G market so it maybe that has something to do with how much improvemenet you see.
 
I'm in Tampa Fl. (duh) and I just completed the update.
System states that it's version 2.31.651.7
Dialing lag is completely gone.... I'll keep exploring :)
 
My Hero has 1.5 rooted and I'm debating trying this update. My biggest problem with my phone right now is the keyboard lag and the Facebook app. Some say the keyboard lag is gone with the update. Can anyone tell me if there is FB notifications for wall post with 2.1? On mine I only get notifications for messages and friend requests. Also after I rooted I removed some stock apps. If I put 2.1 on will the stock apps be back? Thanks!

going from 1.5 to 2.1.
you should wipe everything..
depending on the ROM you use... it will load what ever the developer has on the ROM .. which might or might not have stock apps.

Yes, I do get notifications for wall posts on the Facebook app.
 
just got my 2.31.651.7 update last night. started download & install before going to sleep. this morning, phone's working except HTC Sense keeps crashing and force closing as soon as it starts! very frustrating. i can place and answer calls, but cant get to the menus to make changes. any ideas?
 
Try rebooting your phone

Here's a stupid question; Where do I get the update?! It's not OTA on my phone because I have rooted 1.5 and when I check both Sprint and HTC download pages it only has the last, 2.31.651.6, update to download. :confused:
