I spent $800 but unfortunately... there's no option for that. :P Discrimination!

I bought things for a total of 13 people so average $62 per person. Not bad.

Sorry, my math isn't what it should be after an abundance of Christmas cheer.

Just bought for my son and one gift for my wife. To hell with the rest. they get a Merry X-mas.

Spent about $600 to $800.

I look at X-mas more for kids than grownups.

Spent about $200 a piece on 5 people, so the math genius in me says thats $1000.

Nothing spent on travel with the good ol internet, cant stand crowds and christmas music. the stores have been playing it since before thanksgiving.

If I add up everything I've spent this holiday season I WILL need anti-depressants!

Yeah, I was going to say something like that.

Maybe this is why sales of Rum and certain wines skyrocket in the week after Christmas. ;)

We went a little overboard this year and spent about $4000, that was just on gifts for me the wife and most of it for our daughter.

Oh, and my anti depressants are free from the VA. :)

THats a lil overboard? Hate to see you go way overboard. The main thing is are they happy.

I only spent about $300. Most of it on my daughter. Her birthday is 11/28 and I always spent WAY too much ($800 this year) on that so she gets shorted a little on Christmas.

Are you adopting?:D

You aren't the first to ask that ;)

Our daughter's birthday is 11/26. She gets a couple nice presents and a big party. We have a lot bigger Christmas than birthday when it comes to gifts, but it is just the 3 of us, no other family or friends. This year for her birthday she got a nice digital camera and a myTouch 4G.

I spent $50 on a gift card for my best friend for his birthday and Christmas (if that sounds cheap, bear in mind that we usually just don't bother with gifts at all). Spent nothing on anyone else. The husband and I pick out reasonably high-end things we wouldn't normally buy, and my gift to him is that I work them into the budget (I handle the finances). For myself, I'm probably going to end up getting a graphics card. He got a new widescreen monitor. I also gave him my laptop that I haven't touched in a year (he wanted one to play around with Ubuntu), and gave my DS Lite to a friend who didn't have much money to get her 7 year old a brand new one. I did buy her a charger to go with it, since my cat had eaten mine, so I guess that's another $15.

Total so far (since I haven't gotten my card yet), $165.

Yeah...I dont want to total it all up :)

Christmas shopping started with a Black Friday run to the furnature store for new bedroom furniture for my wife and I, as well as my son and daughter...ouch!

We always spoil our kids on Christmas but we also introduced them to the world of Android with tablets (lower end...but still Android :D). I earned some brownie points with a designer bag and wallet for my wife. She returned the favor with a tablet for me which made my day! She said she was goong to get me the galaxy s tab but heard me say it was overpriced (and I thought she never listened to my techie ramblings).

So yeah...we spent too much :)

Lol. I find it funny what people are willing to spend.

Oh well money spent lovingly is money well spent.

Or in my family's case gifts received are more consolation for having to be home for 2 weeks to a month and around eachother all the time

I spent somewhere in the range of 600-800. That is likely to change going forward though. I don't plan on spending nearly that much on xmas again lol.

I fixed the poll. I also made the poll more accurate wrt polling.

Added these people for the $500-$999 range, please tell me if you picked another amount and I'll adjust it.

I spent $950 on gifts. I'm pretty much *cheap* on myself. I'm a sales hunter and only buy things that are on sales when I buy stuff for myself. When it comes to my friends and family, I'll spend the money on them because they are worth it! Like I spent $175 on a charm bracelette on my sister...I know in my life I will never waste that money on a charm for myself. But knowing that she loved it...*priceless*

Luckily for me, I don't have that much family. I only had to purchase gifts for my 2 sisters, niece & nephew, daughter, fiancee and unfortunately my mother. Lol! I also ended up purchasing a simple gift for my soon to be mother-in-law b/c I found out she bought me something and I felt guilty not returning the favor.

I didnt see too much as a voting choice :p. Yeah I was easily over $1K myself but whatever. You cannot put a price on peoples:):D. I tend to get practical gifts though so its money well spent. So a couple hundred bucks on a top rated Consumer Reports vacuum for my mom or a nice 18V DeWalt for my gf's dad is going to be used and appreciated for years to come

For me, it's the opposite. I have 6 sisters, 4 brothers, their spouses, 22 or 23 nieces and nephews... our family decided years ago that we're not buying gifts for everyone. The only people I buy for are my husband, my best friend, one gift for the family's "white elephant" gift exchange, and any kids under 12 who come to the family's annual party (only 9 of them this year).
