Root Homeless Kernel 1.0

Anyone else have hdmi issues with 1.3? I was on 1.0 a day ago and it was fine.. Only thing different is the kernel.. Had to DL over wifi on phone so thinking it may just be a bad flash.. Laptop is out of commission at the moment so I can't go back to 1.0 without using my phone to DL it..

I tried HDMI yesterday on 1.3 and it didn't work, but I didn't feel like troubleshooting, so I don't know if it is this kernal.

Here are my current result with this kernal and JD with moderate use on the stock battery.

I may have access to a computer later on tonight.. I'll try the diff kernels and see how it plays out and post the results.. Can't promise anything though as i have long shifts tomorrow and Monday.. Nice results though.. I never really have a chance to actually run it down.. I've hit 13 or so..

Ok.. Hdmi definitely ain't working on 1.3.. Flashed back to 1.0 it works, to 1.3 it didn't.. Not had time to test the versions in between though..

I'm aware of the HDMI issue, I got the source for the driver, just gotta recompile the module after I figured out what config file I need to tweak to include it in my build process.

oh one thing to note, in system/app I renamed dunserver.apk to dunserver.apk.bak

disabling it has improved battery I have not used it with bluetooth devices so its affect is unknown at this moment. every time I plan on testing it something else comes up.:(

I believe it wont affect normal bluetooth useage, such as talking on a handsfree device but I believe it will not transfer files to or from another phone or a computer. And It absolutely will not allow bluetooth pairing as a modem to a computer.

That by the way is an interesting way to use it I tried that out first day with my wifes laptop.

Any new info on renaming dunserver.apk?

I tried stopping the service, turned out to be non essential as far as i could tell, but I'm not 100% yet. All I know is it does not affect wifi or data, i have a feeling it's for usb internet tethering (and that's kind of pointless when we have wifi hotspot apps). I just stopped the service however to be on the safe side when i booted up my phone, left the apk there.

My best so far. Running v1.3, only battery drainers are SetCPU and Simple Calendar widgets and Widgetlocker lockscreen with a few widgets on it. This was with light usage, sitting overnight, then moderate usage (web surfing, some games) throughout the day.

It may just be me but it seems like the battery drains faster on 1.3 than on 1.0 but the results in the graph say otherwise.

I got 2 days and 5 hours using this kernal and JD on a stock battery and moderate use after turning off autosync/background sync in JD settings. I'm going to try for 3 days this next time.

It's nice to see all you guys with great battery life I on the other hand never had that luck I tried all things possible flash the latest Kernel 1.3 stop a few running services and the most I get with stock battery was like 9 hours , with my extended battery I get about 17 with light to medium use I gave up I just wish I could get about 20 hours on my extended battery so I will leave it alone but nice to hear good stories from you guys on WIFI of course I get more but with 4g even on light use is way less I understand 4g is a baterry killer but looking at all you guys numbers I get sad

What's your:
HW Rev. #:
Baseband Ver:
under settings/about?
and any other marking on the back of your phone, like manufacturing dates etc...

Just wondering if maybe your phone is somehow different, or from a particular batch?

It could also be rogue apps running services in the background (under settings\apps\running services).

If you can't find it, i'd suggest formatting /data and /cache after a backup with rom manager. Then see if *before* you throw all kinds of apps on, if the battery life is better. Then add some little by little (no more than a few a day), write em down and watch your battery, if it suddenly goes lower you'll get an idea of which app might be the cause, then uninstall em. It's process of elimination. The most unlikely cause is that you have 2 bad batteries... but the do tend to last less over time as they degrade, but usually that's a long time.

Thanks Kanaida I have the Baseband ver MS910ZVB
HW version REV.1.0
Remanufactured Dec I need to try that unless this is just one of those bad batch Esteem

Some clarification please.... is this "homeless setting" already active in
GSE-C_v1.0? Or do you have to flash it or go into some setting to activate it.

Hey all, i've been reading all of these lg esteem threads for a few weeks now and finally decided to take the plunge a few days ago and flash some roms. I tried PG's GingerSteem Extreme II but it gave me a few too many random reboots. I then moved over to LDK-ICK 1.7 for ZVC

quick question regarding this kernel: before i flash it, knowing what rom i'm currently using, will it mess my phone up pretty bad or will it be compatible?

i worry about bricking it or something as i am pretty much noob and don't really know what i'm doing. just good at following directions.

(ps sorry this is my first post)

THANKS to all modders and forum members for the great info and hard work!

I updated to ZVD and im running LD-LG ICK Mod ZVC 1.7 rom..... will the optimizer and the kernel work it the new updated? cause i love this kernel !! GREAT JOB!!!! GREAAAAT!
