^^how many X users are about to move on to newer devices^^

Just checked my DX running .602. No CIQ.

I find it funny people think ICS will solve all their problems...if Verizon was a CIQ carrier, they could pop it on the phone just like the rest of their bloat.
 
Probably sticking with my X until May. Would of considered the razr but battery is an issue I use the he'll out my phone and need to swap in my spare battery after 6-8hrs. Does anyone know if there will be a DROID X3 or has the product line been renamed under the razr name?
 
Just a word of warning to you all out there thinking of going to 4glte the battery life will suck, especially coming from the X. I am awaiting my 3rd bionic (2nd replacement) and I have to tell you it has the best battery life of any of the 4g phones out there but it pales in comparison to the X. I have tried every 4g phone verizon offers with the exception of the resound (I have 5 lines) and the X kills them all in battery life. I was suprised how snappy the X is running on 605. I was running on froyo before I left and the difference is noticable. Web browsing, screen openings are almost as good as the razr. The only place the 4g phones have a distint edge is in downloading. There it is no comparison, even if the X is on wifi. If you don't download a lot of stuff I would stay with the X. You will be dissapointed. I can just about get a full day. 5:30Am to 10PM on the bionic, which is good compared to most users. I can easily get a solid day and a half on the X. If I don't charge my Bionic overnight I am SOL. It takes almost 3.5 hours to charge from empty (as does the razr). Think hard before you change. And if you are thinking about the razr look at rootzwiki and xda and take a looik at the lack of development community. I know it is early but without a battery that can be pulled in case of emergency I think the developers will just pass this phone over.
 
yeah battery life is a known issue on 4G phones. Actually the ReZound gets really good battery life imo. I average 10-15 hours on a single charge. Battery life on 4G is really dependent on a lot of variables.
 
If you have a 4g phone, you can simply turn off 4g to improve battery life and then turn if back on if you're downloading something/watching video. Under settings -> wireless & networking -> mobile networks -> network mode, just choose CDMA only. If you need 4g, you can change it back to CDMA/LTE. It's not that difficult, although it'd be nice if there was a widget to do it. Unless I'm missing something, this seems to work fine.

nope your Spot on. This is exactly what i do. I see no point in having it on 24/7 unless your doing some really data intensive actions.

Verizon pretty much seals any deals for me with an unknown date for 4G here even though it's in Gainesville, just 36 miles away.

The penile screen :p on the X2 gives me the heebie jeebies reading about it. Both the X and X2 use the same battery and the X2 has to get the xtra juice for the dual processor from somewhere. (The less thirsty screen.)

Once on the Gingerbread my 8 month X has really settled in to being a nice phone. I have no complaints with it. I'm not a rooter.

I don't have phone insurance and just had a scare with a grungy charging port. I HAVE to have an operational phone no ifs, ands, or buts. I am putting my money where my mouth is and getting a minty back-up X for about what 1 years worth of maybe even not used insurance would cost me. That sounds like a no-brainer deal to me.

With no 4G here, there's no reason I can see for me to even contemplate "upgrading" until near the 14 months left in my contract are up.

The Galaxy Nexus has now been ordered. Goodbye Droid X it's been one hell of a ride, best phone I have ever owned (not just compared to my previous phones, but against its competitors). Stock to rooted to Apex to Shuji to OMGB to CM7GB to ICS MIUI to Liberty back to ICS MIUI. It's amazing how much developer support there was for a phone with locked bootloader. The polar opposite of the phone I had before the BB Storm, which was garbage.
 
Well guys, it has been a great run. Now time to move on to bigger and better things. Galaxy Nexus baby!
 
played with a Nexus this morning while taking a "break" from work lol...was prepared to leave with one if blown away...

needless to say...i still have my X lol...

i was no more impressed with the Nexus side by side with the RAZR...ill be waiting to see what Motorola offers in terms of their first device designed and shipped with ICS...im 110% confident it will be a better device than the Nexus...

im actually genuinely upset that i was not more impressed with the Nexus...

Side by side with the Razr and the magical Gnex screen didn't blow you away? Aside from all the negatives, I thought the Gnex screen was the one clear advantage.

blow me away? no...colors were deep (almost over saturated IMO though)...i just was not as impressed by the Nexus as i thought i would be...:(

I'm sure that has something to do with the months of hype surrounding the Galaxy Nexus. I personally much rather the overall experience with my Nexus verses my nephews RAZR. The RAZR has some nice features, but the qHD screen, Moto-blur(less), and the shiny fingerprint magnet housing are deal breakers for me. Not to mention that the RAZR is just too dang wide for me to hold comfortably.

you're probably right there...

i really can't put my finger on what it was that caused me to not be as impressed...but i just wasnt...

don't get me wrong, if the price was more "right" then id still buy one...and i certainly wouldn't turn one away if given to me...its a much better phone than my OGDX is for sure...but holding it in my hands and getting some time with did not give me the "i need this device" feeling i was expecting when i walked into the VZW store...
 
Since I have been waiting for a Nexus class device to come to VZW since 2008, I'll gladly take the GN's issues and enjoy those instant OTA's from Google. I'm tired of being 6 mths to a year waiting for the latest OS to be ported to my phone. In this way the GN shines and doesn't disappoint.
 
I said farewell to my X yesterday. I moved on to the White RAZR. It was a tough decision between the GNex and the RAZR. I went with the RAZR due to the weak radio reports of the GNex. I was in VZW yesterday and tried it myself. The RAZR was at -67db and the GNex was at -104db. That's a pretty big difference, especially for those of us who are frequently out in the sticks. And not to mention I really am not interested in rooting and ROMing anymore, so I am not concerned that the phone has an unlocked bootloader.

My only qualm about getting the RAZR over the GNex is updates. I like the idea of updates coming straight from Google. Other then that, the RAZR is one great device. I do like Smart Actions. Very useful. The screen the RAZR is pretty good too. Not as good as the GNex, but good enough for a smartphone. And the features added my MotoBlur are actually very useful. So far, I am pleased with the purchase. The battery life is average. Not great, but not the 3 hours that the salesman was telling me it would get (he was really pushing the GNex.)

And my X is getting a good home with my father. He is going to use it as a PDA for the time being, until word about Verizon's shared data plans come out.
 
RAZR MAXX or the Quad cores around Q1/Q2 2012 for me. Till then, my DX is movin' right along, no issues. We still have developer support. At least 3 DX ICS ROMS being worked on. Most are VERY promising!
