Help HOW TO: Installing Froyo 2.2

will i be able to update even tho i removed some of the bloatware? i didnt back them up either.

thanks!

I can't. I have to flash it with the SBF because I'm missing something crucial. You can try it, if anything it'll just say update failed. Won't damage your phone, didnt do anything to mine atleast.

Thanks Trauma, finally froyo and no rooting required. Does this mean that way down the line when gingerbread comes out it could be released early in the same way?

Concerning.....

--Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

I did the "long press" instructions that rjoudrey gave, and tried the process again. Seems to have worked as immediately upon reboot, installs updates were available through the market. I was able to

"update all"

Which I believes means that I was running 2.2.

Just checked and yes, now on 2.2. worked like a champ. I haven't noticed any difference in speed though.

NEW...
a battery performance application is now running. It will let you limit your night-time down loads of data. You can configure it to a custom level or just pick from the different defaults offered. I put mine to "Performance".

Hope we get the official when it comes out..... we will right????

This is the error i get

--Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

How do I get it to work?

You can increase your font size in GMail, JIT, JIT and did I mention JIT!

Worked great here......changing screens does seem to be a bit smoother, and the lock screen is not only new but much smoother. It still lags a bit at times, but not often, at most it lags at the end of the animation (when it transitions from the lock to the home screen), the lock bar slides all the way, then it pauses for a second then transitions into the home screen. But the animation itself rarely lags like it use to, so it looks much smoother.

Also, like the camera button in the camera app......you cannot cancel taking a pic once you put your finger on it, but the way the normal camera button wiggles, I find it somewhat difficult to use it to take images without moving the phone. LOVE the new battery manager, it actually shows what apps are using battery and how much and what not.

Thanks!
